Car Dealers

Car dealers of the world.

The following might, at some point--perhaps in the early 20s-- been considered "features" in cars.

-Clock
-Windows
-Steering Wheel
-Seatbelt
-Rear-view Mirror
-Side Mirrors
-Glove Compartment

They are no longer features. Please stop listing them as such you weird, weird people. * ** ***

Love, Jackson

*Also, please stop saying "What can I do to earn your business?" Because...you can tell me the price. And then you can make it lower. You can stop trying to give me coffee. I appre...

Come to chat tonight. No, really.

First and foremost, I am super excited that AS YOU WISH is coming out in Turkish! It's being published by Artemis, which is the same Turkish publisher who does Richelle Mead and Melissa Marr's books. So. That is exciting to me.

Also, tonight is a live show! And tonight is a very special blog show. You see, I cannot seem to give away the December SISTERS RED prize. I've drawn THREE WINNERS and none of them have contacted me. So tonight I'm done with it. I'm giving the December SISTERS RED prize...

On Muses

The fantastic Carrie Ryan asked about muses today on twitter. And I started to respond, but realized I am completely incapable of summarizing my thoughts on the matter in 140 characters. So I'll talk about it here!

Some authors credit a muse for their creativity-- not a flesh and blood person, but a sort of ethereal or spiritual entity that inspires them.

And to be very very short and sweet about it: I hate the idea of a muse.

And I don't say that to insult those who credit a muse-- but the enti...

Stages of Editing

Stage One: While writing, I make notes on the manuscript. That way I'm not forever going back and editing what I've already written—I'm always moving forward. So if on page 97 I realize that a scene on page 5 needs to change, I just go back to page 5, stick in a note that says "Change to fit page 97" and move on.

Stage Two: Go back and fix all those notes made while writing.

Stage Three: Print the beast out. Inhale the scent of toner so long that I start to get dizzy.

Stage Four: Pretend like th...

Friday Five

1) I am working on a questionnaire for SISTERS RED. I am so slow at these things. Author FAIL.

2) I'm also currently rereading PURITY to polish it up before sending it out into the world! I'm so excited about this book. I wrote most of it around this time last year, but then between SWEETLY and SISTERS RED edits wasn't able to come back to it till the last few weeks. I'm really happy with it and excited about it, since it's my first contemporary YA.

3) Remember all those fruit rollups the Debs ...

Olympics!

I've been really, really into the Olympics this year. I mean, I'm usually pretty into them, but for some reason I've been totally taken with Vancouver. I love their opening ceremonies, I freaked out through the cauldron mishap, and I have been watching sports I totally don't understand at all (which is, aside from figure skating...all of them).

I think the reason I like the Olympics so much is I'm really into the idea that being a professional athlete isn't limited to football/basketball/golf....
