New Deathly Hallows Calendar Photos: Spoiler Alert!

New photos from the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One movie calendars can be seen at www.rupertgrint.net, www.mugglenet.com, and http://community.livejournal.com/dhmoviepics among other places. When I read about this on Twitter, I had to check it out. Firstly, I think Emma Watson looks much more like Hermione with the long hair that she has in these pictures:

I love the little Ron/Hermione moments implied in the photos below. Hopefully we will get lots of romantic moments between t...

The Power of Love and Self-Sacrifice in Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings

This is another excerpt from The Lord of the Hallows: Christian Symbolism and Themes in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter  for you to enjoy. I think the popularity of both The Lord of the Rings and of the Harry Potter series is due in part to the loving  relationships between the heroic characters and the loyalty that these brave friends have for each other.

Weasley Is Our King!

This is a little excerpt from my book, The Lord of the Hallows: Christian Symbolism and Themes in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter.  I hope that all of my Ron-loving friends in Harry Potter fandom will  enjoy this segment.  My book contains an explanation of the  lion, unicorn, and stag as symbols of Christ, and explains  how these symbols are used in both the Harry Potter series and also  in The Chronicles of Narnia. At the end of the chapter "Harry Potter and the Bestiary of Christ," I made a b...

News from Middle-Earth, Hogwarts, and Narnia

Here's some news from J. R. R. Tolkien, J. K. Rowling, and C. S. Lewis fandom that may be of interest to those who follow this blog.

According to www.theonering.net, Guillermo del Toro has resigned as director of the two films based on Tolkien's The Hobbit. He may be replaced by Peter Jackson, the Oscar-winning director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I am a huge fan of Jackson's work on the trilogy, so I am hoping that this bodes well forThe Hobbit film adaptation.

I recently finished...

ImagiCon Convention Report

ImagiCon was an enjoyable multi-fandom science fiction and fantasy convention that I attended in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, May 21 through Sunday, May 23, 2010. This is a description of the highlights of my ImagiCon experience.
