Book Signings and CrimeFest
I’ve just returned from giving two talks in Cornwall where the sun was shining, the sea was blue and the crowds were flocking to St Ives, which was my first port of call on Tuesday morning at 11am. I met some delightful people as always and my heartfelt thanks to them for listening to me talking about how I write and for buying my books. After a quick sandwich lunch sitting in the cemetery overlooking the bay it was about an hour’s drive to St Austell Library where, once again, I met some lovely people, answered questions about my marine mystery crime novels and signed books before setting homewards.
My next stop was meant to be CrimeFest in Bristol for my panel interview on Friday 15 May, but due to unforeseen circumstances I have had to pull out. I am really disappointed as I was looking forward to speaking at the event and meeting so many crime authors and crime fiction fans. If you are attending and hoping to see me and hear me talk, please accept my apologies. I will be back next year. My books will still be on sale at CrimeFest but I won’t be there to sign them – sorry. For anyone who is disappointed not to meet me, please e mail me or leave a comment here if you have a particular question you wanted to ask me. If you require signed copies you can order direct by visiting my official web site at http://www.rowmark.co.uk
My next book signing and talk is at Ferndown Library, Dorset on Tuesday 2 June at 10.30am. All welcome e mail: ferndownlibrary@dorsetcc.gov.uk Tel: 01202 874542 And I promise I will be there.

A busy Autumn ahead
It's official, Autumn is here (according to the Metrological office in Great Britain) and it's shaping up to be a lively time with several book signings and talks lined up, as well as the release of The Suffocating Sea in large print and news when the NEW Andy Horton crime novel, Blood Upon The Sand, will be published.
September kicks off with a trip to the north of England where I will be giving talks at Newcastle Library and North Shields Library on 29 September. Then it's off to North Yorkshire to join fellow crime writers, Ruth Rendell, Ian Rankin and Peter Robinson at the Richmond Walking and Book Festival where I will be talking at a lunch on 30 September.
In October I'll be at Portsmouth Library on the 15th, then it's Lee-on-the-Solent Library on 4 November and Southampton on 17 November where I will be guest speaker at a lunch in aid of Wessex Cancer Trust.
I've also got some appearances lined up for 2010. For further details you can visit my official web site http://www.rowmark.co.uk

Talks, public appearances and radio interview - Pauline Rowson talking to Rob Richardson at Express FM
It was the 25th birthday party of the Southsea Afternoon branch of the Women's Institute last Wednesday and I was honoured to be their guest speaker. There was a great turn out at what is clearly a thriving branch of the WI. Well done ladies, thank you for asking me to talk to you about my crime novels and my marine mystery police procedurals featuring my hunky DI, Inspector Andy Horton.
My next public appearance is at the Oxfam Books and Music Shop in Fareham, Hampshire where I will officially kick-start the annual Oxfam BookFest on 3 July. I will be there between 10.30 a.m. and 11.30.a.m.
But before that, on 8 June 2010 at 7pm, I am giving a radio interview with Rob Richardson of Express FM. It is broadcast on 93.7 or you can listen live via the Express FM web site. I'm talking to Rob about my crime novels and how I write, although the interview was recorded last week and I can't recall exactly what I said now! Perhaps I'd better listen to it!

