Control – Charlotte Stein

Control is Charlotte Stein's second book. The first, The Things That Make Me Give In, was published by the late great Black Lace – and it was fooking awesome, as you can see by reading this review. TTTMMGI was a short story collection, and Control is a full on erotic novel. And bloody hot it is, too.

It tells the story of Madison Morris, a bookshop owner. But it's not just any bookshop – oh no – it's a smutty bookshop. Called Wicked Words (as a nod to Black Lace). I'm totally gutted that the place doesn't really exist. I think Ms. Stein should open it, just for me. But anyhoo – onto the story.

Madison needs an assistant. She starts the interview process and one particular guy, Andy, stands out. Not because he shows any particular expertise or suitability for the job, but because he gives good head and bangs Madison over the kitchen table. Yes, it starts off like that – no messing about, straight into the action. And it doesn't let up, either.

While Andy doesn't get the job, he's still sniffing around Madison and his arrogance pushes her buttons. Meanwhile, she's given quiet, shy Gabriel the job as her assistant, and he's perfect. In every way, actually. Soon, Madison is torn between the two men. Andy likes to take control of sexual situations, whereas Gabe likes to relinquish control and be humiliated. Madison's happy to play the game with both boys – but in the midst of all the kink and sexy threesomes – is she losing control herself?

I can summarise this book in one word – awesome. It has Stein's mark all over it – it's easy to read, flows well, is funny in places and of course is damn sexy. To me, it feels like a different take on threesomes and submission and domination games. It's like all three of those things – but with heart. There are feelings involved as well as body parts and this is what makes this book such a fabulous read. It's got a brilliant storyline as well as erotic sex scenes, and I recommend it to any fan of contemporary erotica.

Stopping Point – Victoria Blisse

Stopping Point is the second title in Victoria Blisse's Point Vamp series. I loved the first one, so naturally, I wanted to read this one.

The second book tells the story of Josh, a young man who's been turned into a vampire, but he doesn't quite know it yet. He's gone off normal food and all his friends smell like snacks, but he can't work out why. However, after an encounter with a scary yet sexy woman on the way home from work, things start to make sense.

Naive, and not the sharpest tool in the box, Josh finally works out what's going on and immediately turns his two best friends into vampires without their consent, figuring they'll be best mates forever.

Josh is also finding out more about the crazy woman that turned him – Cara. She's clearly quite unhinged, but the more Josh gets to know her, the more he realises that there's good reason for her being damaged. He also realises that she's damn sexy…

The plot develops as Josh and Cara get to know each other better, Josh's friends settle into their vampire life, and the three boys discover The Point, the vampire club known for it's ten-second sucking rule.

Stopping Point is full of sexual tension, action and humour. It's another fab addition to the series and I'll be looking forward to the next one!

Uniform BehaviourAnd here it is… the moment you've all been waiting for (well, a few of you at least)! The Uniform Behaviour cover is here! Ta da!

And it's got my name on it! Squee!!! Anyway, I shall leave you to drool. Would love to hear what you think!

ANOTHER Fab Review for The Great Outdoors!

The Great OutdoorsWell, what an exciting weekend! I've had a couple of fantastic pre-release reviews of Uniform Behaviour (more on that closer to the time), AND after stalking my Amazon sales stats for The Great Outdoors, I spotted another review….

This review came from "Avid book reader":

Titillating and blatantly steamy, the author has a bold voice and an intimate understanding of what makes the pulse tick and the juices flow in the erotica genre. *Fans self.* The only reason I haven't given this a full five stars is because it's two short works and I'm greedy and wanted more time with those characters. The Great Outdoors is an uber-hot combo read and I'm looking forward to longer work from this author.

So, that's just put the cherry on the top of my weekend – so thank you to my pre-release readers, you know who you are. And also many thanks to "Avid book reader", whoever you are.

If this cool review has made you want a copy of The Great Outdoors for yourself, then check out this page to see where you can grab a copy.

The Initiation of Ms Holly – K D Grace

The Initiation of Ms Holly is a book that grabs you from the very beginning. Sex on a train with a complete stranger – who wouldn't be interested?! But for the main protagonist of the novel, Rita, the sexy encounter is just the beginning of a long and arduous journey to her ultimate goal: owning the mind and body of the man that seduced her on the train.

