A Night with General Assembly and Type Ed

What goes into the nitty-gritty of designing a restaurant’s menu? Their dining area? Their wow-that-looks-exceptionally-heavy signage? A few months ago we had the pleasure of partnering with General Assembly Los Angeles and the typography experts at TypeEd and LA is Just My Type for an event with New York design firm Memo’s owner and creative director Douglas Riccardi.

Riccardi, who has designed for Mario Batali’s Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza, West Hollywood’s Connie & Ted’s, and Coney Island’s iconic Paul’s Daughter, shared the significant components of successful restaurant branding strategy—finding potential in a company’s crumbs. (It’s safe to say we were very hungry after his presentation.)

We had a great time meeting, mingling, and snacking at General Assembly’s Santa Monica campus with fellow Los Angeles designers. Each attendee headed home with a Plumb Tangle Notebook and Why You’re So Awesome Fill in the Love™ Journal.
