Tissue please.

Cold and Flu season, a wonderful time of year. Everyone is snotty, stuffy, and miserable. Kids are missing school, you can't go to a doctor's office without wearing the beautiful and stylish white masks and if you're like me, you keep a good distance between yourself and that person in the next aisle who looks like the walking dead. Worse is when you realize you are that person and you can't get away from yourself.

Last night Kennedy's cold worsened, her fever rose, some sort of dam burst...

Trick or Treat and all that stuff

Halloween is approaching, it seems to have come around rapidly this year, I barely remember the hazy days of summer. Oh, that's right, we didn't have any of those this year. Well, not many.

The leaves have begun falling from the trees, which is really pissing me off because now, rather than just cutting the grass that desperately needs to be cut, I must rake the damn leaves first. Of course, I'll rake and bag a ton, cut the grass, and then the tree will shake another load off for me to rake...

Remembering Granny, Happy Birthday Audrey Lenore Thiele

Picture The Good Old DaysToday is a very special day, and rather than write about the usual unimportant, fun kind of stuff, I'm going to wish my Grandma a very happy birthday. We miss you Granny, coming up on one year since you left, it doesn't get any easier.  But the memories are definitely sweeter.

Audrey Theile raised 13 kids and made a huge impact on many more grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her laugh was one of a kind, I still hear it now and then when I think of something funny, as...

State of mind.

School starts tomorrow, another summer officially over. Although I'm looking forward to quieter days, a slower pace, I'm a little sad. I've gotten used to my girls being here every day, bickering, crying, laughing, and playing. Now I must send them off to be left here, with my editing. Wouldn't you cry?

At the moment I struggle with feeling overwhelmed and excited at one time. I am excited by new ideas, better writing, and getting that darn thing polished enough to send to a publisher. On the oth

My Summer Vacation Part 2

Vacation Day 1

 Aug. 8/09

Left Tweed at 1pm. After stopping at Tim Horton's for my last yummy coffee for five long days, we were on our way. Kids fighting in the back seat, my dad turns up the radio. Kennedy asked questions for the entire 90 min drive. Unlike other children, 'I don't know' does not stop the questions. She continues.

Arriving at Sherwood Park, my kids were so excited they barely remembered to take off their seatbelts before bursting out of the truck. Sherwood Park is a beautifu

My Summer Vacation Part 1

Just twenty four hours until I officially begin my summer vacation. What are we doing? Where are we going?
Camping. Yes, camping at a little place called Sherwood Park. Nice name isn't it? We'll see what becomes of our quaint little trailer park once the Miller-Johnston/Smith/Prevost family has left. It might not be pretty.

I know, camping isn't in a trailer, that's not really roughing it. Listen, I camped when I was a kid. I camped a lot. We had nothing remotely civilized on those trips. It was

Changes

Okay, I tried to post a new blog yesterday, and this thing just messed up and posted some crazy shit. So I deleted it. It wasn't my mistake. How could I have made a mistake? Really.

I love my new picture. Just a big old floating head. It's great don't you think? Courtney took some pics of me and I think she did a wonderful job.

Via Rail decided it would be fun to throw a wrench into my summer vacation plans. Bastards. Just when I scrapped them and moved on, they reach a resolution. Nice for them.

Ramblings..

Kurt survived the weekend. It's a good thing I'm such an easy going kind of girl, or he would be pushing the daisies right now. It's also a good thing we don't have daisies, giving nowhere to put him.

Happiness Hills is edited and I am going over it one last time (I hope) and trying to find a publisher. I think this has to be the hardest part of the entire process. Editing, cutting my baby to pieces, and then finding someone else who agrees my offspring is beautiful. The writing part, definitely

Happily ever after...

So, Kurt returned from his fishing trip. Yes, he should have been well rested and happy to be home with his family. He should have been glad to have gotten away from everything for a week with his buddies, fishing, drinking, and doing whatever else it is that guys do alone in the woods. Those stories can stay their secret, I don't want to know.

Did he come home like this? NO, he didn't. He grumbled and grouched and just made an all around ass of himself. Apparently watching the kids, daycare, cl

Getting Away With It: The Legend Of Jackson Murphy

I am finished. Done. It's all over, well sort of. Jack has ended and now Rowan gets to begin. Maybe even Arthur, he's been waiting a long time to get on with his story.

GAWI is by far my most favorite piece of writing so far. Aside from the Courtney Logan Kennedy books which are really my children. Jack Murphy was the most interesting character I've had the privilege of creating. I loved writing from the male perspective and I really enjoyed being an asshole. I'm wondering if he isn't the male m
