UK readers!
Today, in addition to doing my regular liveshow at 8pm EST, I'm doing a special liveshow just for UK/European readers! My usual liveshows are super late for you guys, and I wanted to do something to say thanks for the warm welcome SISTERS RED has gotten over there.
The UK show will be at 6pm GMT. It'll just be a freeform chat, I'll answer your questions, we'll talk about the book and the series and all sorts of good stuff. Please come! There's no need to register, sign up, or anything, just go...

AS YOU WISH's many incarnations
My first book, AS YOU WISH, came out August 25th last year (yeah, that's right-- I have a feeling I'll remember release dates like baby's birthdays...). And today, a little over a year later, it's officially out in paperback!
Behold, a photo gallery of AS YOU WISH's many incarnations:
The arc. No, that isn't Demi Lovato on the cover. But it sure looks like her. *sings Camp Rock songs*
The arc cover got the thumbs down by a bookstore, so we changed it. Here's the final hardback cover. No, that is...

Mysteries
A while back, I got a big box in the mail. Inside, to my delight, were a bunch of copies of the UK version of SISTERS RED (it's SHINY!). There were a bunch of hardcovers, and some fairly big paperbacks too (much taller than most US paperbacks). I thought: You clever UKers. Printing the paperbacks early! Smart, smart, smart. And then I went on my merry way.
And then...a few days ago, I got this in the mail, with a letter tell me it's a cover flat for the paperback edition of the book.

Oh facebook...
I kind of love and hate facebook.
Love:
-I stay in touch with friends I KNOW I would have lost touch with otherwise.
-It's fun to spy on people's wedding photos (who doesn't like seeing pretty wedding photos?)
-It's an easy way to find someone without scouring the internet for basic email address info.
-My fan page is a great way to get in touch with readers and share new information with them.
Hate:
-People I meet for five minutes send me friend requests.
-Groups that have horribly misspelled names....

Upcoming Stuff
So, if you haven't had a chance to check out my events page, please do-- because for the rest of August and September I am everywhere. Just everywhere.
Which, speaking of: At the Decatur Book Festival, I'm doing a two hour workshop called Getting Taken Seriously While You're Still Taking Chemistry, which is all about writing/publishing when you're younger. It's only open to ages 13-20, and I'm super excited. I'm doing a shorter (30 min), all ages version of the workshop at the Suwanee...

Too early (again)
Today new windows are being installed on one side of my condo, which means I had to wake up painfully early to let the construction workers in. Not that it mattered-- the new windows include windows in my bedroom, which means last night I had to take down all my curtains, which means the sun was blasting into my window at about six this morning. I hope no one putting these windows in will judge me for sitting around in my pajamas. Cause that's what I've got big plans to do for the next hour o...

Research
Obviously, writing a damn historical novel involves a lot of research.
Actually, that's putting it mildly. I had no idea it would involve THIS much research. I don't know how people who write historicals regularly do it, to be honest. I've just finished a draft and already had to hit up both Sarah MacLean and Saundra Mitchell with weird, tiny questions. For example: When filling out a dance card, who has the pencil-- the man, the woman, or the host of the dance? Stuff like that simply isn't ve...

It is way too early.
It's 6:39AM. I'm not really sure when I saw 6:39AM last, but it was no time recently. That bizarro world thing happened where at 5:45AM, I was just AWAKE, with no explanation as to why. So here I am, eating cereal and blogging while the sun comes up.
I hit 110k on the DAMN HISTORICAL NOVEL, but was having a lot of trouble writing the end. That's nothing new-- endings are always something I struggle with. SO, instead of forcing the last ten thousand words or so, I've decided to go back and do a...

Damn Historical Novel
I'm in that stage of writing where I am an obsessive, annoying, talk-about-nothing-but-the-book type of author. I'm pretty sure that by the time I'm done with the first draft of this, my friends will be avoiding me and my mother will sigh loudly when she sees my name pop up on her cell phone.
BUT...I'm almost 97k into the DAMN HISTORICAL NOVEL! It's a lengthy project-- I'm anticipating it'll ring up at about 110k-115k when the first draft is finished. Of course, I've got no idea if all those w...
