Because People Are Talking M/M Paranormal-Karina Cooper

The note I received from the fabulous Avon publicist organizing this tour said, “Talk about why m/m paranormal.”
“Oh, no,” I thought. This is going to be a very short post.
Then I had some coffee, slept on it—the idea, not the coffee!—had more coffee, and decided I’d take it point by point. There are two very different things in here, after all.Why Paranormal?I heart paranormal stories. As far back as I can remember, I was always hunting for stories of fantastical things—magic and crazy science; monsters among us. One of my favorite series I remember was a precursor to the urban fantasy crazy, about a normal girl who found herself embroiled in modern fae doings. I was fascinated!
Writing it seemed like a natural step. I love the concept of a setting that isn’t too far removed from what “real life” could be, and then adding elements to it—huge elements or small bits—to make it paranormal. I feel like life would be way more interesting if a little bit of strange, stranger than normal, was actually the norm.
The Dark Mission series took that love, made a future that isn’t all that far from the truth, and tossed in witches. The politics, the disasters, the class warfare, all of that isn’t all that much of a stretch—a frightening concept in its own right! Why Male/Male Romance? This one’s the easy one.
I wrote a male/male romance because the characters are gay. Simple, no?
While it’s true that all of my proceeds from Wicked Lies are going to the It Gets Better Project, I didn’t start out with that concept and then search for the best character to “make gay”. Jonas Stone has always kept his cards close to the vest, and his sexuality has never been up for discussion, but he was the perfect candidate for Avon’s first male/male romance.
And his partner? Danny Granger. Young, optimistic, patient only as much as his youth allows and definitelya go-getter. He, too, is simply gay. It’s not all he is—like Jonas, he has other characteristics and traits and talents—but it’s part of who he is. That meant I gave them no more or less thought than I gave every other character I write about. Their hopes and dreams, their hang-ups, what they want, what they need, how they cope... I gave them everything I give the hetero couples I write about.
Since Avon was so brilliantly kind enough to let me do it, making it their first m/m book, I considered what kind of ground-breaking I was doing with them and dedicated it to all the LGBTQ people in my life—those I know, those I don’t and will, and those who need to know that someone out there supports them.
LBTQ people are people, period. I wanted my gay characters to have a chance at love, too!

About the Author:
Born from the genetic mash-up of lesser royalty, storytellers, wanderers and dreamers, KARINA COOPER was destined to be a creative genius. As a child, she moved all over the country like some kind of waifish blonde gypsy and thrived in the new cultures her family settled in. When she (finally) grew up, she skipped the whole genius part and fell in love with writing because, really, who doesn’t love making things up for a living?
One part romance fanatic, one part total dork, and all imagination, she writes dark and sexy paranormal romance and urban fantasy. When she isn’t writing, Karina is an airship captain’s wife and Steampunk fashionista. She lives in the beautiful and rainy Pacific Northwest with a husband, four cats, two rabbits, the fantasy of a dog, and a passel of adopted gamer geeks.

Hollywood to writing novels- the evolution of my writing with John Lansing- and a Kindle Giveaway

There may not be vampires or paranormal activity in, “The Devil’s Necktie,” but I think there’s enough sex, drugs and murder to keep things interesting.

I didn’t grow up dreaming about being a writer. It wasn’t even on my short list. But now in hindsight I do think writing books was a natural evolution from my time spent working in Hollywood.

My acting career helped inform the characters I wrote for, and about, and created, in my television work. The craft of acting helped me understand the emotional roadmap needed to flesh out complex characters, characters that will hopefully be compelling enough to maintain a reader’s interest.

My television work taught me discipline, writing on a schedule, collaboration, and it really hammered home the type of characters I enjoyed and wanted to invest my time with, characters that were interesting enough for me to spend a year of my life with, and again, hopefully keep an audience reading. Only you can tell me if I’ve succeeded at that and I look forward to hearing from you.

The most difficult part of my transition from television to novels was the writing itself. I had a wonderful partner, Bruce Cervi, who I co-wrote all of my television and film projects with, but now I was on my own. Just me, my computer, and my twenty-four pound poodle named Lucky.

