Settle an argument, eh?

A lovely Twitter friend, Ger, mentioned in passing that she quite fancies Noel Edmonds. Well. As you can imagine, I was horrified. I've been aware of Mr Edmonds for most of my life (since Swap Shop when I was just a teensy sproglet) and yet I've never – never! – heard anyone admit to fancying him. I've never even heard him mentioned as a guilty/embarrassing crush.
So after I rightly mocked the crazy Noel-fancier, she asked me about my own embarrassing crushes. I said David Mitchell, even...

… since I haven't got time to write anything today. But you can read an interview with me on my friend Diane's blog that touches on (pun intended) some of the more sensitive issues in Della Says: OMG!

OMG! I've got a book out! Part 1
I don't even know where to begin…
The official release date of Della Says: OMG! was 6 May, i.e. last Thursday. You may have noticed that something else, something apparently more important, was going on that day…
I spent the day enjoying my lovely publication day party over on Chicklish and then I asked Harry (5) where he wanted to go to celebrate. He said "Thank You & Benny's" which is what he calls Frankie & Benny's so that's where we went. (The food was dreadful, but we had a lovely time...

Today's the day!
That my book is officially released. What? Is there something more important happening today?
Me and my lovely friend Luisa Plaja are having a virtual launch party over on Chicklish, the YA site we founded together, back when neither of us had a book out.
Come and join us. There's virtual champagne and cake and I'm doing Take That dance routines…

We are all made of stardust
A couple of nights ago, I was on Twitter (I'm always on Twitter) and @inshin tweeted about the #ISS – or International Space Station. He seemed to be suggesting that it could be seen from the earth with the naked eye, but… surely that wasn't possible, was it?
I tweeted about it and a number of people assured me that it was indeed possible and that if I went to this website, I could find out when the ISS was due to pass over my location and then, if it was a clear night, I'd be able to stand...

OMG! I've got a book coming out! Part 8
Well, it's out already. Kind of. But the publication date is 6 May so I'm not really counting it as out-out until Thursday.
The past week has been a bit surreal. Lots of people have read Della Says: OMG! and loved it (or at least that's what they've told me…). Even people I DON'T KNOW have read it and got in touch to tell me they enjoyed it, which is just amazing.
The photo was taken by my lovely online friend Kate, who works in Waterstone's. I used to work in Waterstone's (I wrote a bit about ...

If it's Monday it must be…
Yes, the blog tour rolled on through last week. I'm really loving it, hope at least some of you are enjoying it too. (Anyone? Bueller?) Last week's stops (there are chances to win a copy of Della Says: OMG! at some of them – I'll let you find out which…):

Rock-a-cot
When I was a kid, I was desperate to invent something (anything). One of my "inventions" was a self-rocking cot. Except it wasn't really. It was basically a cot with a pedal, which just meant you had to rock it with your foot instead of your hand.
Onturpduo have come up with something much cleverer – the Rockid. Love it. {via swissmiss}
Incidentally, I *did* come up with the idea for a rubber collar to wear at the hairdressers to stop hair going everywhere. Of course, I never told anyone. My...

"I'm sorry, we can't return your pictures…"
I haven't had time to write my OMG! I've got a book coming out! post this week. Mainly because, um, my book's come out. So – look! – here's a gallery of photos various lovely people have sent me in the past week.
