Cover Preview: The Actor Learning to Love; Patricia Nell Warren Honored; New Social Network "Pheed"

Here's the next cover for a book in the Bad Boy Billionaire series, "The Actor Learning to Love." If you notice, in the background they've added the Twin Towers as part of the New York Skyline. I requested that on purpose because one of the most emotional parts of this story has to do with the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11/2001. It's the first time I've ever done a book with anything like this, and it brought back a lot of memories I don't like to revisit. Though the majority of the book...

"What Gay Men Can Teach Straight Women About Sex" Fail

A few weeks ago Tony and I watched film starring Meryl Streep titled, Hope Springs , where they make reference to gay men and sex in conjunction with straight women in a somewhat peculiar way. We did what we always do when we see things like this in hetero mainstream films or TV shows: we looked at each other and groaned.

It wasn't a bad film, and Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, and Steve Carell were all excellent. I even loved the setting, which I'll get into in a moment. But to be perfectly h...

Book Review: Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou

I first heard about Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou from an interview at the back of Time Magazine called "10 Questions." I'd just finished an autobiography by Valerie Harper, I read something similiar before that, and I wasn't in the market for another memoir. However, after reading those ten simple questions in Time, I decided to buy the Kindle version of Mom & Me & Mom anyway.

The book begins with the earliest part of Angelou's life and how she and her brother, Bailey,...

Africa's First Traditional Gay Wedding; Zambian Gay Activist Arrested

Two gay men were recently married in what's being dubbed as the first gay wedding in Africa. One of the things they say was important to them was telling their families and getting that support from their families.

They also discuss having children:

“Family is important to us and that is the number one reason why we want to have children," Thoba said. "We also want our children to grow up in an environment where they are loved greatly by both parents who appreciate them."

FREE Giveaway: Fangsters: Clan of the Jersey Boys; I'll Match With Another Free Book

(Update: A FB friend informed me the free GR giveaway is for US members only. I will, however, be coming up with another free giveway of my own in the coming months that won't be restricted to anyone or any country. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while, and this just gave me the incentive :)

There's a free book giveaway for Fangsters: Clan of the Jersey Boys over at Goodreads that's being offered through my publisher, Riverdaleavebooks.com and GR.

You can check it out he...

New Social Media "Bookish" for Readers; Changing Attitudes on the Internet

A while back I posted about a new social network called Bookish. You can read that post here. From what I can see, it seems to be a more professional, if not more upscale, version of goodreads. I hate to sound elitist, but I find goodreads questionable when it comes to actual social networking. And now that Amazon has taken them over, I don't expect to see any grand upgrades soon. There are many things I love about Amazon, so don't get me wrong. But customer service and maintaining a civ...

Hillary Clinton New Book; Roger Ebert on Writing; Virgin Billionaire Tie-In with Pretty Man

As expected, Simon & Schuster sent out a press release with the announcement that Hillary Clinton will be writing a new Memoir.

Someone get my smelling salts.

Clinton had mentioned in an interview in January that she was working on a memoir. The book comes amidst increasing speculation that Clinton is considering a run for president in 2016.  You can read more here.  Roger Ebert on Writing I saw this article over at GalleyCat and decided to share because I've always th...

Cherry Soda Cowboy; Clinical Definition for "Ass-Crack"

I've chosen a release date for Cherry Soda Cowboy, which will be April 19th. I will say that every single release date I've ever had has been exciting...even those I didn't know about until the last minute. But the reason I don't do hyped up promotions for release dates is because I've found that with genre romance/fiction like I write it's more important to get the book out to readers and then let them decide when they want to buy it.

In other words, if JK Rowling is going to release a new H...

"Twilight's" Stephenie Meyer Comments on "Fifty Shades of Grey;" Gay Catholic Released From Church Duties

I may have missed it, but I haven't seen any public comments where "Twilight" author, Stephenie Meyer, commented on the E.L. James novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey." The reason why I'm curious about this is because it's been said that "Fifty Shades of Grey" originated as fanfiction under a different title and was allegedly based upon Meyer's "Twilight." A fact that to this day most people don't seem to know.

And this week in Time Magazine's "10 Questions" feature, there's an interview with S...

New Transgender Book by Elliott DeLine

For those who follow this blog, you know I've posted about transgender author, Elliott DeLine, several times. You can read those posts here.

And now he has another book out that's titled, I Know Very Well How I Got My Name. Without saying, I'm a fan of what he does, and how he's taken control of what he does. Books like this wouldn't have had chances a few years ago, and now that they are here I find myself enjoying them more and more as a reader. I'm posting basic info below,...
