Goblins Gobbling Candy Paranormal-Scope
The mythology of goblins changes according to the country and story. They can be mischievous and greedy. They might be helpful. I said might.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
Goblins are greedy for the things they love. Some love candy. It’s actually better to let them eat all the leftover candy from Halloween. You don’t want to hurt yourself by overindulging. Moderation in all things will help you this week.
Taurus:
Goblins are great managing money. You will want to take another look at your budget to ensure that you are saving enough.
Gemini:
Goblins feel lonely when no one is around. So does everyone. Stay in touch with those near and dear to you.
Cancer:
Some goblins are famous for their dancing. There is such a thing as dancing at home. It’s great exercise and music, in general, brightens any mood.
Leo:
Goblins enjoy a good joke or funny story. If there are sad things happening around you, watch some funny movies or a comedy show. Laughter helps us
Virgo:
Goblins have their own interest first. You put others first. Give yourself some special time. You are important too.
Libra:
Goblins complain about a lot especially the weather. Stay close to home and make your place more comfortable and relaxing.
Scorpio:
Goblins never worry about exercise. They run whenever they want. Before starting any new exercise program, check with your physician first.
Sagittarius:
Goblins hold their money with tight fists. Sometimes it is wise to do so. Be leery of money advice without checking it out thoroughly.
Capricorn:
Goblins gossip. Avoid being involved. Spent some alone time on a favorite project.
Aquarius:
Goblins never work too hard, but people often do. Be conscientious at your job, but truly relax when you get home.
Pisces:
Goblins have their moments when they are creative. Indulge yourself in a favorite hobby or try something new.

A Halloween Party by Susan Hanniford Crowley
Yesterday it snowed, and even though it melted somewhat in the part of the yard where we created our graveyard, it was still slippery. This was part of the Halloween party for the grandchildren and a guest.
This is what I did.
I made 3 large sliplock bags each for each child. For example, there were three bags filled with treats, stickers, little toys, etc. with the letter P written large on a piece of paper in it for Penelope. They were to look for only their letter and leave the others alone.
Due to the snow, there was a no running rule.
For the very little children, moms and or dads were allowed to help.
With all the giggling and the wandering from stone to stone, they were excited when they found a bag with their letter.
After the graveyard, I had the children make a line in front of the Fortune Teller who told them a fabulous fortune and then gave them a stuffed forest creature to help them on their quest.
Next we moved to the open garage set with a table for a meal of pizza, juice boxes, and cupcakes. At each child place was a little treat bag. As always some children finish before others so I handed out little books that had that magic marker. One marker can go across the page and unleash different colors as they went.
When we were all finished and the temperature was getting colder, we gave each child a pumpkin to decorate at home.
(Originally we were going to play an additional game and decorate pumpkins here, but between Covid precautions and a more wintery temperature, we reorganized the party a bit.)
Everyone had tremendous fun, and we were glad to have them party on a small scale with us. I will post more photos on my Facebook profile. Look for Susan Hanniford Crowley.
Have a safe Halloween and may you have many more.

Who Will We Be?
We are days away from our presidential election and the tension everywhere is palpable. Any way you look at it, there are reminders about how this is such a big event. And yes, it will be but this whole year has been, hasn’t it?
So today I’m not here to talk politics or tell you to vote although yes that is important. I’m here to ask you how you want to remember this year and what it has changed for you and for all of us. We’ve certainly had a lot more time with our own thoughts given it isn’t easy or in some cases feasible to go out and travel or eat out with others. What have you thought about? What matters to you now?
These are big questions but then, there is a lot that’s gone on. Perhaps you’ve lost a friend or family member to Covid or you yourself have been sick. Perhaps you have hung out with close friends for months. How does it all make you feel and is there anything you want to change going forward?
I know we will get passed this some way or another, but I don’t know when that is and I’m not sure who I will be when we get to the other side. That being said, I’m a planner and if anything, determined to make the best of the challenges we’ve faced and those that remain to come.
Happy writing this week!