The joy of writing my first novel was not having to adhere to a formula created by a television Pilot episode. I had total freedom to explore the psychology and behavior of not only my primary characters, but also my secondary tier. And I didn’t have to worry about satisfying a star’s ego or writing to commercial breaks.

I’ve always been drawn to flawed characters that were interested in reinventing themselves, who wanted a new life. Maybe because I’ve had such a varied career myself. I grew up in middle class suburbia. People worked for the same corporation or company, had the same vocation for their entire lives. Well that doesn’t fly anymore. We can all look forward to experiencing three or four different careers in our lifetime.

I wanted to write about a detective who was on the verge of change, who was recovering from a nasty divorce, retiring from the NYPD, leaving Staten Island, and starting over. The old Yiddish proverb pretty much nails it. “Men make plans, God laughs.” My protagonist, Jack Bertolino, chose to do all of those things; it just didn’t quite work out the way he planned. Twenty-five years of taking down drug dealers, money launderers and killers came back to bite him in the ass, and shook up his newfound sense of bliss in Marina del Rey, California. That was enough of a hook for me to write “The Devil’s Necktie.”

Author Verdell Walker’s To Be Read Pile

Verdell Walker’s To Be Read Pile (in no particular order!)
1.     The Dark Monk (The Hangman’s Daughter series), Oliver Potzsch. I recently read “The Hangman’s Daughter” which is the first book in this series about a 17thcentury Bavarian hangman and his headstrong daughter. I love a good mystery, and this one had a really intriguing setting. The characters are well developed and I especially liked Magdalena, the hangman’s daughter of the title, who was so strong and independent-minded. I’m a sucker for gusty gals, being one myself.
2.     Bring up the Bodies, Hilary Mantel.Mantel’s prior book, “Wolf Hall”, was pure genius in my opinion. There aren’t many authors who can take something as well trodden as the Tudor era and do something fresh and exciting with it. Mantel’s painstaking research is obvious here and is only enhanced by the fact that she is a master of character development. I found that I couldn’t wait to see what the wily Thomas Cromwell was going to do next…even though I obviously already knew!
3.     Crucible of Gold (Temeraire series), Naomi Novik. Normally, I’m not into fantasy or dragons but Novik is a real exception. The premise of the series is that it retells the Napoleonic War with a notable twist: Britain and France both have aerial corps comprised of dragons with human captains. I’ve read all the books in the Temeraire series. Her last two lacked the magic of the first 3, but what she achieved at the beginning of the series is enough to make me stick around.
4.     The Last Runaway, Tracy Chevalier. I love historical fiction and Chevalier is one of the best at it, in my opinion. She usually writes on European history, but this is her first foray into the American past. It’s about a Quaker woman who becomes part of the Underground Railroad. I’ve been reading up on slavery and the antebellum period for a writing project on my own, and I definitely want to check out this book.
5.     Crocodile on the Sandbank, Elizabeth Peters. I’m a sucker for anything about ancient Egypt. I know more about it than someone who isn’t a trained Egyptologist has a right to know. And of course it has a gutsy gal in it.
6.     Lover at Last, JR Ward.People may laugh, but JR Ward is one of my biggest influences as a writer. If you want to know how to create compelling, multidimensional characters with a distinctive arc, look no further than her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I’ve read every single one, and I cannot wait for this one to come out!
The Andalucian Friend, Alexander Soderberg. Swedish crime thriller. Enough said J

Interview and Giveaway with James and Broderick from Midnight Conquest and Midnight Captive

