Two Fellow Authors Win Lambda Awards: One From Ravenous Romance and One From Loveyoudivine
Last night the 24th annual Lambda Literary Award Ceremony was held in NYC, and I just found out that two authors, from two different publishers I work with, won in their respective categories.
Debra Hyde won best in lesbian erotica for "The Story of L," published by Ravenousromance.com.
And Dirk Vanden won best in gay erotica for "All Together," published by Loveyoudivine.com.
I've been with both publishers for a long time (with Ravenous since they started) and I've seen the publishers and the a...

Do You Think Kids Should Be On Facebook?
I find this all very fascinating. And before I get to the link with a survey, I'll explain why I find it fascinating. A friend of mine with a 13 year old son recently had a problem with FB. Like all his friends, the 13 year old wanted to be on FB because everyone else is doing it. He's a good kid and never had any serious problems in school. A and B student; gets along well with everyone.
So my friend let his son set up an account and my friend started to monitor the 13 year old's posts. Soun...

Facebook New Friend Request Fail for Authors...
This is a good example of how to "friend" someone on Facebook:
Hi, thanks for accepting my friend request. Hope we get to know each other better.
To which I always reply:
Thank you for sending the request. Nice to meet you.
I have never not accepted a request from anyone. I know there are people who guard their friend list with great care. I respect that but I'm not one of them. I figure I'm out there already with books and I'm not going to insult someone by not accepting a friend request. I mad...

Canadian Porn Star Luka Rocco Magnotta Arrested for Murdering Boyfriend

Luka Rocco Magnotta, a Canadian pornster, connected to kitten killing videos and snuf videos, was arrested in Berlin.
According to Huff Post:
Interpol issued an arrest warrant last week for Magnotta, 29, who faces first degree murder charges over the videotaped death of a Chinese student, whose body parts were mailed to political parties in the Canadian capital Ottawa. (Reporting by Alexandra Hudson; Writing by Noah Barkin)
On "The Gateway Pundit," here, there's more information and links to an...

What the Stars are Reading, Writing, and Karina Smirnoff's Comments on Fifty Shades of Grey
I always find it interesting to read what's being read and talked about in the mainstream. Usually I get this information from magazines like Time and People. Of course Time is more conservative, but I think People magazine's articles about books are probably more accurate when it comes to the mainstream. I also like the fact that People magazine is now posting, on the address label above my name, "People now on select tablets!" Evidently, they know where their market is headed.

In Honor of Diamond Jubilee...

Although I'm not the most religious person in the world, I do have respect for those who are.
When I saw this prayer on a web site, here, I wanted to post it in honor of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
"The Church of England has composed a prayer of thanksgiving for her remarkable reign."
Once again, global history being made right before our eyes.[image error]

"Fifty Shades of Grey" Reviews...E.L. James
I hate to keep posting about FSoG, but love it or hate it, it's fascinating to watch how popular it has become. I've done a lot of posts and I liked it, but I'm not going to link right now. This post is more about books in general.
I saw an article about FSoG just a few minutes ago that wasn't extremely significant, but I was curious about the kinds or reviews it's been getting on Amazon since I went there last. At the time, in early March, there were something like 250 reviews. Most of them...

John Irving's Story of a Bi-Sexual Man: "In One Person"

I've read everything John Irving has ever had published...sometimes more than once. And so far, though I'm not finished with "In One Person"...I haven't been disappointed.
Here's a quote from a personal essay written by Irving:
In One Person is about a young bisexual man who falls in love with an older transgender woman--Miss Frost, the librarian in a Vermont public library. The bi guy is the main character, but two transgender women are the heroes of this novel--in the sense that these two cha...

More Cover Previews for Jonah Sweet of Delancey Street

I'm still trying to choose which print I like best for Jonah Sweet of Delancey Street, white or gold, so I decided to post both on the blog and spend a few days thinking about it.[image error]

What's Up With Fictionwise Reader Ratings?
Has anyone else noticed this?
I went to Fictionwise.com to check out a book and noticed that all the reader ratings are different. For one thing where it says "Great" I saw nothing for any of the Fictionwise titles.
I sent them a note asking. Now I'm curious. When I'm shopping for a book those ratings mean a lot to me...sometimes just as much as Amazon or ARe.
Did I miss something? Has the format changed?[image error]