It seems that Edward is no ordinary man. Their first date takes place at The Mount, a secretive and exclusive club in London. Rita soon discovers that at least some of the rumours are true – the place is a sex club of sorts. She's blindfolded soon after arrival at the club and told that she can't see Edward's face until she has completed a series of tasks. Confused at first, Rita is soon seduced – literally – into wanting to complete her initiation into The Mount. During the initiation she can have as much sex as she likes – just not with Edward. So her reward for completion is two-fold; she will get to see her one-time lover's face, and also make him her lover as many times as she likes!

As you'd expect, Rita's initiation is far from simple. There are many strange and difficult tasks to undertake, and not all of the members of The Mount's council want her to succeed. Queen bitch Vivienne certainly doesn't. But it seems there's more to her than meets the eye. She appears  to be obsessed with Edward and has some strange hold over him – which makes Rita all the more determined to do what's expected of her and give Vivienne something to bitch about.

I'm not saying anything else as I don't want to give anything away – but rest assured this book is absolutely packed full of wild and steamy encounters. The multitude of characters can be hard to keep track of at times, but it's definitely worth keeping your head as you follow the book through to its climactic ending and unearth the deepest, darkest secrets of The Mount and its members.

The Uniform Behaviour Line Up is Here!

Hey everyone – here is the moment you've all been waiting for! After much um-ing and ah-ing and reading of smut (it's such a tough job… break out the violins peeps!), I've chosen the stories which will be appearing in Uniform Behaviour.

So here goes:

Fireman's Lift by Rebecca Bond

In Love and War by Lexie Bay

Dirty Deeds by Victoria Blisse

Just Couldn't Wait by Lucy Felthouse

Crest of a Wave by Shermaine Williams

Sin City by Rebecca Bond

The Captain's Persuasion by Delyth Angharad

Guard Mounting by Justine Elyot

Circling by Cassandra Carr

True Confession by Indigo Skye

Weight of Duty by Madeline Elayne

Venus by Hawthorn

On Manoeuvres by Jack Delaney

Strictly No Parking by Elizabeth Coldwell

Taken with Consent by Lexie Bay

Lingua Acutus by Craig J Sorensen

There'll be some names on the list that you recognise, and some you won't. I'm proud to report that there are both established and debut authors appearing in the collection. But rest assured, each and every story has been carefully chosen by myself and they're the most steamy uniform stories you'll ever read!

The final manuscript is currently in the process of being proof-read by a pro (I can't thank you enough, you know who you are), and the cover designer is also hard at work. I had the terrible task of looking through some photographs of men in uniform to see which I liked best. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it.

So…. watch this space! Things are coming together nicely. I'm mega excited, the authors are mega excited and as soon as I have a final image of the cover I'll share it with you lovely folks!

The Business of Pleasure – Justine Elyot

Being a big fan of Justine's previous book, On Demand (review here), I was very excited to get my hands on her latest release, The Business of Pleasure. This, like the author's previous book, isn't a novel. It's a collection of short stories written to a theme. The stories all fit together like the pieces in a jigsaw, and one of the story lines is continuous. That is, it's about the same person and the stories are in chronological order. They're simply interspersed by tales of other people that inhabit the same world and social circles. I've actually made it sound more complicated than it actually is; rest assured, everything will make sense when you start reading.

The main protagonist in the book is Charlotte. Looking for some spice in her life, she signs up to have her deepest, dirtiest fantasy fulfilled by some shadowy agency which specialises in such things. She gets what she wants, and a whole lot more. Turns out the bosses running the company have an interest in her, over and above taking her money. And this is where the real fun begins. Charlotte winds up working for the guys, helping to make other people's fantasies come true.

However, Charlotte is considered to be so much more than an employee and things quickly become deeper and darker than she ever imagined possible. Is Charlotte in over her head, or can she handle the business of pleasure?

Well, what a fab book! I don't want to give too much away, but I definitely think it works as a collection of stories. I'll be honest, I didn't enjoy The Business of Pleasure quite as much as On Demand, but that's purely because some of the themes included in the book aren't to my tastes. But that's  not to say they're not to yours. There's lots of sex (naturally), spanking, bondage, swinging and much more.

