Beautiful Jesus

Beautiful Jesus [image error]

Beautiful Jesus

I love you Lord

In quiet moments

I praise you Lord

(I want to spend) All of my days (are spent)

Singing your praise

I love you

(Beautiful) Jesus

The light of your face

Guides my feet

Lights up my path

In your glory and grace

Beautiful

Beautiful Jesus

My all in all

Beautiful Jesus

In quiet moments

Lord, I hear you call

My heart cries out, Jesus

My pain and my sorrow

My soul

To you, Lord, I bring

My beautiful, beautiful Jesus

My saviour and king

My beautiful Jesus

Come quickly, Lord, bring

Your glorious kingdom

(My beautiful king) My beautiful, beautiful Lord

Angels sing to me

(Sweet songs in the night)

Of beautiful Jesus

My beautiful Lord

I want to be with you

I need to be near you

My all in all

Beautiful Jesus

Eyes on the Sky

Happy 2018!

Hope you’re all having a wonderful year so far and many good wishes for the rest of 2018.

I haven’t posted much because my laptop is somewhat broken, yet again. All things do work together for good, so I’ve been focusing on my photography and tonight, oddly enough, songwriting.

I’m actually quite pleased with how this little experiment turned out and thought I’d share it here as my inspiration for composing all of two songs today came from scrolling through my Writing 201 posts and reading poems I wrote back in 2015.  Here’s the song I literally just finished  jamming. Yeah!

The Journey, The Destination

Hello!

It’s been a year since my last post. How time flies. My laptop went down about a year ago and I switched to a smartphone. I suddenly had no great need for a replacement laptop, but, alas, this blog doesn’t play nice with smartphone posts, so it was just silence on my end.

I’m back. I caved in and splurged on a replacement, mainly because I want to finish the revisions on my novel, “Nothing,” and get the creative juices flowing again. I’m working on the novel, so keep an eye out for updates.

I’ve done some amount of photography while I’ve been away, and even posted my first photography course online. I’m planning to do a few more courses, so keep an eye out for those too! The featured photo is one I took during the downtime and I’ll be sharing others as I go along.

What have you been up to?

Blessings!

Triumph & Contrast

triumph and contrast march 2016 DSCN2217.jpg

God only knows what a day it’s been, but I have a policy of finding a single good thing from each day to celebrate as my “little victory” aka a triumph. No day lacks one.

We’ve  been without running water for days, with no end to this plight in sight. After spending literally the whole day seeking water, carrying jugs and jugs of water and generally obsessing about water, my triumph for today is quite simply that  I was able to take a photo at all. I’m dead tired, but I don’t want to miss the last day of Photo 101. I dropped some very thirsty (read: wilted) flowers into my hard won water, took a photo, twiddled the settings a bit, et voila, “Triumph & Contrast!” Hallelujah!

(I’ll post a different photo when I’ve had some rest, D.V.).

Seeing Double

For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

The Edge, Where Cross Meets Sky

edge and alignment march 2016 107.jpgLowe River United Church, Trelawny, Jamaica

This is the tower that flanks the entrance of the Lowe River United Church. The crosses atop the church immediately caught my eye as we made the sharp turn leading up to the church grounds and I knew I was going to have to photograph them, even if it meant crashing a wedding and contorting myself on a dangerously slippery slope.

Mission accomplished, and well worth the effort, if I do say so myself.

The church sits atop what seems to be a very high hill, but which I suspect to be a mountain peak, in the dizzying heights of the Cockpit Country. The crosses don’t just appear to touch the sky. The clouds do indeed cover the top of the building during the afternoon rains.

The churchyard contains several graves with very elaborate gravestones, clearly the work of at least one very gifted artisan. There was also one grave with a rusted metal cross on it that just totally creeped me out, so I took no pictures of those.

I found no information on the history of the church or its architecture. I’m guessing from the concrete slab design that the building itself isn’t particularly old, but the crumbling gravestones do make me wonder. The crosses also piqued my curiosity. The most I could come up with is that they seem to be of Celtic design, but again, don’t seem very old. How odd.

Vanilla & The Looking Glass

vanilla eyes P1080314 P1080311

Vanilla worked surprisingly hard yesterday posing up a storm for my “Glass, Squared” photos for Photo 101. I hadn’t realized that the cats, including the kittens, seem to understand the concept of the camera and actually seem to desire to model and have their pictures taken.

Unfortunately for Vanilla, the juried selection panel vetoed her photos as “too much cat” and picked a more complex photo for publication. As a consolation prize, here are some of her top photos for the day. Isn’t she gorgeous?
