People Like Us Star Chris Pine Wins CinemaCon Male Star of the Year

When I saw that Chris Pine had won CinemaCon Male Star of the Year, I wanted to do a quick post about it. Though most know Pine from Star Trek, I first saw him in a film called People Like Us and loved both the film and his performance (highly recommend this film to anyone). I posted about that here last November.
"With this summer's Star Trek Into Darkness … and then at year's end, with the release of Jack Ryan, without a doubt 2013 is going to be Chris Pine's year," CinemaCon managing...

My List of Published Fiction: Part One
I'm putting this list together for several reasons. One of which is I've been careless about doing something like this for a long time and I'm not even sure what's out there myself. Another is because most authors have a complete list of their works on their web sites and I think readers like checking these things out.
My apologies for not doing it much sooner. I'll post an Amazon link to each one. And because there are so many I'll be doing them in a few different posts. This is Pa...

Vatican Buys Large Gay Suana; Philadelphia Archdiocese Sponsors Anti Gay Event

I'm not making this up; the Vatican did buy a large chunk of property in Rome for 30 million and one of the businesses is a gay sauna. I won't get snarky here. I would love to, but I'm sticking to facts now.
According to Bathhouse Blog:
The hope is to house several Catholic priests.
You can read more here, where you will find an additional link. Be interesting to see how long the sauna lasts now with these new landlords.

Is a GREAT First Line Realistic for Every Novel?

Among several things about the query process that has always left me somewhat bemused is the constant harping by some that every first line in every new novel written must be so spectacular it tops all first lines in every other novel that's ever been written. Those of you who have spent any time querying literary agents, or reading some of the more sensationalized literary agent blogs, know what I mean.
There's one agent who gets so excited about great...

Conner Habib Adult Star; The Joey Stefano Story; Bad Boy Billionaire List

An author friend of mine, A.B. Gayle, turned me on to a great blog (the whole blog, not just one post) written by adult entertainment star, Conner Habib. One post in particular, The Virtues of Being an Object, was something I couldn't stop reading the moment I started it. I've probably mentioned before how I think we tend to objectify both men and women nowadays...depending on who you talk to. It also gives a first hand impression of adult entertainment, and it's not the hype w...

The Edsel of Tablets? ePad Femme..."Easy and Pink Enough for Women"

For those who know nothing about cars, the Edsel was built in the late 1950's by Ford, and it was supposed to be this grand new concept...much like what I read about the ePad Femme more recently. I found this in wiki:
The Edsel is most famous for being a marketing disaster. Indeed, the name "Edsel" became synonymous with the "real-life" commercial failure, of the predicted "perfect" product, or product idea. Similar ill-fated products have often been colloquially referred to as "Edsels". Since...

What Gay Men Need to Know About Prostate Cancer

While perusing the web this evening I came across an interesting post at the Riverdaleavebooks.com blog. The post is titled, "A Really Important Book," and it discusses something of huge significance to gay men.
Prostate cancer. I have known more than a few gay men who've been diagnosed and those who caught it in time are doing well now. But like all cancer, it needs to be addressed in the earlier stages instead of the later stages.
Riverdale has a new book out titled, "What Every Gay Man Need...

Judge Rules Against Bloomberg Sugary Soft Drinks; Free Excerpt From New Self-Published Story: Sugary Soft Drink Twink

The other morning while watching local news, I saw a piece about a new law in NYC. Mayor Bloomberg wants a law that states no sugary soft drinks in containers of more than twenty ounces can be sold legally. And while I don't drink sugary soft drinks at all, I found it interesting that no one seemed to be questioning a law like this. I like freedom. I don't like being told what to do...or what not to do. I think if pot were legalized tomorrow the same people who have been smokin...

New Pope's Previous Stand on Gay Marriage and Adoption

A new Pope has been elected, who will stand as the 266th Pope, and will take the name Pope Francis. He's a Jesuit, the first Latin American Pope, and he's from Buenos Aires.
During various interviews this week I've watched people in the US express what they'd like to see in a new Pope. One of the most popular wishes was that he bring people together. The other was that he reform some of the pasts rules and regulations. Most people when asked were not hesitant to mention things like birth cont...

Michael Vick Cancels Book Signing; Joan Rivers' Lesbian Kiss; "He's Bewitched"

In an unfortunate turn of events, football star, Michael Vick, canceled his book signing schedule and a book tour that would take him to Atlanta, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Whether or not he will be signing books in other states is unclear.
The reason for the cancellation was that Vick has allegedly received death threats that stem from his involvement with dog fighting. After serving time in prison for this he's been outspoken about his mistakes, rectifying his mistakes, and he'...
