This Is Your Song

A few on my song releases have done quite well…. Talk, Talk for example has had over 2000 Spotify plays while End of the World is now over 1000. However, This is Your Song, the latest release, is doing something I have never seen before. Yet to make 100 plays but…. it has been listened to in 21 different countries in the first week of its release from Mexico and the USA to Chile, Columbia, New Zealand and European countries. This is astounding to me. I’m not even sure how someone in Mexico discovers one of my songs?

I’m rather hoping it builds a group of listeners who perhaps place it in their playlists. For us Indie musicians, getting in a playlist is the motherlode as it guarantees listeners. So, if you use Spotify, please give it a listen and add it to your favorites…..

To be poetry

Yet it evokes

Such thoughts

Such passions

Patterns in life

Streaming visions

Other possibilities

Touches the soul

Makes the whole

Ignites the embers

As mind remembers

A throw away item

As plastic as can be

But it sets me free

Musical Declaration of Freedom

It’s been sometime coming. But, finally, I declare myself FREE. In the words of this latest song…

It’s my life, It’s my life, It’s my life and I’m going to live it!

In recent weeks, many things have changed and some very important people have entered my life. The Universe has been kicking my ass!

So, here is my anthem – take a listen…

Plainly, this moment was coming for as I wrote End of the World –

It came to me in silence

Came as if in a dream

It was plain to see

Nothing I could do

That’s when I saw you

Eyes met across the room

Now I’m with you

The end of things is coming

It’s all a matter of time

It’s plain to see

Nothing we can do

Eyes will fill with tears

Staring into the gloom

Of this simple tune

I knew that my old world was ending and something new beginning……

It has been reflected in my poetry this last few weeks too.

I went to a dark place and survived, learned and now I’m back…. still learning, still evolving, but no longer looking…

I think (maybe) I found what I was looking for – inside and outside.

Edge of Love

Can you imagine a feeling so deep

That you suddenly lost your way?

The moment drifts off somewhere

And there is nothing to say?

Suddenly, the world is gone

The world stopped just for a moment

It simply disappeared

As if never there at all

And everything important

Became meaningless and trite

And the moment simply was

Tears come from nowhere

Indescribable feelings so deep

So intense

There is no longer pretence

No longer a care

Recently, I wrote what I happen to think is a rather beautiful love song and fully intend to put it out on spotify etc. as well as make a video for it…..

Then I thought, you know what, let’s have a producer take a look at it and see if they can make it sound better. I hated his first version which you can hear here but take 2 I like.

The problem is his take better or my original?

I want to write the perfect song

A soaring anthem of love

Compelling and catchy

And resonate with meanings

Communicate my feelings

I am an island

Set in an azure sea

A kaleidoscope of colors

Filled with glowing light

And also a multitude

A crowd of aspects

Moving in harmony

The many personas

In touch with identity
