France to Legalize Gay Marriage; Church of England "Shocked"

International news for January 2013.

The following information about France, gay marriage, and the Church of England came from reports I read at Baltimore Gay Life.

In France, this has been happening:

A proposed bill from France's socialist government due to pass in mid-2013 would legalize gay marriage and adoption, but not assisted procreation. Deutsche Welle reports that supporters of the bill waved rainbow flags and held up signs saying "liberty, equality, dignity" and "hate is not a f...

Gay Author: Curt H. von Dornheim...LGBT Fiction and Non-fiction

When I first read Curt H. von Dornheim's work, I found two of my favorite things combined in one author. He's a gay author who writes both fiction and non-fiction, and the non-fiction is focused on more spiritual topics that resonate with people who are LGBT and might be searching for something more than they can find in the mainstream.

I can't find an author bio on Amazon, but I do know he's a retired minister and once worked as a professional organist in some of the most...

Aaron Swartz; What Defines Bullying and Criminal Internet Activity; FREE Excerpt from The Wall Street Shark

What defines cyberbulling and criminal Internet activity is not something that can be pinpointed as clearly as other criminal activities, and what Aaron Swartz was dealing with at the time of his death has caused more than a few interesting reactions.

For those who might not have been following this, Aaron Swartz was a talented Internet pioneer and activist. He founded Infogami which later merged with Reddit. He was also part of Harvard University and specialized in sociall...

Lesbian Couple Humiliated and Degraded in North Carolina Restaurant

When a good friend in Brooklyn e-mailed this to me earlier today, I have to say I was shocked to see that something like this would happen in North Carolina. I know a few gay couples who've left New Hope to move to NC, and they've never complained about anti-gay attitudes...or anything like getting handed an anti-gay letter in a restaurant. I love the Outer Banks. Ashville is not only one of my favorite cities in the US, it's the home of my all time favorite author, Tom Wolfe, who wrote "Look...

On Amazon Dropping Gay/Lesbian Category From Best Books of 2012...

This is a tricky post because I can't find anything out there about it. So if I fail to give the who, what, when, where, and why this time, at least I'm admitting the reason why. I hate to post about things I couldn't fully research, but sometimes there's not much choice.
Allegedly, Amazon dropped the Gay/Lesbian category from their Best Books of 2012 list. I read about this in a couple of places earlier today and I was too busy finishing up the next book in the bad boy bill...

LGBT Poet, Richard Blanco; Presidential Inauguration

While doing a search for who is actually part of the Presidential Inauguration Committee, I found this article about Richard Blanco, LGBT Poet, by accident.

Today, Richard Blanco was announced as the 2013 Inaugural poet. He will recite a poem at President Obama's swearing-in ceremony on Monday, January 21.

Not only is Blanco the youngest person chosen to to be the Inaugural poet, but he is also the first Hispanic or LGBT person to receive this honor. He is the fifth poet ever to read an offici...

Why Would Louis Giglio Even Be Considered for Obama's Inauguration?

I haven't seen much about this in the mainstream media, which doesn't surprise me in the least, but I'm curious as to why Louis Giglio would even be considered for the Obama inauguration.

For those who don't know, this is what's been happening.

From HuffPo:

The Rev. Louie Giglio, the Atlanta pastor of Passion City Church who will deliver the benediction at President Barack Obama's inauguration, is under fire for anti-gay preaching and for calling Christians to respond to the gay-rights movement...

Friday Comes: All Things Penis

While searching for various words to use instead of penis (that weren't slang, already over-used, and uncouth), I came across a few interesting web sites and wound up getting lost over the rainbow in all things penis. And while I didn't find any words that work better than what I've been using for years in erotic fiction (plain and simple still works best), I did find a few interesting facts I didn't know.

But if you don't like penis, you might want to skip this post.

4 Penis Myths...

What's a Gay Chickenhawk; Award for Worst Book Review; Eisler on Objectivity; Bully Site Taken Down; Public Domain LGBT Pics

I don't know about anyone else, but I always find these things like "gay chickenhawk" interesting, especially since I missed out on that time period in the seventies and eighties where there were so many symbolic slang references in gay culture. I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between what a red, yellow, or brown scarf means. And even though I'd heard the term "chickenhawk" I never really knew what it was until I looked it up.

According to Urban Dictionary, this is a...