Fang-Tastic Books –Interview with James & Broderick JamesEscorted by the housemaid Moira, I shuffle into the parlor. James Knightly is leaning his considerable figure against the tall window frame across the room. The breadth of his shoulders is emphasized by his strong arms crossed over his chest. This six-foot-two historical hunk is the hero in Midnight Captive, my second installment of the Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles. He stands almost as tall as his father-in-law, Broderick “Rick” MacDougal—the vampire hero of Book 1, Midnight Conquest.
Triceps bulging and jaw twitching, James seems lost in thought as he overlooks the North Sea. Tiptoeing forward, I peer past his shoulders to where his shipping vessel Knightly’s Refuge is moored off shore. The deck is buzzing with activity as his crew is scrubbing decks and performing necessary maintenance.
James turns his sea-green eyes toward me and the corner of his mouth curls in a half-smile. He swivels his muscular body to face me and an ebony curl falls rebelliously over his brow. Tossing his head to right the aberrant lock, which refuses to obey, he advances and extends his hand in greeting. “Welcome! I’m pleased to have you in our home.”
My heart patters in my chest when James plants a modest kiss on the back of my hand, and I understand why Cailin—the heroine of my story—is so taken with this young man. “Am I late? I hope I didn’t keep you waiting long.”
“Not at all. I have been rather anxious for this meeting.” He waves to one of two wooden armchairs. “Please, have a seat.”
The cushion on the chair arrests my attention and I study the…interesting embroidery work. Loose threads and awkward figures of people and animals create a scene I can’t quite comprehend.
James chuckles like a summer stream in the sun…warm and soothing to my ears. “One of Cailin’s creations. She curses you for making her so unskilled with the needle.”
I cringe. “I suppose she put these here to bring it to my attention?”
“Aye, m’lady. That she did.” Mischief sparkles in James’s jade eyes and we both sit.
“Tell her I’m sorry.”

“Well, I had to make her that way to serve the story, but tell her I’m sorry anyway.”

He chuckles again and waves his hand dismissively as he leans back and crosses his ankle over his knee. “She’ll relinquish that grudge eventually.”
“You said you were anxious for this meeting?” I’m happy to change the subject and dive into the interview.
He shifts in his chair and his brow creases. Hiding behind his hand, he tugs thoughtfully at his bottom lip before answering. “’Tis a little uncertain about your questions I am.”
James is a pretty private guy, so I’m prepared for this. “Well, considering your personality type, I hadn’t planned on delving too privately. I think you can relax. The main purpose of this interview is for our readers to learn a little about you. Perhaps you can entice them with your charm.”
A sheepish grin overcomes his face and color blooms in his cheeks. GAWD he’s so adorable! “I’m not certain how charming I’ll be, but ask away.”
I flip open my notebook and thumb to the page where I’d jotted questions. “What do you love about the sea? Or more specifically, why did you want to become the captain of a ship?”
An infectious smile splits his face and he drops his hand to his lap. I’m happy he seems obviously at home with this topic. “There’s a sense of freedom in riding the waves of the sea. She’s awe-inspiring and humbling in the way she challenges me with her strength. And she’s not one to be taken for granted, so she keeps me in line.”
“Would I be accurate in saying that’s how you feel about Cailin?”
The smile drops from his face and he stares at me, slack-jawed. After a moment, he recovers and narrows his eyes, but grins. “Aye, Arial. Though to accurately apply that to Cailin, I would amend my comment by saying I love her loyalty and devotion to those she loves. The sea is not so kind.”
“Agreed.”
BroderickThe door bursts open. “Brilliant answer, young buck!” Broderick MacDougal’s commanding presence fills the doorway as Moira peeks around his towering frame, apologetic eyes pleading for leniency. James rolls his eyes heavenward and shakes his head, then dismisses the housemaid with a wave and a wink. Slamming the door behind him, Rick stomps forward, cocking a fiery eyebrow and devilish smile. James and I both make to rise from our chairs, but Broderick holds up his palms. “Nay, do not rise on my account. You may proceed with the interview. Though you are being far too soft on the boy, m’lady.” He bends forward and kisses my knuckles in greeting, though not quite as modestly as James did. The damned rogue has me flushing with passion…as usual. His deep voice drops to a butterfly-inducing and intimate level. “I remember your questions for me were far more…private.”
“Rogue,” James and I both accuse.
Rick’s soft laughter rumbles around the room like thunder. “Allow me to do your dirty work, lass.” He crosses his arms and stands before his son-in-law.
James remains seated but diverts his annoyed gaze toward me. “Thanks a lot!” his eyes seem to say. I shrug.
“Clever lad,” Broderick says. “You’re wearing the amulet so I cannot hear your thoughts.”
“I had hoped you wouldn’t intrude on this meeting.” James raises a raven brow and smirks. “But I suspected you wouldn’t be able to resist an appearance. It does pay to be prepared.”Broderick throws his head back and bellows his amusement.
“He is an Aries, you know,” I contribute. “They do love to be the center of attention.”
“As you well know, lass.” My vampire winks at me. Yes, I gave Broderick my birthday. Well, there isan element of the author in each of their characters…and that’s how I chose to infiltrate Rick’s persona. Write what you know, right?
“Back to the interview.” He tilts his head and searches the ceiling for ideas. “Shall we ask him that amusing question about his undergarments? Boxers or briefs, wasn’t it?”
My turn to blush. Not because the oh-so-common question for characters is embarrassing, but because it reminds me that Broderick wears neither.
“I still don’t.” Rick waggles his eyebrows. “Perhaps you should have written an amulet into this interview for yourself, eh lass?”
Honestly! Can my face get any hotter? I’m pretty speechless at this point and James is now hiding his chuckles behind his fist.
Broderick raises his trademark brow and inclines forward. “Tell me, Arial. Did you plan on asking him some of the same questions you threw at me? You talk of seas and captaining a ship. The topics we covered were much more interesting.” He levels his eyes on James. “The young buck can handle them.”
James rolls his eyes and beckons me with a wave of his hand. “Proceed, Arial. The old man thinks he’s backed me into a corner.”
“Ohhh-kaay.” I clear my throat and shift nervously in my seat. “What is your favorite erogenous zone?”
James frowns and his cheeks bloom with color.
Broderick throws his head back and laughs.
Sitting at the edge of his seat, James thrusts his chest out and swallows. “Along the side of my neck.” He absently brushes his fingertips from under his ear to his shoulder.
“I had wondered why you blushed so whenever Cailin tickled you there.” Broderick chuckles.James scowls at Rick. “Next question, please.”
“You didn’t answer the boxers or briefs question, lad.” Broderick winks at me.

