HUNGER

I’m currently on a diet/lifestyle change in an attempt to improve my health, so it comes as no surprise that hunger is a subject on my mind these days. Here’s a thought on hunger from my upcoming novel, “NOTHING.”

Are you currently making lifestyle changes? I’d love to hear your tips.

Be blessed.

A COLD CARESS

I’m still working on my soon-to-be-released novel, “Nothing.”

Here’s a gorgeous quote on love that just speaks to my heart tonight. I would be remiss not to share it with you.

If you like it, please share it with someone else. Let’s spread love. ❤

Quotes Pulled From “NOTHING”

Hello lovelies!

I’m finalizing my novel, “Nothing,” and will be sharing a few quotes I’ve pulled from the book. It’s such a delight to leave a manuscript for a while to work on other projects and come back to it with fresh eyes. I get to experience the joy of immersing myself in a good story and come as close as possible to the actual reader experience. While doing this, I pull quotes from the book that strike a chord with me. These sometimes take on a life of their own, which is just amazing. Here are my picks so far.

Please share. Thank you. Be blessed.

Out of This World

In response to The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge, “Out of this World.”

Three guesses what my “Out of this World” submission is?

I really like this week’s photo challenge, which is to photograph a landscape/object/scene that has an otherworldy sci fi vibe to it. Now, that’s challenging. I’m guessing the submissions will feature loads of salt flats and mud flats, because that’s about all I recall seeing on Your Shot whenever they issue these types of challenges. Ergo, I decided to focus on more elemental aspects with a literal tie-in to out of this world events.

My photo shows the reflection of the sun and sky in a bucket of water at the high point of the solar eclipse that took place on August 21, 2017. The blinding fire of the sun’s flares is superimposed on mesmerizing flames from a bonfire. I like the result. I’m really loving the contrast between the light and the dark. So metaphorical. The eclipse represents out of this world events to me as I view it in light of all the other celestial events of the past few years that seem to be syncing up with the prophecies in Matthew 24. We live in interesting times.

Oh, I didn’t actually see the eclipse as I had no glasses, so this was as close as I got. Still awesome.

It’s Wednesday, so today’s book launch is the paperback for Dark Matter (Basic Nuclear Physics – How to Trigger the Apocalypse While Doing Nothing Special)”. Please check it out. It’s actually hard sci, despite the textbooky-sounding subtitle, and definitely out of this world. Thank you.

Be blessed.

Vanity

Psalm 127:2

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Ecclesiastes 4:6

Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit.

The Ultimate Guide to Getting Rich

[image error]Black swan, St. James’s Park, London

Inspiration hides in the most unlikely places and strikes at the most unexpected times.  You have to be wise enough to recognize when it strikes and ready to move the instant you get that inspiration.

This week I found myself watching “conspiracy theory” videos on Youtube. I’m not sure why they’re called conspiracy theories though, as most of them seem to be fringe thoughts and scriptural (mis)interpretations. What they all were is somewhat fascinating. I enjoyed seeing how more unconventional minds work. What struck me most were the ones that inadvertently showed the raw, naked wretchedness of people caught up in the quest for fame, fortune and adulation. Poignant stuff.

So, there’s the inspiration for this post. My main concern isn’t the quest for riches, but rather the level of wretchedness, depravity and pain that comes from seeking it the wrong way. There’s no need to sell your soul for a temporary taste of the good life and the bitter aftertaste that comes with it. There’s a surprisingly easy way to accomplish great gain with no pain.

Solomon, reputedly the wisest man who ever lived, spelled it out clearly and succintly several centuries ago.

Proverbs 10:22

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Simple.

Be blessed.

WPC: A Face in the Crowd

In response to the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge, “A Face in the Crowd”

[image error]Sugar cane workers get a ride home through the cane fields

This is one of my favourite shots and it perfectly fits today’s challenge as there is only one face visible in the crowd. These men seem simple at a glance, but are amazing super-humans that the world simply hasn’t discovered yet. They cut acres of sugarcane BY HAND using just machetes and can take down acres in minutes. Amazing people doing amazing things to make the world a sweeter place.

It’s Wednesday and therefore time for another surprise book launch! The 2018 edition of Opoponax Dreams is currently being rolled out. You can get the link to your favourite retailer here. Please bookmark it and check back as new distribution channels are being added. Thanks for your support.

Be blessed.

On Gifts & The Turmoil Within

Good morning!

My best wishes at the start of another week. Last night in church I spoke on the matter of asking God for guidance in the use of existing gifts and requesting new gifts for the new year, so I’m encouraging you, dear reader, to step out boldly in your old and new gifts and talents. Let’s make this world a better place.

As I’ve been pressing toward the mark with old gifts and nurturing new ones, I’ve found myself energized from within, with spiritual, mental and physical energy. I’m harnessing this energy and pouring it into my projects, so expect an outpouring of creativity in the months to come, Deo volente.

I spent the weekend revamping a classic favorite, “The Turmoil Within,” and have decided to relaunch it as the first volume of a series, “The Poems and Lyrics.” The brand new paperback edition is available on Amazon as of this morning, while the classic eBook edition has been available on Kindle for many years.  Poetry lovers, please do check it out.

Be blessed.

69

The following is a repost of the booklaunch.io page, as it has some interesting background information that should really be on this blog.

book cover

Rêves Opoponax 69
Rêves Opoponax (Dreams Opoponax) is a short story composed of sixty nine micro stories of exactly sixty nine words each. Following from the novel Opoponax Dreams, Rêves Opoponax brings back three characters and follows them on their journey of discovery of their new mission, to a backdrop of birdsong. Follow them as they cross the boundaries of life, time and space and discover a new world, through new eyes.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Rêves Opoponax 69 – Experience the Fantasy 69 times

Rêves Opoponax 69 represents a new wave in fiction. The work, which is composed of sixty-nine microfiction stories of sixty-nine words each working together in a modular fashion to weave a long-form short story, is the first of its kind, to the best of our knowledge. It is a paranormal fantasy, making heavy use of religious symbolism and biblical concepts. The book was written with the aid of a calculator and is so mathematically precise that even the title/rights page has a word count of sixty-nine, as does the introduction. The original title, Dreams Opoponax, contained six and nine characters, as does the working title. Look carefully and you will see the sixth character. This is meant to represent the concept of “seeing, they see not.”

The stories themselves are based on three characters from the original fantasy novel, Opoponax Dreams, who have been brought back from death and destruction to fulfill a mission that will require them to learn how to transcend time, space and the limitations of man. We experience this process of discovery with them, to a backdrop of birdsong.
