Sheepshead Interview

I meant to post this a while back.  One night in Madison I sat in a theater seat beside Mindi Vanderhoof and she interviewed me.  That interview wound up in the Fall 2009 issue of Sheepshead Review.  This being a Green Bay-based publication, the final question was about Brent Brett Favre.

Montaigne and Erectile Dysfunction

Fun interview I did recently with Cathy Wurzer of Twin Cities Public Television.

Yes, I really have been reading Montaigne lately, but I should have mentioned Dr. Suess, too…

Fun Radio News

The Long Beds have just been confirmed as a guest on Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know? radio show Saturday, March 20.  We are told we'll be playing two songs and that the two Michaels may chat a tad.  The show will be broadcast live from the Eau Claire Regional Arts CenterTicket info here.

And just a reminder, the new album is still streaming over at Volume One.

The Writer Edits and Insults Himself on the Fly

Just going through a very rough draft I began several months ago.  I typed it on one of my old manual typewriters.  Coming across the self-directed parenthetical just now made me chuckle:

I remember with great clarity (as opposed to

average clarity, doofus?)

I can be difficult to work with.

A Lawyer in Training Pants

Lately a certain nearly-three-year-old of my acquaintance has begun responding to interdiction by sticking her tongue out.  There has been much use of the third stair and a timer.  But tonight, a new tack: She stopped mid-stick, and just held her mouth open.  "I hope you're not sticking your tongue out," said Dad.  "I'm not!" she said, brightly.  "I'm saying aahh so you can see my tongue, and that's a good thing."

Fate willing, when she is 18 I will be 60.  This is not a fair fight.

Back Home Again

Left home for a week, came back, the melt is on.  Time to tap them maples.

Also need to get with it on the firewood.  Get it split and stacked…for next winter.  That's the way it works around here.  It looks like 40s for the next week.  I hope so, because this year's firewood is down to about two cold weeks' worth.

But melt.  Man, it's tough to describe how much we react to it around here.  The first loosening of the earth, the sound of water trickling, just the scent of it all.  The chickens o...

Photos for Musical Gearheads

While we were finishing up the Tiny Pilot album, Chris (our guitarist) holed up in his basement to record some additional guitar sounds.  Note the glamorous setting in critical proximity to laundry (a recurring motif of my albums).