James cocks an eyebrow and crosses his arms. “I’m not sure I understand the references, nor did I when you first mentioned them. What are they?”

I clear my throat. “Um, boxers and briefs are modern-day undergarments men wear.”

“Considering his time period,” Broderick offers. “I’m sure the lad wears neither.”

When James shifts and avoids eye contact with both of us, Rick grins. “Commando.”

When James shifts and avoids eye contact with both of us, Rick grins.

“As I thought. Commando.” He waves a casual hand toward my notebook. “Not sure you need to write that down, but I’m certain our readers would love to know that bit about James.”
James stands and snatches my hand, pulling me to my feet. “Thank you so very much for this…interestingexperience.”

He escorts me to the door, which he promptly opens. “Now if both of you will excuse me, I have a voyage for which I must prepare.”
Broderick stomps toward the door with mischief sparkling in his emerald eyes. “Give Cailin my love,” he says, taking me in hand. “Mistress Arial and I will let ourselves out.”
James grumbles as we leave the parlor.
I will try to coax James into answering some questions, but as you can see, he’s a little shy.
However, I’m sure Rick would be more than happy to dally with all of you. Everyone who comments will be entered into a drawing for Midnight Captive, Book 2

Hear my Vampires By Rachel Carrington

I love paranormal television and movies. Can't get enough of them.

There's just something about seeing the actors recreate characters from a writer's mind. And I used to imagine what it would be like to have my own books up there on the big screen or even the small one. I just wanted to hear how my heroes would sound, how the heroines' sarcasm would play out. Well, my books haven't been chosen for television or movies, but they have been brought to life by the wonderful talents of narrators.

Audio books, I've found, can have just as great an impact, especially when you're wearing headphones and hear a luxurious vampire's voice so close to your ear. It's absolutely amazing. And the heroines? I can't imagine them sounding any better if I'd voiced them myself.

So you might want to consider listening to a vampire the next time you're in the mood for something paranormal. With the right narrator, you'll wish that vampire was in the bed right beside you.

Here's a sneak peek at my book, Vampire Forgotten, in audio: To buy a copy of either one of my vampire books, just click on the links below:

About Me

I started writing years ago, and my first attempt was a contemporary romance that will never see the light of day. I think I may even have thrown it away by now. It was absolutely horrific as I knew nothing about well…anything to do with writing. After that, I started writing fantasy romances about wizards and wizards, and once those took off, I segued to paranormal romances (hello, vampires and ghosts) and romantic suspense. I also write articles for various magazines, including The Writer’s Journal, Writer’s Magazine, Writer’s Weekly, Writing for Dollars, Absolute Write, and Funds for Writers. I’m fortunate to make my home in historical Charleston, South Carolina. Beautiful city. Beautiful people. When I’m not writing, I love to read, create videos, keep Target in business, play visitor in my city, and drink lots of coffee.

