Papillon Center for Transgender Transition New Hope, PA

I've lived in New Hope for over twenty years and just learned there's a place for transgender transition assistance called the Papillon Center. A friend sent me a link this afternoon and I checked it out thoroughly and from what I see on the web site it's extremely well executed. I post these things from time to time because the T in LGBT is often overlooked, and also because I've written a few transgender romances that garner a decent amount of e-mails.
From the web site of the Papillon Welln...

Jimmy Carter/Women's Rights; Kinky Boots on Broadway; New Comment Rules at Dearauthor

Always way ahead of his time, and rarely hesitant to express his opinions, President Jimmy Carter wrote an excellent article about leaving the Southern Baptist Convention after six decades. In a very blunt but poignant statement, but also on target with the way many Americans feel these days about organized religion and how women are treated, President Carter wrote this a few years ago. And because I've seen so many issues lately with women's rights, sometim...

How Do You Feel About Amazon's E-book Return Policy?

There's been a petition going around this week about Amazon's e-book return policy. As I understand it, if you purchase an e-book on Amazon you have the option of returning it within a seven day time period if you're not happy with that purchase. As a side note, before I continue, I would LOVE to see the same kind of return policy with movies I rent at home or pay to see in theaters. Once you click that rent button on demand, you're stuck with the fresh hells of Jennifer Anniston without...

Rosebuds or Lips; We Need Good Copy Editors; Silicon Valley Sex Scandal

I've posted about why we need good copy editors...as authors and readers...a few times before, but something interesting came up earlier this week and I wanted to post about it before I forget.
First, a good copy editor to a writer is one of the most essential elements in the process of creating a book. Those authors who work with publishers, either large or small, probably already know this, so this post is more geared toward self-published authors right now. It's not always a magi...

Teaser From Fangsters

Here's a short teaser from my new release with Riverdaleavebooks.com, Fangsters. This is from a scene where Anton and Digger, two young vampire cousins, were sent out on an assignment handed down from the boss of their organized crime clan. One thing leads to another, and Anton and Digger wind up trapped in a set up without a clear cut way to escape. And this all takes place in a south Jersey tanning salon, where the UV rays can kill them instantly.
This is from the raw unedited version. I do...

They decided to push up the release date of my new gay romance, "Fangsters," to this week, and I'm posting links to it as the links start coming to me. Right now, you can find out more about it here at allromanceebooks.com. Here's the Amazon link. And here is a link to the publisher's web site.
This book was published by Riverdaleave.com, and it's going to be the first in a series of erotic romance novels featuring vampires. I've already posted a good deal about this book, and you can read mor...

Freedom To Marry Supreme Court Photos and More
I thought I'd share this from Freedom to Marry.
From my inbox:
Ryan -
Last week, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the freedom to marry and the so-called Defense of Marriage Act. They aren't expected to announce their decisions until June. Just as lawyers made the case for marriage in the courtroom, we can make the case for marriage in the court of public opinion.
That's why we're launching our new Right Side of History Tumblr. It's filled with striking, emotional, awe-inspiring graphics...

7,000 Dental Patients Take HIV Test

At least 7,000 patients of the Dr. Scott Harrington Oral and Facial Surgery practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma, have been alerted after one patient tested positive for HIV and Hepatitis C. However, when tested again this patient tested positive for Hepatitis C and not HIV. The 7,000 have been encouraged to be tested for HIV and Hepatitis C as a precaution.
Even so, a complaint filed by the Oklahoma Dental Board cites Harrington for an array of safety and health violations that created contamina...

Evolution of Gay Rights Through Magazine Covers

When I saw an article about the evolution of gay rights through magazine covers, I thought I'd share. It's interesting to reflect on how much has changed in the last fifty or so years, and to also see it in such an organized, uncomplicated way. At the time, I don't think anyone thought he or she was doing anything this significant, or working in a step by step process that would take this long.
You can measure how quickly public opinion on gay rights has changed by looking at poll n...
