Jill Eileen Smith is the bestselling, award-winning author of the Wives of King David series, the Wives of the Patriarchs, Daughters of the Promised Land, Heart of a King, Star of Persia, Miriam's Song, The Prince and the Prodigal, Daughter of Eden, and The Ark and the Dove. Her research has taken her from the Bible to Israel, and she particularly enjoys learning how women lived in Bible times.

When she isn’t writing, she loves to spend time with her family and friends, read stories that take her away, ride her bike to the park, snag date nights with her hubby, try out new restaurants, or play with her lovable cats Kody and Kaelee. Jill lives with her family in southeast Michigan.

Topics Mentioning This Author

“the more you read God’s Word, the more you’ll know it, and the more you know it, the more you’ll love it—and the more it will define and empower your prayers.”
Jodie Berndt, Praying the Scriptures for Your Adult Children: Trusting God with the Ones You Love

“The farther I run away from the place where God dwells, the less I am able to hear the voice that calls me the Beloved, and the less I hear that voice, the more entangled I become in the manipulations and power games of the world.”
Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming

“I can only be healed from above, from where God reaches down. What is impossible for me is possible for God. “With God, everything is possible.”
Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming

“I am beginning to see that much of praying is grieving. This grief is so deep not just because the human sin is so great, but also—and more so—because the divine love is so boundless. To become like the Father whose only authority is compassion, I have to shed countless tears and so prepare my heart to receive anyone, whatever their journey has been, and forgive them from that heart.”
Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Return of the Prodigal Son: A Story of Homecoming

“Jesus was different. He possessed an awesome otherness. He was the supreme mysterious stranger. He made people uncomfortable”