You can find me all over the internet, but here are just a few of the places:

Blending Steampunk and Paranormal Romance: AAD Spotlight and Giveaway with Theresa Meyers

There’s something inherently fascinating about bringing two distinctive things together to create something new. Take Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Chocolate, perfect in its own right and deserving of a food group all its own. Peanut butter, the staple of probably more than half of the school kid lunches in America on every given day. Both all on their own fantastic, but when put together, well, the angels sing.
That’s what blending steampunk and paranormal romance is for me as a writer, and it’s why I wove them both into The Legend Chronicles. I love both as their own thing, but when merged into one story, it’s simply irresistible. It also makes my steampunk world a little different bend than most. Yes, of course there are the wonders of science, the mad genius, the spirit of adventure, but there’s also a darkly mystical side to my world. My heroes in the Legend Chronicles, three brothers named after their father’s favorite guns, are supernatural hunters in the Wild Weird West.
Winchester, Remington and Colt have been trained to hunt down and destroy the Darkin that threaten humanity. So while regular people go about their daily lives, these guys don’t bat an eye-lash when it comes to fighting down demons, slay shape-shifters, battling hell-hounds or going up against ghosts. They just do it with some fantastical steampunk help, such as Colt’s clockwork horse, Tempus, Sting Shooters (that are steampunk, Tesla-coil-powered tasers) and the specially designed Darkin-killing bullets perfected by their inventor friend Marley Turlock. They know that while ordinary people might not see the ending of the world coming, they are the first, last and only defense in making sure humanity survives.
Part of what I love about steampunk is the essence that anything was possible if you were just curious, adventurous or determined enough to make it happen. It’s accepting that we can be more, do more, than we ever thought possible by reimagining the past as it could have happened. I love the clothing, the elegance and intricacy that was part of the Gilded Age. I’ve a bit of a Victoriana nut with a strong love of tea, and I’m a maker in my own right. I sew, design, paint, and can my own home-grown fruits, veggies, sauces and soups, when I’m not out tackling my herb garden. For me steampunk is like the peanut butter. It’s gritty, it’s brown, it’s got a specific flavor you won’t find anywhere else and you know it when you taste it.
With paranormal romance, I’m just as fascinated by the things we can’t see that still influence us. Most of my writing tends to take a paranormal path, likely because when I was little my mother did things like pretend we had elves in the tree stump in the back yard. They even talked under my window one night—which I later found out in my 20s was due to a tape-recorder. She made my brother and I believe in the magic all around us and I still have that rose-colored tint to how I look at the world today. But if there’s one thing about the paranormal I’ve learned, it’s that there’s balance. Dark must have light to survive and vice versa. And with paranormal romance, the ending is always sweetly satisfying. You know the good guys win and that love can conquer all. Paranormal romance is like chocolate. It’s dark, it’s varied, the subtle changes and flavors are nearly endless and when done right it can be an experience you can’t get enough of.
So when it comes to blending steampunk and paranormal romance, it’s not just about the fantastic inventions or goggles, nor is it about the balancing act between the dark and light forces of the paranormal world and the power of love. It’s a bit of both, blended together to create a flavor of fiction that’s something familiar but also completely different. That’s what I’ve tried to accomplish in my Legend Chronicles series, but you may have to taste it yourself to find out.

Book Description:
The Chosen: a prophecy older than dirt and more dangerous than death. Even as they perfected steam-powered gadgetry and rounded up varmints from Hell, the Jackson brothers didn't believe in it. But when the chips are down, three brothers named for weapons aren't going out without a fight...

A Walk On The Wild Side
Attorney by day, demon-hunter by night, Remington Jackson is used to being on the sunny side of the law, even in the Wild West. But it's showdown time, and Remy and his brothers are getting desperate. They don't have the relic they need to slam the door shut on evil—so Remy is going to have to find and steal part of it.

