Calling all book lovers

To be eligible to be listed in a book lovers’ catalog, The Lost King needs two more reviews with at least a 4-star rating on amazon.com. If you’ve read the book and liked it and would take a moment to post a line or two of review, I’d be most grateful. Go here and post your review. http://www.amazon.com/The-Lost-King-Devorah-Fox/dp/0977824527/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_1
Thanks to King Bewilliam’s knights and ladies who have already posted a review putting us just two reviews shy of our goal.

Aruba Calls to Me

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aruba Tourism Authority for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love the beach so just about any place that combines water and sand gets my attention. Not every one of them turns out to be worth a visit but  Aruba is. Located in the Caribbean, Aruba boasts a variety of geographical features and therefore opportunities for a wide range of activities. there's so much to do. That's why it's so popular as a family vacation spot and why I find it attractive.

Of course there’s soft sandy beaches beside calm blue waters and I can take a leisurely stroll, go for a horseback ride or simply lounge. If I get a little more ambitious, Aruba’s waves and winds create perfect conditions for water sports like windsurfing, kite-surfing and sailing, or I could rev it up and rent a jet-ski or wave runner. Below the surface there’s coral formations and submerged wrecks just waiting to be discovered while snorkeling.

Nearby, however, Arikok National Park set on the wild windward coast features a rugged interior and change of pace. I can tour it from an air-conditioned coach or go on a Jeep safari, or hike or bike the 20 miles of trails. This side of Aruba is a bit more secluded because the rough surf means swimming isn’t recommended. That same wave action, however, has carved beautiful coves and inlets out of the limestone.

Much as I love my Gulf Coast home I enjoy visiting other seaside locations. Because of the recreational options offered by its unique and varied terrain, Aruba travel calls to me for my next vacation.

Check it out at www.aruba.com and see if Aruba calls to you too. What looks attractive to you?

The next book

If you’re curious about how The King’s Ransom came about, I reveal some of my anxieties and deliberations in this story just published by Writer.ly.
And yes, I’m already thinking about Book Three in the series. I’ll start it in November as my National Novel Writing Month 2013 project.

Ours Goes to Eleven

Check out this interview on Fiona Skye’s blog.
Fiona challenged me with come up with a five-word synopsis of my work and believe me, that wasn’t easy. But writers, it’s a wonderful exercise so give it a try.

We also played the casting game with my characters and that’s always fun. See if I made the choices you would have made.

What makes it a fantasy?

Yesterday around Mark Barry’s “cauldron” I was introduced as a fantasist. The interview is still posted so you can check it out if you missed it. It should give you a chuckle or two.
Today you can read my musings on the fantasy genre on Writer.ly. You might find my comments surprising.

The savvy author is advised to pick a genre before writing a word since each genre has its own paradigms and its readers their own expectations. Guess I’m not that smart. I just wrote what the Muse told me to write and found I had become a fantasist. I’m having fun with it though and I hope you are too.

Speaking of cauldrons, fantasies and fun there’s plan a-brewing for an October event. Stay tuned.

Mixing it up at The Wizard’s Cauldron

Mark Barry has taken the author interview to a whole new level. Check out the creativity of The Wizard’s Cauldron, and not just because I’m the latest subject. Aren’t those illustrations a kick? How about that introduction? What do you think, did he capture the essence of Texas? And did you learn anything surprising about me?
