EMPIRE Magazine Releases New Deathly Hallows Photos

EMPIRE magazine has recently released these new photos from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One. I love the magazine cover, especially the tagline "Friendships shatter. Evil unites." with the photo showing the reflections of Ron, Hermione, and Voldemort in the shards of flying glass.

Notice that Ron is holding the Deluminator and Hermione has the Tales of Beedle the Bard in her lap in this scene which takes place prior to Bill and Fleur's wedding. That's the esteemed British actor...

Janet Brennan Croft's Review of The Lord of the Hallows

This review of The Lord of the Hallows was published in the September-October 2010 issue of the Oklahoma Librarian, the official journal of the Oklahoma Library Association. The reviewer is Janet Brennan Croft, who is also the editor of Mythlore, the scholarly journal of the Mythopoeic Society. All I can say is WOW! And a sincere and heartfelt thanks to Janet for taking the time to read and review my book. :)

New Deathly Hallows Photos & More!

Here are three new photos from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that were released today.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione at Grimmauld Place

Hermione and the Locket of Slytherin Horcrux

Hermione and Ron in the tent.

Of course all of the R/Hr fans are excited about the third photo. ;) Many of us are concerned about the portrayal of their relationship in the film after reading a few spoilers from the recent Chicago test screening, but I have read some rather encouraging reviews of R/Hr in the new...

Valerie Frankel's Review of The Lord of the Hallows

I was delighted with this recent 5-star review of The Lord of the Hallows: Christian Symbolism and Themes in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter which appeared on amazon.com! :)

"Denise Roper sure knows her stuff. This book analyzes Christian symbolism in Harry Potter, focusing on magical animals, names, hallows, horcruxes and more. There are many links to Lord of the Rings and Narnia that a casual reader might not notice, but Ms. Roper draws them all out for us. How is the weasel significant? What...

Weasley Is Our King!

This is a little excerpt from my book, The Lord of the Hallows: Christian Symbolism and Themes in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter.  I hope that all of my Ron-loving friends in Harry Potter fandom will  enjoy this segment.  My book contains an explanation of the  lion, unicorn, and stag as symbols of Christ, and describes how these symbols are used in both the Harry Potter series and also  in The Chronicles of Narnia.

At the end of the chapter "Harry Potter and the Bestiary of Christ," I...

Party Like a Wrock Star! My Infinitus 2010 Convention Report

Here's my report on Infinitus 2010, the largest convention in the history of the Harry Potter fandom. It was held July 15-18 at the beautiful Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. This report is an account of my personal experience there and is by no means all-encompassing. There were about nine academic programming tracks happening simultaneously, and it would therefore be impossible for me to experience all that this convention had to offer without a time-turner! ;)
