Cherry Soda Cowboy Release; Don't Take Marriage Advice from a Hooker

Today my new story, Cherry Soda Cowboy, was released on Amazon and in a few other places. The product descriptions can be found there along with a book description and an excerpt. It is a .99 e-book and I didn't opt in to the KDP Select program. The reason for that is simple. If I had done KDP select, I would have been locked into a three month exclusive with Amazon and I wouldn't have been able to put the book up in places like Allromanceebooks.com or Smashwords. While I do like KDP, I don't...

Interview with Author S.L. Danielson

I met S.L. Danielson a while back and we've remained friendly since then. I like her style a lot, and I think she's an up and coming author to watch for. She has this adorable personality where she's not exactly shy, but not by any means pushy. She's just plain friendly, and very easy to talk to.
So we talked about doing an interview last weekend, and I came up with a few questions I thought readers might like. I often tend to get into more personal details about the author as a human instead...

Self-pubbed Star Hugh Howey's Epic Rant

I hadn't planned on posting about this incident with author Hugh Howey and his public rant, but since all authors are under scrutiny now more than ever, I decided to put it up just for my own sake, and record it on this blog. I often think of this blog as my own personal journal, and I reference it all the time. And this is news; this is interesting; this is current. I might want to go back and reference it once again.
For those who don't know, Hugh Howey is a self-published author...

New Zealand Sings for Gay Marriage; Challenged Books of 2012; Transgender Banned from Store; New York's Income Inequality

Everyone broke out in song after New Zealand became the first place in the Asian Pacific to legalize gay marriage. This would make them number thirteen, in the world, to recognize gay marriage legally. One lawmaker mentioned how her own daughter took another young woman to the prom last year. She spoke with pride about this and received huge applause.
As the announcement was read out, spectators watching in the gallery spontaneously started singing the New Zealand love song "Pokarekare Ana."
I...

Thoughts for Martin Richard; Who's Responsible; Westboro Blames Gays for Bombs

Yesterday, only moments before his dad was heading toward the finish line at the Boston Marathon, an 8 year old boy, Martin Richard, was waiting with his mom and sister on the sidelines. Like most little boys his age he loved baseball and riding his bike. I'm sure he was both thrilled and excited to see his dad finish one of the most difficult marathons in the world. And he must have been anticipating what most likely would have been an evening of family celebration.
In an instant, witho...

Justin Bieber on Ann Frank; "Mr. Selfridge;" Review: Fangsters Clan of the Jersey Boys

Justin Bieber went to visit the Anne Frank house and he left a message in the guest book that has some in a kerfuffle and others claiming the message was innocent and reflective.
This is what Bieber actually wrote in the guest book:
"Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber."
The folks at The Anne Frank House said this:
“The Anne Frank House was pleased to welcome Justin Bieber to the Anne Frank House last Friday. We think it i...

Update: Same Sex Couple Debacle with Missouri Hospital
I posted about the same sex couple debacle with a Missouri hospital earlier this weekend, and I found something else that sheds more light on what actually transpired. I'm sorry to say this becomes even more painful to read each time I see an update. In short, Roger and Allen are partners, they've been together for five years. Allen has medical issues, Roger has legal power of attorney, and Allen's family is not supportive of this. Lee is Allen's brother. You can read more of the details here...

Review: Switch Hitter by Alex Morgan & Jon Michaelsen

I was thrilled when the authors, Alex Morgan and Jon Michaelsen, asked me to read a pre-release copy of Switch Hitter for several reasons. One, I've been a fan of Jon Michaelsen's LGBT fiction for a long time. And two because I've never read anything by Alex Morgan. I also recently finished Maya Angelou's autobiography and that's a tough act to follow, so to speak.
I read the digital version of Switch Hitter all in one sitting last night. But it is about one hund...

"Gay" in the Edwardian Era; 101st Anniversary of Titanic Sinking

Although the Titanic actually went down on April 15, 1912, it hit the iceberg on April 14, 1912 and I've always considered that the exact date that led to its ultimate demise. And since tomorrow is April 14th, and it's a Sunday, I figured I would post something now in case I can't tomorrow. It's not going to be too long because there's not much to add about the sinking of the Titanic we don't already know, and there's also not much info out there about being gay at the end of the Edwardian Er...

Same Sex Couple Debacle with Missouri Hospital

I've been following this unbelievable debacle with the same sex couple in Missouri and their dealings with a hospital during a time of crisis. Before I continue, I'd like to state that I've been in medical crisis situations with Tony and we've always had legal power of attorney for each other. I'll comment at the end with my thoughts.
In summary, Allen and Roger are a gay couple who also have legal power of attorney because marriage it not legal for them in their state. Allen's diagnosis...
