Self Promotion?
So, this was my last post on my about to be deleted site. I thought I'd repost here because I think marketing and self promotion are important for any author, and should begin before you get that contract.
We Canadians are a humble bunch, or so I've heard. The idea of promoting ourselves, tooting our own horn and such, is just cringeworthy. That's probably why sometimes I feel like an immigrant. I don't cringe at that, I love it. "Talk about myself? Well since you asked..."

Hello there...
Just figuring things out here. I hope to have a proper, sensible and interesting layout very soon. But for now, um...this is all I've got. More to come.

In case you think I've gotten lazy....
I haven't gotten lazy. I would love to leave a new blog post on my site. Here's the problem. I can't get into the damn site. How's that for efficient and easy to use, you weebly liars.
Sigh. Time to look for a new site, a paid site that has motivation to make sure it works. I'll update when I find one.
By the way...I hate building websites. Hate, hate, hate it.

So I thought I'd explore this world that authors, by nature generally a private, lonesome bunch, are forced into when trying to publish. A friend, and fellow Canadian, Susan Curnow, got me thinking when she posted a discussion on her page here:

Rewriting and Editing; Yes, you must.
Editing is no longer the hell that I once thought it was. Know why? Because now I understand what I'm doing and finally I see the bigger picture, which is a polished and beautiful story.
Many writers feel that editing sucks out part of their soul and indeed, after 300+ pages of rewriting, moving, correcting, and deleting you do feel sucked of all energy and thought. It is exhausting but it is also exhilerating.
I've been rewriting a manuscript (I say rewriting, but it's not as bad as it...

Writer
Recently I've been working on a different kind of writing, as in not horror. Yikes, you say. What the heck? You're a horror writer aren't you? What about my gory tales of murder and mayhem? What about the vampires and demons? They're still there and you may meet some of them sooner than you think. But I had to do something different, I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone, see what my limitations were and possibly find a new interest or another way to write what I do now. What have I...

The One That Didn't Make it.
So you've seen my posts about the FREE eBook, Menage-a-20? Good, download it. Enjoy. You won't regret it. I promise.
This morning I've been very productive, I'm quite pleased with myself. Why? Well, there's a ridiculous amount of snow outside, and its a snowday for the kids. So I haven't had to do much.
I thought I'd share the story that didn't make it into M-20. I enjoyed writing it so much, I thought it should see the light of day somewhere. So here it is. WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGE - Is...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....
December 1st and it is snowing. How perfect is that? I'm happy as long as I don't have to shovel it. Shoveling sucks.
This weekend is the Tweed Santa Claus Parade. Don't you fret, I will take pictures. Lots of pictures. I'll put them in Hometown Proud.
This weekend is also put up the trees weekend. Well, there's already one in the basement, as I've mentioned. So we'll just have to decorate it. Right now it only has lights. I'll take pictures of that too, of course. So I'll be busy, no time to ...

Winter is here.
So, now its cold. Yep. Cold and frosty and the woolies are out, the socks are on and there's a heater in my garage so I don't turn into a popsicle while I'm hiding out there to write.
But I'm excited about winter. Why? Good question, I don't enjoy shovelling snow. I hate wet feet, hair, and legs. I'm not crazy about frozen boogers. Why does my nose only run in the cold? Really, I hate it.
I hate 'going' before I leave and then having to go five minutes later because for some reason my bladder...

Pssst...Christmas is coming!!
Well another Halloween come and gone, and yes, we have tons of chocolate, chips, and various other treats that I could really do without. I'm going to have to eat them all just so the temptation is gone. What? That's not a solution? It sounded good to me.
The kids were feeling much better, Kennedy is back to her regular schedule, only waking a couple of times each night but going back to sleep soon after. I can handle that. We walked for four long hours, hitting nearly every house with...
