flowers from my garden

I was in the garden before I left for Detroit to shoot Vamps and while harvesting food I used some of the food plants for arrangements in vases around my house. Borage flowers pictured above which are edible and great in salads are also super pretty in a vase.

Sweet peas pictured above are so yummy and also produce really pretty flowers.

Lemon verbena pictured above smells so good and looks pretty in a vase as well. People often make tea with the leaves too.

looking for an on-call assistant!

Become a member of our team and be our on-call assistant! Most weeks our team needs a little extra help a few hours here and there sometimes full days or even full weeks... and sometimes not at all. To be clear you will not have a regular schedule. This position is on an as-needed basis as our needs and schedule change so much each week. We will give you as much notice as possible and if you are available great!

vegan herb cracker recipe!

My friend Mimi sent me this recipe for these crackers from Elana's Pantry - they are vegan and gluten free and they look good! Check it out:

Vegan Herb Crackers

Ingredients
2 cups blanched almond flour
teaspoon celtic sea salt
2 tablespoons Herbes de Provence
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons water

Steps

1. In a large bowl combine almond flour salt and and Herbes de Provence

dogs in danger

I recently heard about this amazing organization called Dogs in Danger that works to place shelter dogs in loving homes. Dogs in Danger focuses on dogs that are close to being euthanized and provides a database of dogs all over the country that are available for adoption. Shelters must register with Dogs in Danger before their dogs are featured. Most shelters do not have a big budget for advertising their dogs so Dogs in Danger is a service to the shelters as well. a ban on pet sales

San Francisco's Animal Control and Welfare Commission has postponed a vote to ban pet sales in the City of San Francisco for at least one month. The ban would include the sale of cats dogs birds mice hamsters rats and guinea pigs the sale of rabbits and chicks is already illegal in San Francisco. The legislation has not yet been drafted but this proposal would be broader than similar ordinances banning sales of cats and dogs only in the cities of West Hollywood South Lake Tahoe and...

bullfighting and rodeos

On August 19 2010 the Washington Post reported that a bull leapt into a group of spectators during a bullfight in Spain injuring forty people. The article reports that the bull was restrained and later killed as though this "raging" bull was justly punished for its violent behavior. What the article does not cover is how bulls are tortured prior to entering the ring to make these normally docile animals fearful and aggressive. The so-called rage we see in bulls in the ring is in fact terror ...