Crime author Pauline Rowson looks back over the highlights of 2011
With the New Year almost upon us it's that time of year to take a look back over the events of 2011, and for me it's been a busy and productive year.
January saw the launch of the second Crime Writers’ Association Young Crime Writers Competition 2011. I was the judge of the South Coast entries with the winner going forward for the National prize which was announced during National Crime Writing Week 13 - 19 June.
During January my media appearances included an interview with Sally Cronin on Portsmouth Live TV, with Julian Clegg on BBC Radio Solent and with Darren Gamblen on Express FM 93.7FM.
On the book front January saw the publication of another Inspector Andy Horton crime novel. Footsteps On The Shore, the sixth in the Inspector Andy Horton series was published in hardback by Severn House both in the UK and in the USA where it received great reviews.
February kicked off with another media interview on Express FM (93.7FM) when I was on the Terry In The Afternoon Show, and on 24 February Dead Man's Wharf (the fourth in the Inspector Andy Horton series)was published by Severn House in Large Print
More media interviews followed in March on the Julian Clegg Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Solent and there was a trip over the Isle of Wight to be interviewed by David Nove on Angel Radio.
Dead Man's Wharf, hailed as 'an exemplary procedural' in the USA was published in mass market paperback.
April saw the publication of Blood on the Sand, number five in the DI Andy Horton series in mass market paperback. Also in April there was a visit to the London Book Fair and following this on Sunday 17 April I gave a talk on what inspires me to write my marine mystery crime novels at the Isle of Wight Festival, Ventnor.
In addition, in April came the announcement of the winner of the Young Crime Writers' Competition and the presentation of prizes and certificates at Portsmouth Central Library. George Neame, the southern area winner of the CWA Young Crime Writers Competition received a certificate, a £10 book token and a copy of two DI Andy Horton crime novels.
In May I appeared on the Book Programme on Live @ Five on Portsmouth Live TV and again on the Julian Clegg Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Solent. My public appearances included at talk given to the The Probus Club of Havant where I talked about the inspiration behind my DI Andy Horton marine mystery crime series and how I write my crime and thriller novels.
May also saw the annual crime convention - CrimeFest where I was on a panel and met up with DI Andy Horton fans from as far afield as America and Australia, other crime authors and my publisher.
13- 19 June was National Crime Writing Week, organised by the Crime Writers' Association of Great Britain (CWA), of which I am a member. During the week I ran a Crime Writing Workshop at Quay Arts Centre on the Isle of Wight.
Then on June 20 it was another trip across the Solent to Newport on the Isle of Wight to present prizes to the winners of the Wight Fair Writers Circle Crime Writing Competition.
I also appeared on the Alex Dyke Show on BBC Radio Solent.
In August Footsteps on the Shore, number six in the DI Horton series, was published in paperback, and in September it was published as an e book and on Kindle.
Also in September, I appeared on Portsmouth Live TV on the Adrian and Sally Show when I was joined by Fingerprint expert, Jane Aston from Hampshire Constabulary.
In October came appearances on BBC Radio Solent, Express FM Radio, Vectis Radio IOW, and on Angel Radio talking to David Nove with fellow crime authors Bob and Carol Bridgestock who also appeared with me at CSI Portsmouth in November.
November brought with it the highly successful annual event: CSI Portsmouth where crime fact meets crime fiction. This was held on Saturday 5 November during Portsmouth BookFest.
I gave a talk on 'Writing the Crime Novel,' and appeared on a panel with Mark Billingham, John Harvey and Michael Ridpath and with police and forensic experts. It was a great day.
Other public appearances during the month included a very successful talk at the U3A Sarum, Salisbury meeting on 16 November.
In December Blood on the Sand, the fifth in the DI Horton series was published in Large Print by Severn House. And once again I was delighted to be one of Julian Clegg's guests at his Christmas Party on 23 December.
All in all a very productive and successful year. Looking forward to 2012 with lots more talks, media interviews and guest appearances coming up, and of course the publication of more crime novels starting with the NEW DI Andy Horton marine mystery police procedural crime novel, number seven in this popular series: A Killing Coast published on 26 January 2012.
Wishing all my readers and very happy, healthy and successful 2012.

Lovely to meet readers at Newcastle and Hartlepool Libraries
I'm back from a very successful mini tour of the North East of England where I was invited to give two talks.
This is the third time in three years that I have been invited to talk to readers in the North East of England and I shall be back up there at Gateshead Library on 25 April 2013.
I was speaking at Newcastle City Library on 12 November and on Tuesday 13 November I was at Seaton Carew Library, Hartlepool giving a talk as part of Hartlepool Borough Library twenty first anniversary celebrations. The audience at both events were as delightful as ever and I was thrilled to meet so many DI Andy Horton fans and to also introduce my crime and thriller novels to some new readers.
My thanks to both Newcastle and Hartlepool Library Services for organising the events and to all library staff for the fantastic and highly worthwhile service they provide to the community. Without the library service it would be a very barren landscape.
The DI Andy Horton novels are set in the Solent area on the South Coast of England where I live.

A busy year ahead with new DI Horton crime novel, events and interviews
It’s customary at this time of the year to look ahead to the coming year and while none of us can predict what 2013 will bring and how it will shake out I’ve taken the opportunity to highlight on my website blog some of the things that are planned. Here's a taster. You can read the full entry on my website
First up I’m looking forward to the publication of the ninth in the DI Andy Horton marine mystery crime series, Undercurrent, which will be published in hardcover by Severn House in the UK in January and in the USA in May. It will also be released as an ebook in May. So another one in the series to keep DI Horton fans happy. And as to whether he will discover the truth behind his mother’s disappearance over thirty years ago… well you’ll have to buy (or borrow the book from the library) to find out.
I’m also pleased to announce that Footsteps on the Shore, the sixth in the DI Horton series, will be published in Large Print by Severn House in March. It is already available in paperback and as an ebook.
You can read more about my books, events, radio and video interviews for 2013 on my website at http://www.rowmark.co.uk
Wishing all my readers a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2013.