Amazing Sacred Animals Paranormal-Scope
There are animals in everyday life and in mythology that has been viewed in positive ways, such as, giving protection, warding off evil, and giving good luck.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
Cats were loved by the Egyptians as guardians of their homes, the family, and the protector of the family’s food. Have you been eating healthy? Try to get in some exercise, too, as approved by your physician.
Taurus:
The Ibis was a symbol of the Egyptian god Thoth, who was the patron of writing, libraries, scribes, and knowledge. This would be a great time to take an online course.
Gemini:
The Chinese view the bat as good luck. A bat on a greeting card means the sender is wishing you good health and fortune. Time to write a card or two to those you love.
Cancer:
Bears are also viewed as good luck. A bear could feed a Native American family for a long time. Consider the foods you buy and how long they would last in a power outage.
Leo:
The scarab beetle was viewed by ancient Egyptians as good luck. As it would wrap its eggs in mud in the sun, using the sun as an incubator. Be resourceful with what you have.
Virgo:
Bulls are viewed by many cultures as a sign of good health and wealth. Work on improving your health and save your money.
Libra:
For the Chinese, the deer represents longevity and prosperity. This may be the time to create something from your heart.
Scorpio:
The frog is considered good luck for travelers. Plan a day trip soon to just relax in nature.
Sagittarius:
To many cultures, gold fish represented harmony. Seek a harmonious and tranquil life. Be a good listeners for those who need to get matters off their chest.
Capricorn:
Horses have represented power and beauty. You have those qualities in abundance. You have the power to influence and to give love.
Aquarius:
The ancient Saxon people believed that to see a rabbit hop across the snow meant spring was on its way. Change may be affected by the past. Remain calm regardless.
Pisces:
Eagles are revered by some Native American tribes as embodying courage, freedom, power, wisdom, and strength. You have outgrown some children fears. Be proud of yourself for being a stronger person now.

Falling by Susan Hanniford Crowley
It seems at times like we are falling, but we aren’t. We’re changing. Most people have a hard time with change. I know I do.
Things are very hard for a lot of people right now. Covid-19 has changed so much and we are constantly taking in information on what we should do and figuring out to survive.
Keeping in touch with those we cherish is vitally important both to them and us. While FaceTime is fine, you might want to send cards or packages. Be creative to bring joy to others. Stay strong with love.
I always consider when I watch the leaves fall, that they are hunkering down to survive their hard time. It’s our chance to learn from the trees.
Have a pleasant weekend. I am going to a farmers’ market to get some pumpkins.
Please, be safe for Halloween and may you have many more.

Emotions and Trust
Emotions are silly wondrous things and it never ceases to amaze me just how much we let them rule our lives— from the decisions we make to the battles we pick in life. When it comes to determining what is important to us, the play a big role as to who we feel we can trust.
Should anything happen to us, are we okay with leaving our kids to that uncle who couldn’t care less about us? Do we want to have Thanksgiving with people who make us feel anything but grateful? Are we willing to buy a car from that salesman who is clearly trying to squeeze us for every penny?
It all boils down to how we feel and whom we can properly trust. And it may sound simple but it is oh so fragile. Look at our country, our world even. Would you say we are a trusting people? Could we be? Look, I know I’m asking the questions but I definitely don’t know the answers. Still, I’m an optimist so I have hope. I’m not sure what it would take us to get there. It may be a whole lot of little things versus one big thing, but that’s all still possible.
In the meantime have a good week and cheers to a lot of productive writing!

Batty Paranormal-Scope
Bats can be delightful creatures and certainly don’t deserve their fearsome reputation. They ate many of the insects that harm human beings. A bat ripped apart a hornet’s nest on my house. He rested on the house for a couple of days. We named him Igor. This week the bats have taken over the paranormal-scope. Let’s see what they’re up to.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
Bats are very committed. They don’t start anything new until they know the lay of the land first, and you might do the same. Research before making any decisions.
Taurus:
Obstacles in your way might make you flitter around in frustration like a bat. Have the patience to wait it out.
Gemini:
Bats love to travel. Plan short trips of interest that are safe and require the least of your finances.
Cancer:
The bat way to relax is to hang around. Release the stress you’ve been feeling with bubbles baths, meditation, reading a book in a quiet room, or something like that.
Leo:
Bats are happiest hanging out with friends and family. Make contacts and plan some safe events you can enjoy. Hiking! Picnicking!
Virgo:
Bats usually plan their nightly excursions. Do some life planning of things you’ve always wanted to do. Keep a journal.
Libra:
Bats become anxious if there are too many people around. Find a trusted few that you talk to regularly.
Scorpio:
Bats are clear in their purpose as they fly around eating insects. If you need clarification at work ask for it. If you don’t understand, ask questions.
Sagittarius:
Bats love other bats as mates and friends. Keep those you love close to you. Stay in contact.
Capricorn:
Bats don’t keep count on which bat ate the most bugs. Don’t indulge in competition. Don’t compare yourself to others. Feed your passion to focus and get work done. Enjoy what you do.
Aquarius:
Even bats can’t fly right away. They have to learn. Give yourself the time to learn new things. Then soar.
Pisces:
Bats live by routine. It keeps them going and balanced in life. Do the same for yourself. Create a positive routine you can live with.

