Knock Knock Pads Reach Presidential Status
We made it to the White House! (Sort of.) Knock Knock had the honor of contributing two of our classic notepads (Pack This! and All Out Of) to the guests of this year’s TIME and People Pre-White House Correspondents’ Cocktail Party on April 29—adding a little wit to the busy lifestyles of the elite.
Thank you to TIME and People for considering Knock Knock for this hip event—we’re feeling exceptionally presidential today.
Our Pack This! Pad is a checklist of everything you could ever need on a trip—perfect for both business and leisure travels (perhaps aboard Air Force One?).
Our bestselling All Out Of Pad is a great tool for any head of household—or head of state.
For over 100 years, the President and First Lady have hosted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD)—a soirée to connect with journalists, reporters, celebs, and socialites. Preceding the WHCD was People and TIME’s cocktail party, held at the swanky St. Regis Hotel each year. Party guests mixed together some famous faces, including: model Karlie Kloss, journalists Tamron Hall and Savannah Guthrie, actors Scott Foley and Michael Kelly, actresses Vivica A. Fox, Connie Britton, Sela Ward, and Candace Cameron-Bure, and comedian Keegan-Michael Key, to name a few. If there were ever a time to mingle with your favorite public figure and simultaneously discuss the meaning behind Beyonce’s Lemonade (or what we’d do: gush over an array of cat selfies in your phone), this was it.

Actresses Candace Cameron-Bure and Tamera Mowry make their appearance at Time and People’s Pre-WHCD Cocktail Party. (The 90’s nostalgia is real.)
We’re beaming with pride to have been part of such a prominent and star-studded event. See other photos on Twitter and Instagram with hashtag #PeopleTimeParty. If you have a shindig where Knock Knock product could work the crowd, contact us at publicity@knockknockstuff.com.
Also, become commander in chief of your own trips with the Pack This! Pad and All Out Of Pad.

A Night with General Assembly and Type Ed
What goes into the nitty-gritty of designing a restaurant’s menu? Their dining area? Their wow-that-looks-exceptionally-heavy signage? A few months ago we had the pleasure of partnering with General Assembly Los Angeles and the typography experts at TypeEd and LA is Just My Type for an event with New York design firm MEMO’s owner and creative director Douglas Riccardi. Riccardi, who has designed for Mario Batali’s Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza, West Hollywood’s Connie & Ted’s, and Coney Island’s iconic Paul’s Daughter, shared the significant components of successful restaurant branding strategy—finding potential in a company’s crumbs. (It’s safe to say we were very hungry after his presentation.)
We had a great time meeting, mingling, and snacking at General Assembly’s Santa Monica campus with fellow Los Angeles designers. Each attendee headed home with a Plumb Tangle Notebook and Why You’re So Awesome Fill in the Love™ Journal.

Attendees waiting for the talk to begin, checking out our Plumb Tangle Notebook and Why You’re So Awesome Fill in the Love™ Journal.

Melanie Gasmen, our associate digital marketing producer, spoke a few words about Knock Knock before Mr. Riccardi started his talk. (She did not approve of this photo, but we posted it anyway. Gotcha, Mel!)

Douglas Riccardi, MEMO’s owner and creative director.

MEMO concentrates on restaurant and hospitality branding and has designed for Mario Batali’s Mozza restaurants.

Riccardi helped rebrand Coney Island’s iconic eatery, Paul’s Daughter.

Riccardi talks to designers about the pillars of restaurant branding.

Each attendee went home with our Tangle Notebook and Why You’re So Awesome FIll in the Love™ Journal.

6 Simple Desk Organizing Tips You’ll Want to Try this Week
Having a go-getter lifestyle can possibly lead to strewn papers everywhere, old succulents desperately in need of water, and a desktop calendar dated 2014—but no more! With the heat of spring cleaning upon us, here are quick tips to give your desk a facelift for the season, straight from the mouths of busy bees.
1. GET JAR-HAPPY.
“I organize all my many pens by type in small jelly jars. I buy them at the grocery store by the carton (the kind used for canning preserves). Then I label them as brush pens, felt tips, pencils, rollerballs, etc. and I have them all lined up along the wall. At home, I keep colored pencils organized by color, brushes and other art supplies in the same jars as well as regular pens and pencils.” —Ana of the Well-Appointed Desk

2. USE YOUR WALL SPACE.
“I keep tidbits of research, reminders, and family pics (to keep me centered) on a dual-sided bulletin board; one side is cork and one side is a magnetic dry-erase board.” —Trae Bodge of traebodge.com

3. CHOOSE DELIBERATE DÉCOR.
“Rather than having a bunch of crap cluttering the top of my desk, I opt for hanging up well-designed graphics that are nice to look at without taking up space. I have the small version of one from Emily McDowell (one of my favorite designers) and am currently lusting over this pennant from Benny Gold.” —Amanda Waas of You’re Welcome

4. GO VERTICAL.
“Organizing vertically gives you more desk space. The clear-drawer thing with all of the washi tape in my photo [seen below] is actually two glasses cases stacked on top of each other. But as you can see, they fit washi tape perfectly. Also, I love the two vertical pieces around it.” —Lesli of Put a Little Umbrella in Your Drink

5. PRIORITIZE PILES.
“I may have piles on my desk, but they are organized and accessible—sorted in clumps like ‘strategy, activation, follow-up, refinement, or completion’ so that I can prioritize and edit as I move throughout the day. I think visually, so seeing everything out on my desk is part of my process, but it has to have a sense of organization or I’ll go mad—plus the sheer discomfort of what the office cleaning crew might think if it wasn’t.” —Trish Abbot, SVP of Brand Development at Knock Knock

Group and sort piles of tasks by steps—activation, follow-up, refinement, or completion. Sometimes visually laying it all out helps!
6. JUST THROW IT AWAY ALREADY.
“Wrap up your day a few minutes before your hard stop. Go through any scribble notes from the day, add items to your to-do list as necessary, and throw them away. Organize all paperwork and make sure that all urgent items were handled. The better you leave your desk, the better it will feel first thing the next morning.” —Lauren Berger of Intern Queen

BONUS TIP: “I also keep my day on track with a notepad, like the Today’s Plan of Attack from Knock Knock.”—Trae Bodge. Check out more organizational stuff.
