Love Letters
Because the creator of Pooh said it best, I shall borrow these words for My Special Guy on this Valentine's Day…
If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.
~A.A. Milne
~Elizabeth (a.k.a. Laura)
Friendship
The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand,
nor the kindly smile nor the joy of companionship;
it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one
when he discovers that someone else
believes in him and is willing to trust him.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Bits & Pieces of the Heart
Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, I figured I'd sprinkle it into today's Bits & Pieces.
1) Any plans for Valentine's Day this year?
2) Godiva or Hershey's?
3) You get three words to describe your perfect mate. They can be three separate words or used together. Go!
4) Favorite romantic movie?

Notes Galore
Well, I must say, my research trip to Lancaster County was a stunning success. Wow.
Because of the time of year (February…and on a Tuesday), I ended up having both the Amish house tourguide and the countryside bus tour guide to myself. I could ask the questions I wanted, not be sidelined because of anyone else's chit chat, and even take my pick on tour bus routes (I chose the one that had the mini-bus stopping at an Amish toy shop and an Amish store). I took the kind of notes (at least...

Be My (Kinda) Guinea Pigs?
I'm in the heart of Amish Country today, touring farms, exploring the countryside, and taking notes every step of the way. Some of what I learn will make its way into my next book–adding flavor and texture.
So while I research, I figured I'd ask you a few questions (some of your answers may actually assist in my research)…
1) When you think "Amish" what immediately pops in your mind? I'm looking for basic thoughts/observations from the general population because those thoughts/observations...

Ads… or Memories?
While I must confess I didn't watch the Superbowl this year (or, any of the commercials, for that matter), I DO like commercials. Especially the catchy word/jingle ones. Like the old Bic Mac commercial from several decades ago (two all beef, etc), the Burger King one that ran in direct competition (hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us, all we ask is that you let us serve it your way), and the whole Nyquil one (nighttime sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching...

Cars
Sitting at the car place awaiting word on why my car is suddenly struggling to go up hills. While I'm hoping it's something little, I
have this gut feeling my transmission is dying. So you can only imagine how badly I wanted to hug the service guy when he told me that IF it is the transmission, it's still covered. Phew. Phew. Phew.
Today's Bits & Pieces, of course, is now about cars (Chris C. this is for you)…
1) What was the first car you were able to call your own?
2) Dream car?
3) How many...

Behind The Scenes: A Series
I'm getting ready to start fresh on another book. This time, it's the second book in my upcoming Amish Mysteries which I'll be writing
under my professional name, Laura Bradford. The first book–HEARSE AND BUGGY–will hit store shelves on June 5th. At that time, readers will be introduced to my main character (Claire Weatherly), her aunt (Diane Weatherly), Esther (my main Amish girl), and others. They'll also begin to get familiar with the town of Heavenly, PA, where this series will take...

Praises and Peeves
When I sat down to figure out what I should blog about today, I found myself torn between a few topics–my upcoming Amish research trip, the soon-to-be overhaul of my office, and that groundhog we all know and don't love. Yet, out of the blue, came something totally different–a desire to sing some praises and share some peeves.
First, a song of praise…
There's a little cupcake bakery–Baked by Melissa–near Grand Central station that is nothing short of amazing! The cupcakes are tiny and not all t...
