cauliflower bisque with "buttered" bread crumbs

This recipe comes from LA chef Kim Garr of C'est La Vegan and C'est La V Bakeshop. Check out this good looking cauliflower bisque that Kim adapted from a non-vegan recipe from the book "Love Soup" by Anna Thomas:
Ingredients
Soup
1 large white cauliflower 2 lbs
5 cups vegetable broth divided
2 cups water
1-inch piece lemon zest yellow part only the white pith will turn bitter
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 ½ tsp. sea salt plus more to taste

One day while I was doing Time Stands Still on Broadway Monica my understudy brought in a cookie sandwich - two cookies with cream in the middle. It was from Sweet Freedom Bakery in Philadelphia owned by Allison Lubert and Heather Esposito. Michael from EcoRazzi.com had given them to Monica for me and after I tried them I immediately ordered some for the crew...I wanted everyone to taste these yummy treats!

from fiery crash to farm sanctuary

A brave bull escaped a fiery crash in Indiana that horrifically killed eighteen cattle and wounded sixteen others all of whom were headed to a slaughter house. One among the sixteen who escaped alive eluded officials for twelve hours attempting to jump the three foot concrete median on Indiana's I-94. When officials finally captured this determined 2-year-old bull he was taken to Porter County Animal Shelter where he stayed until Farm Sanctuary came to the rescue.

This treat was given to me when I was in New York for a weekend.
I flew to NY straight from the set of Vamps in Detroit at 5am on 1.5 hours of sleep! to shoot another film the first directorial effort by my dear friend Chris Nelson whom I've known since I was 14. I had so much fun being in his film!
Anywho a lovely girl/lady there named Polo brought me this peanut butter brownie from Whole Foods - sooo good and vegan of course!

just say no!

The next time you are getting take-out or picking up a to-go order just say no to bags bring your own! utensils plates napkins straws you don't really need them do you?... any of that! Unless of course you are totally desperate. Most places don't ask you if you need them they just throw them in your bag...and it's usually soooo much stuff that ends up getting thrown out so you need to go out of your way to say thank you but no thank you. We need to boycott to-go stuff. So much paper and p...

Recently I was sent some pictures from home showing some of the fruits and veggies harvested plus a cute little visitor who was hanging out on the sweet peas!

This past month yielded kale celery sungold tomatoes strawberries borage and sweet peas. After taking pictures of the caterpillar he was put on the ivy so he wouldn't eat all the goodies!
These pictures make me a tad homesick but so happy too. I don't mind sharing some of my garden treats with the caterpillars!
