Quiz Time!

If you’re on social media, you can’t avoid those quizzes that are all over the place. Now there’s one that Thornbrook Park’s Aunt Agatha might enjoy. Though, I’m not sure she would approve. It’s a fun diversion, but she might argue that true aura reading involves personal interaction. Still, enjoy.

http://quizsocial.com/what-color-is-y...

I get yellow:

Your aura is yellow. You can always be counted on for optimism and encouragement, and you have a knack for saying just the right words at the right time. Those with yellow auras tend to have great health, probably in part due to their pleasant disposition. Though you occasionally over-analyze situations, you only mean to make yourself and others as happy as possible.

But Aunt Agatha has told me I’m a lavender. Thornbrook Park’s Lady Alice is a yellow. Still, I love quizzes. Enjoy!

What I’m Reading 4/6

Lately, I’m enjoying suspense novels. Last year’s Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn had me eager to read more by the author. I picked up Dark Places and couldn’t put it down. Next, I have Sharp Objects ready to go.

But right now, I’m in the middle of The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison, recommended to people who enjoyed Gone Girl. So far, so good.

Highland Adventures/New Discoveries

Thanks to friend, author Terri Brisbin, I discovered a new app, Waterlogue. Waterlogue turns your photographs into lovely watercolors. It’s not a free app, but not pricey (I picked it up for $2.99 from Apple).

Also fun, Terri Brisbin’s books. I’m enjoying Highland adventures thanks to my favorite authors of Scottish historical romance, Terri Brisbin (The Highlander’s Dangerous Temptation, and more), Kathleen Givens (On a Highland Shore, and more), and Juliette Miller (Highlander Taken, and more).

Now Available!

“Delightfully wicked romance.”

ONCE WICKED. First published by Dell Books in 2000, Sherri Browning’s second historical romance is back as an e-book, available for Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and iBooks. If you love your Regency romances on the lighter side, try Once Wicked.

Once shameless. When the highwayman galloped into her life, stole her precious ring, and left her with a searing kiss, Amelia Benedict swore to get justice. But suddenly the notoriously aloof Miss Benedict began to speak of love, of marriage to her dashing gentleman suitors, inspired by the exciting new desires the masked bandit had made her feel. And then the highwayman struck again, stirring her passions to feverish heights, making her certain that no proper gentleman would do.

Once reckless. By day he graced the garden parties of the ton searching for a wealthy wife. At night he became the highwayman, stealing from the rich he despised. Ousted from Oxford and disinherited by his uncle, the crotchety earl of Stoke, Dylan Marlow vowed to restore his lost fortune at any cost. Until beautiful, innocent Amelia Benedict fell in love with the masked phantom, compelling him to become a real man to win her hand. But how could he compete with himself for the woman who had stolen his roguish heart?

I’ve done it! Indie Publishing!

I’ve joined the ranks of my author friends who have reclaimed the rights of their previously published books and re-released them on their own.

ONCE WICKED, my second book, first published in 2000 by Dell Books, is now available at Amazon for Kindle, at Barnes & Noble for Nook, at Kobo, and iBooks. The original cover featured a purple mask. The redesigned cover, by Kim Killion at Hot Damn Designs, is a little steamier, but equally striking.

wickedSherriBrowning_OnceWicked_800pxOnce Wicked, a whimsical romp, is the story of an heiress falling in love with a highwayman. It’s light-hearted and fun, a frivolous diversion, and quite unlike most of the books I’ve written (which are somewhat more serious, though every bit as fun).

So much was going on in my life when I was writing and promoting Once Wicked that I think I really needed a laugh. I broke my arm. My father-in-law passed away. My dad was in a major motorcycle accident and lapsed into a six week coma. It was a tough time. I bounced back, eventually, but I took a few years off before I started writing again. If you like whimsical Regency romance, you might enjoy Once Wicked.

Thornbrook Park, First Review!

Bookworm2Bookworm blog’s Connie highly recommends! You can see the review here:

http://bookworm2bookworm.wordpress.com/2014/03/13/thornbrook-park-by-sherri-browning/

Some highlights?

This story was written beautifully with obviously an eye to the social and political changes of the time period. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the author made them all so real. This is the first book I have read by Sherri Browning, and I am on a quest to read more of them.

“Thornbrook Park” will be published on June 3, 2014 and I highly recommend it.

In a world poised for epic change…

Disowned for marrying beneath her, Eve Kendal has returned to England destitute after her husband’s death and the mysterious disappearance of their savings. She’s looking for survival, not romance. But from London to the Yorkshire countryside to the elegant estate of Thornbrook Park, Eve’s path seems destined to cross that of the dashing but violent Captain Marcus Thorne.

Anything can happen

For Marcus, a return home means facing the demons that drove him to war in the first place. As he and Eve begin a steamy affair, tensions that had been simmering just beneath the surface threaten to explode and shake the very foundations of Thornbrook Park.

Praise for Sherri Browning:

“Browning gives the reader a most beguiling story and a classic plotline while capturing the atmosphere of the era.” —RT Book Reviews

A Room with a View

I finished my work for the day early and rewarded myself with my favorite movie, A Room with a View. I first saw it when I was in college. Helena Bonham Carter with her beautiful hair. Julian Sands, and those muscular thighs. Daniel Day Lewis. Maggie Smith. Judi Dench.

That kiss! My favorite movie kiss between George Emerson and Lucy Honeychurch in the romantic Italian field. And, okay, the bathing scene…

Love this movie! It’s a decadent Friday afternoon. But also, I can call it research. It was watching this movie that I first fell in love with Edwardian England, and I can always absorb more details from the time period. :) a room with a view 4a room with a view 3