The writing is superb; it flows wonderfully, the characters are very alive and the dialogue is sparky. I whizzed through the book in a matter of days, it was that interesting and easy to read.

If BDSM and darker themes are your bag, then you should definitely grab yourself a copy of this book. Immediately.

K D Grace's Book Launch at Sh! Hoxton

Last Friday, I attended the launch of K D Grace's wonderful new novel, The Initiation of Ms Holly, at the Hoxton branch of Sh! Women's Erotic Emporium.  It was the first time I'd met K D, though we'd previously done lots of chatting via email and Facebook – and it was lovely to finally meet her face to face!

I also met Kay Jaybee (another fab erotic author) for the first time, and also caught up with Sarah Berry (editor of Foreplay Magazine) and Hazel Cushion (owner of Xcite Books). There was champagne and cupcakes, sex toys galore to set the scene, and of course, K D's wonderful reading…

K D Grace

I don't want to give too much away about the book, but you can see an excerpt over on Erotica For All. I've heard the excerpt read aloud, as well as a couple of other sections of the book, and let me tell you… it's a red-hot read! I'll be reviewing it soon enough, so watch this space if you don't believe me!

So, what with all the networking…

Lucy Felthouse, Kay Jaybee, K D Grace

…larking around…

Lucy Felthouse

…and erotic fiction… a fabulous evening was had by all!

My congratulations go to K D – and I hope to be able to attend similar cool events in the future!

Calendar Girl – Sommer Marsden

Previous to Calendar Girl, I hadn't read any longer works by Sommer Marsden, so it was new territory. However, literally within one page of starting the book, I was laughing. Not at Sommer, of course, but with her (and no doubt you lot, when you read the book!). Without giving too much away, the protagonist's best friend in the book is a gay guy, and he is a right giggle. His madcap antics had me laughing my ass off on several occasions.

Anyway, the premise of the book is that the main character, Merritt Evans, comes home one day to find her beloved husband in bed with another man. Naturally, she divorces him in the blink of an eye and attempts to get on with her life. This is easier said than done, but with the help of her gay-best-friend Jeffrey, she devises a plan. She is going to be completely "no strings" for a year. To ensure this, she must have a new man for each month, and no longer. No lingering allowed.

Merritt's excited at first at the thought of having a new man every month, just lots of sex, lots of fun and no emotions required. And she's having damn hot sex, let me tell you. However, just a few months down the line, Merritt meets a man that makes her think perhaps she's had enough of the calendar game. But should she stick to her guns and see out the year – and potentially risk losing him? Or should she throw in the towel and see what a new relationship brings? Only one way to find out…

Calendar Girl is an absolutely fabulous book. As I said, it had me laughing on a regular basis, but it also had me feeling frisky, too. It is the perfect mix of engaging storyline, likeable characters, smoking-hot sex and light-hearted fun. I can't recommend this enough.

Totty Tuesday – Matthew Davis

Matthew Davis12th October 2010 – Well, the Vampire Diaries series two has just started over here in the UK. I haven't watched the first episode yet (ooh, and the second one starts in less than 20 minutes! RECORD!) as I was re-watching series one. I'm all up to date now and will start on series two very soon. So, in honour of this, and just because it's a good excuse, this week's Totty Tuesday is Matthew Davis. He plays Alaric Saltzman in the show, and he's definitely the hottest history teacher I've ever seen. I certainly don't remember any of my schoolteachers being sexy, let alone my history teachers.

In the show, he's pretty kick ass, and he has a passionate and justified hatred of Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder. Rumour has it, though, that in real-life they have this "bro-mance" thing going on. Which just  makes him all the more sexy, if you can see where my mucky mind is going with this…

He's been in quite a lot of other stuff, including chick-flick Legally Blonde, which I have seen, but I don't remember him in it. And what better an excuse to dig out a bit of Reese Witherspoon? Now that sounded dirty too, but it wasn't meant to… ahh, take it how you like!

So, anyway, enjoy! Anyone else got the hots for this hunky historian?