Excerpt from Vampire in the Basement by Susan Hanniford Crowley
Books don’t always come in sequence. When I was writing my first series, Vampires in Manhattan, I started off with When Love Survives which is about two paranormal rescue workers in New York that find love. It wasn’t until Book 4, Vampire in the Basement that I continued Regina and Gregor’s story. Here’s an excerpt! Enjoy.
*
Waking up with Gregor’s strong naked body against hers was a hundred times delicious, so delicious, that it was easy to forget they were sharing a makeshift bed of an open sleeping bag and blankets in a cave somewhere in Maine. His great, strong arms embraced her securely, not so tightly as to impede breathing, but enough to make Regina feel worshipped and adored and aware that he was still worried about her. The raw energy of the forest beyond the cave flowed into her, increasing her strength and making her glad to finally realize her half-elf, half-leprechaun heritage. The horrible feeling of having her life sucked out was almost gone.
The man holding onto her so tightly saved her life and sanity. A part of Regina questioned if she loved Gregor because of that. She closed her eyes and thought back to that time climbing through the rubble of the towers, listening to the screams in her head, as she tried to locate survivors. Regina could still see the face of the dying man. All she did was send a spark through him like she’d done thousands of times before to recharge batteries. But this time it was enough to save a life. Sighing, she hugged Gregor and he responded by squeezing her a little tighter. Gazing at his handsome sleeping face framed by thick dark hair made her heart finally peaceful. Gregor was her refuge, her champion, and everything she needed love to be. My big, brave bear of a man.
Gregor growled in his sleep, and she couldn’t help kissing the stubble of beard on his cheek. How does he always manage to look so ‘drink me up sexy’? A part of her couldn’t help but be annoyed, but the other part of her enjoyed looking at him too much. Then he moved onto his back, and she couldn’t resist crawling on top of him and brushing her lips ever so gently on his.
In one swift movement, he had her on her back. His blue Maine summer day eyes sparkled with mischief.

If you are planning to be a shape-shifter or elf or leprechaun for Halloween, remember to wear a mask. (Giggles. I couldn’t help myself.)
Please, be safe for Halloween and may you have many more.

For The Love Of…NaNoWriMo by Artemis Crow
Ah, fall. Time of brightly colored leaves, crisp air, and pumpkin spice…everywhere. Here in NH it’s getting cool enough to contemplate fires in the fireplace and hot chocolate! Bliss!
For this writer, and thousands of others around the world, it’s also time to prepare for NaNoWriMo, also known as National Novel Writing Month, starting November 1st. The goal is to devote every spare moment for 30 days to writing that novel, novella, collection of poems or short stories, or whatever project you want to expend your creative energy writing. For many the goal is to “win”, that is reach 50,000 words or more. That may sound like a lot, but it breaks down to 1667 words a day for 30 days.
I did NaNoWriMo in 2018 and managed to write a little over 104,000 words, which was a lot. I was brain-fried by the end, but I proved that I could do it. This year I plan to stick to 50k instead so I can take a little easier pace, giving me time to make adjustments to my story as needed without falling behind. Am I glad I did it? You bet, and I encourage all of you to participate.
https://www.novel-software.com/nanowrimo
But I write a blog, you say? Then plan several blog topics in advance and write a month’s worth of posts. You may not reach 50k words but think about how many posts you will have done for the future! There truly is nothing you couldn’t use NaNoWriMo for, so sign up!
There are many writing blogs with information to help you prep for the month. There are local support groups, and genre writers, and buddies you can connect with for the month to help your motivation. There are badges you can earn for all sorts of reasons, and famous writers who pop in with encouragement and blogs filled with advice. And swag, don’t forget the swag.
K.M. Weiland has a great blog post about prepping for NaNoWriMo: https://www.helpingwritersbecomeauthors.com/preparing-for-nanowrimo/
Alexandra Sokoloff also has a great site with tips for NoNo: http://www.screenwritingtricks.com/2020/10/
http://www.screenwritingtricks.com/p/how-to-use-this-blog.html
https://blog.nanowrimo.org/post/188884075156/how-to-create-an-outline-for-your-novel-in
Bottom line, I hope to see you all there. If you write 100 words or 100,000 words, they all count, they are all valuable, they all are words that didn’t exist on October 31st. You can make NaNoWriMo as communal, or as private, as you need to make it the best experience for you. This is about you and the story in your head that needs to get out. Take the 30 days and make it about yourself and your writing.
You are worth it!
BTW I’m ACrow, I’d love to have you as a buddy!
May your words flow freely,
Artemis

Running Ragged
Okay, so admittedly I’m going to keep this one a bit shorter. By the title you can guess what this post is about. Yes, once again I seem to be running myself ragged. I know, I really must be a glutton for punishment.
What is it I did this time you ask? Well, my family and I got a puppy. And yes, he is sooooo cute but wow, is he a lot of work. None of this is a surprise of course, which is why I mentioned earlier that I must be a glutton for punishment. So here we are, 4 days into life with a puppy, a husband, two kids, a mother in law and a partridge in a pear tree—just joking on that last bit!
Still, despite the exhaustion and the noise of late, I’m having fun and the boys are happy and who can resist the complete sweetness of a puppy. I will say I’ve wanted a dog for a while so all the work involved isn’t too bad. I just try to take it a task at a time.
Happy writing this week!