Enter China McGee, shapeshifter, thief, beauty, and current prisoner. When Remy offers her freedom in exchange for a little light-fingered help, she's pretty sure she's going to end the association with a good old-fashioned seductive double cross. But there's something about fighting through a jungle full of Aztec ruins that makes you want to settle down together. China could change. Remy might be special. But none of that matters if the devil takes them all...

About the Author:
The progeny of a slightly mad (NASA) scientist and a tea-drinking bibliophile who turned the family dining room into a library, Theresa Meyers learned early the value of a questioning mind, books and a good china teapot.
A former journalist and public relations officer, she found far more enjoyment using her writing skills to pen paranormal novels in the turret office of her Victorian home.
She’s spent nearly a quarter of a century with the boy who took her to the Prom, drinks tea with milk and sugar, is an adamant fan of the television show Supernatural, and has an indecent love of hats.

Sex in the Future with Skhye Moncrief

Well, sex is sex. I’m an anthropologist and often just think “gene flow” when I think of sex. That’s what sex is—how genes flow. But that’s far too clinical for a blog post when I’m marketing erotic romance. So, what do I think everyone wants to hear? Sex in the future is crazy! *evil cackle* Well, not really to me. Humans have been having sex on this planet for one or two millennia. We’re still doing it the old way…There’s a hole. Stick it in there. *evil cackle* Mind you, there are some variations on that theme when it comes to the how and it with the old way. But, in erotica and erotic romance, readers want color. They want fireworks. They want to live vicariously through the story. That means authors must embellish on the act. I’m guilty of applying said embellishments. Still, there are various ways to embellish on the sexual act:
writing romance with sensual sex sceneswriting erotic romance with even more details in the sensual sex scenewriting erotica where the sensual aspect might not come into play at all (peg/hole)
Me, well, I write the sensual or sensual detailed sex scene…Who doesn’t like all that sex in her reading material? There was a time about a year ago when I devoured everything in the Ellora’s Cave AEON line. Out of those books, there were only two I couldn’t finish. That shows what I write—romantica (erotic romance) of the futuristic persuasion. I suppose I like all the detailed sex scenes. Or do I?
Why is all that explicit sex in futuristics? Good question! I move my sex scenes into the realm of the unknown—the paranormal or the future. This is fun. This is exciting because an author can do new things or play with the taboo. And erotica is all about the taboo. But what I tend to do is make my characters human or play on their non-human characteristics in the future. I can’t help myself. I studied anthropology too long. But since I’m writing erotic romance, the focus is on sex where the sex is central to the story. It’s most often the external conflict. That means I have to be creative and think up new situations where sex unfolds differently. The category of unfolding differently can involve many things. All you need to do is subscribe to the SHOCKING SEX SCENES thread on the Kindle discussion boards http://www.amazon.com/forum/romance/ref=cm_cd_pg_pg1?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=FxM42D5QN2YZ1D&cdPage=1&cdSort=oldest&cdThread=Tx323AZXX45PRB9to see what I mean. I have read many of those books in wrapping my brain around the genre labeled erotica. So, after everyone goes to subscribe to that discussion, come back to see where I go with penises and sex as survival! ;P
Now, the next facet of futuristic sex is: how does it work? There’s a hole. Stick it in there. *evil cackle* Okay, I already used that one. So, let’s try: Thank God for gravity! Oh, you don’t like that one? How about: He has two whats? There’s a hot market for aliens with two penises. I have yet to go that route but really need to...However, I’ve written fancy schmancy cyborg penises with three settings in FERAL FALLOUT. Yep! It worked! Um, the penises worked, that is. LOL And I’ve written the alien with a penis that glows, has filaments, and the tip expands to lock the hero/heroine together for a while in FERAL FLAW. You can’t miss that torch in a dark cave! It, too, can show the lucky heroine the way…Then, in my WERESCAPE series, I’ve written werewolf penises that are huge and embedded with hard ridges. Well, you can guess why—for the heroine’s enjoyment. You know it’s because the heroine really is the character in the story who gets to have all the fun. Yes, I write for a female audience, and girls just want to have fun…In SLIPSTREAM, well, the alien king needs to collect the heroine’s eggs. So, he has a special use for his penis. I won’t spoil that for readers by explaining the catch.
Another important aspect of futuristic sex is making it essential for the character’s survival. I love that kind! It makes the hero and heroine trapped with each other like in my Feral Series. The werewolves are psychics who find mates, exchange blood (like vampires), and then must exchange blood through biting every 48 hours or turn into destructive werewolves. That said, sex delays the shape shifting if blood isn’t available to prevent the shifting. I played heavily on that detail in FERAL FEVER when the heroine is given seven Tiger Lord guards as mates even though she only wants one (she is the queen and reigns over her consorts). I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. Now in SLIPSTREAM, the heroine is having sex dreams where she sleepwalks reliving the sex memories she had on various alien worlds. The catch here is that she has to have a guard (Space Marine) to tie her body to her bed and keep her safe at night while she’s having these sex memory dreams—with him. Or she sleepwalks. And someone is hunting her. If that isn’t external conflict tied to sex, what is?
So what is it about futuristic sex that gets the reader all crazed to reach the end of a story? I can ramble on and on about that but won’t. I write the bonding of consenting adult characters in the throes of making love. I attempt to show their emotions, goals, motivations, and conflicts with everything in a story through their thoughts. It’s my writing style. So, don’t expect a narrator to tell you anything about the characters/story. However, you will live said story with the POV characters. And you will be on the table, against the wall, in the Mess Hall during the evening meal on the table, knees parted and squirming, tied or chained, blissfully losing your eggs, legs wrapped around a male’s hard body inside a moon, begging to be bitten, or trying to encourage two Space Marines to work together by ordering them into a ménage all the while trying to keep their bodies from touching because they aren’t really happy with the situation. That’s the kind of futuristic sex I write. Just long emotional sex scenes studding a complex plot. No peg/hole in my tales! It’s the setting and the parts that make futuristic sex different. However, there is the little problem of alien females that have two holes for the double-phallused males of their species! But, alas, I don’t have time to go where I have to create words! ;P

