Okay, so this trip to New York has been SUCH a whirlwind. I think I actually burned every calorie I ate from all the walking. Whew! I’m writing this from the airport, where I’m about to head home. HOME. I can’t wait! Love the city, but I am, at heart, a country mouse. Or chicken. Or whatever.

Okay, so I’m interrupting the holiday weekend because I can FINALLY tell you guys the big news I’ve been having to keep quiet for weeks now. And seriously: I am awful at keeping secrets. It’s, like, torture. Anyway, here it is: all my paperbacks are getting BRAND NEW COVERS! This has been a long process and project, and I’m so grateful I have such awesome people at Penguin who worked so hard to get every one just right. I love my current covers so much, so I knew whatever we changed them out...

1. Okay, bear with me, because I know I say this every month but: how is it almost JUNE? Where did the spring go? One minute it’s March and then WHOOSH it’s almost summer. Maybe this is a sign of getting older. Or being busy? Who knows. It just makes me think that I need to step out of the chaos of my daily life a bit more and be present, as the Buddhists say. Of course, the Buddhists also say to meditate, but whenever I try to do that and “clear my mind” I end up running over my To Do lists...

1. My husband is going away this weekend, and you know what that means: I’m going to be on Chicken Duty. This is always stressful enough, as I worry endlessly about something happening to them on my watch, but now we have this smaller chickens to deal with as well. There are electric fences to get over (I get shocked EVERY SINGLE TIME I SWEAR TO YOU) feed to distribute, eggs to collect. Not to mention keeping an eye out for roving, loose dogs. Oh, and I also have to take care of my kid. And m...

For now, though, I am here in my house, which is in its normal chaos. My kid has been up since 5:15, won’t eat her breakfast. Dogs are barking. Laundry and a million other things need to be done before we leave, our decorators are coming for a meeting in about an hour AND I know already I’m forgetting something crucial that has to be done today. 1. I’m writing this as I sit waiting for AT&T tech support to come see about my super slow internet. It’s one of those problems that is occurring JUST enough to be super annoying but not enough that I am not sure it’s all in my head. Or, alternately, a sign from the universe at large that I need to get my butt off of Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest and get back to work. Either way, I’m waiting. *drums fingers*