Congratulations, Dr. Charlotte Barley! You won a one-way ticket to Diablo's Shithole!

Yes, Dr. Barley, you saved earth from humanity's extinction brought on by overpopulation, discovered wormholes, and gave humanity a new lease on life. But, you're being hunted by someone using a wormhole device you can't fathom, plagued by a type of sleepwalking that involves reliving your alien sexual experiences gleaned from wormhole journeys, and, yes, we see that you can't deal with your murdered bodyguards--mercenary Space Marines forced to anchor your body to a bed at night by acting out the sex memories haunting your REM cycle. Get over it already because there's nowhere left to hide except Diablo's Shithole...And the shit is about to hit Diablo's fan more than you could ever imagine...Because, deep down inside, you know you're into all that kinky sex.

So, who will the next victim be? Is tall, long, and corded astrophysicist Major Fitzroy capable of dancing with death to save your ass, or are you willing to sacrifice hotter-than-sin muscle-bound explosives fanatic Corporal Laurel? Just don't let their nuts rub together. And you know your alien-infested sexual dreams are a huge turn on for you. Just face the music, honey. Can your bodyguards fulfill the sexual fantasy of the king of all alien kings and his troop of humping brothers until the truth is exposed to save your ass?

So, Dr. Barley, you slut, ready for another slide down a slippery wormhole to Diablo's Shithole? It looks like a lot of fun. And more than those feet are going to get wet in the SLIPSTREAM.

Warning: Reader should be prepared for a heroine who curses like a sailor and knows she's a slut, Space Marines with sex on the brain, a Corporal with a clit fetish, aliens who bite and harvest things best left hush hush, as well as a little human m/f/m, even more alien m/f/m/m/m/m, and a plenty m/f in a plot heavily laden with reproduction and sexual gratification. Finally, this story proves one universal constant: it never hurts to drop the soap. About the Author:
Educated in geology and anthropology, writing lured Skhye away from finishing her thesis in (bio-archaeology) anthropology. Aside from muscled men in fur, leather, denim, and kilts, Skhye loves cultural ecology, cultural evolution, cultural relativism, and natural processes…Big ideas…Simple concepts that manifest in world building to crazy people like Skhye who studied anthropology and geology ad nauseum before turning to writing romantic fiction. Her rule of thumb is to love the good, the bad, and the ugly of every culture in her tales so that every culture in her tales and every aspect of her stories resonates as real as possible.
