Newspapers Drop "Dilbert" After Racist Rant on Twitter, Ryan Field Books

Newspapers Drop "Dilbert" After Racist Rant on Twitter

This is something that hurts. I see it all the time and it never seems to get better. It's about white people so deeply steeped in their own straight white privilege they can't see their own racism.

Newspapers in Ohio and Texas have dropped the cartoon character, "Dilbert," allegedly made racist comments about black people.

The creator of "Dilbert," Scott Adams, a 65 year old man, went on to Tweet this gem:

“Is it racist to avoid racists who ...

Pride Flag is Being Banned All Over, Ryan Field Books

Pride Flag is Being Banned All Over

I have to admit, in full disclosure, that Tony and I were never big on flying the Pride flag anywhere. Not near our homes or near out businesses. In New Hope, where we lived in a more rural setting there was no point in hanging flags because no one would see them. And every place else where we've lived we have had an HOA that frowns upon that sort of thing. And that doesn't mean they frown on the Pride flag or equal rights. They just don't want any flags flyin...

Now Utah Wants a Don't Say Gay Bill, Ryan Field Books

Now Utah Wants a Don't Say Gay Bill

I spite of the large population of LGBTQ people in Utah, someone is now trying to introduce a bill that's a lot like the don't say gay bill in Florida.

Rep. Jeff Stenquist who introduced the bill claims he borrowed some of the language from the Florida Bill. LGBTQ groups who are against the bill are referring to it as a, "copy and past culture war bill." Which is exactly what it is.

It really is almost word for word with Florida's bill.

That reads: “Classroom ...

Follow Up Story About Woman Who Set Pride Flag Afire at NYC Restaurant, Ryan Field Books

Follow Up Story About Woman Who Set Pride Flag Afire at NYC Restaurant

In these articles about the woman who committed a hate crime they continue to say "Gay Pride Flag," when it's really just the "Pride Flag." And no one ever tells them.

In any event, the woman who set fire to the flag has been arrested. They also charged her with a hate crime.

Her name is Angelina Cando and she's been arrested 3 times in a month.

She's been charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment, which are al...

Woman Caught Setting Fire to Pride Flag In Manhattan, Ryan Field Books

Woman Caught Setting First to Pride Flag In Manhattan

You can always tell when someone clueless writes an article like this. They keep referring to the Pride flag as the "gay" Pride flag. And that's not what it is anymore. The Pride flag includes everyone who falls under the umbrella of LGBTQIA. It's not just gay anymore.

They still know so little about us.

In any event, the police in NY are looking for a woman who set fire to a Pride flag in front of a restaurant. They got it all on video. It h...

White Sox Player Comes Out As Gay, Ryan Field Books

White Sox Player Comes Out As Gay

Well, another high profile athlete has come out as gay. Anderson Comas who is a White Sox minor league player made his announcement in Instagram. That seems to be the social media of choice for coming out.

There's a screen shot at the link I'm sharing below. It's a pretty long post that talks about love and so many other positive things.

This is part of what he said. He sounds like a great guy.

“I’m also a human with a great soul, I’m respectful, I’m a lover, I ...

What It's Like Traveling as a Gay Couple Where It Is Illegal to Be Gay, Ryan Field Books

What It's Like Traveling as a Gay Couple Where It Is Illegal to Be Gay

When Tony and I first started driving out to Palm Springs, CA, from the East Coast we were concerned about what it would be like in certain states. We were going by car, because of the dogs, and flying was not an option.

At the time...around 2016...we were not strangers to road trips. We had been driving 8 hours up to Provincetown for many years, and we got married legally in Vermont. But driving north through these states did...

New York Times Under Fire for Stories on Transgender Youth, Ryan Field Books

New York Times Under Fire for Stories on Transgender Youth

I'm not totally surprised by what the New York Times did, and now people are calling for a boycott and canceling subscriptions.

Around 200 people who contribute to the NYT are calling them out with an open letter for the way they have treated transgender issues. I saw it trending on Twitter last night and the outrage continues to grow.

One focus in the letter is on an article published in the Times about transgender youth. And kids who a...

The Onion Asks Conservatives Why They Despise Drag Culture, Ryan Field Books

The Onion Asks Conservatives Why They Despise Drag Culture

Before I get into this article, I'd like to state that I have known many drag performers in my time and none of them could stand kids. For that matter, most of the gay men I have known can't stand kids. So where all this drag story hour with kids comes from I honestly don't know. I have never known a single drag queen who wanted to read stories to noisy, sticky fingered little kids.

With that said, The Onion, which is mostly satire, deci...

Military Veterans Kicked Out For Being Gay, Ryan Field Books

Military Veterans Kicked Out For Being Gay

You know the old show MASH, the one where the straight guy wore women's clothing and pretended to be gay so he could get out of the military, well this is why I hated that TV show. It not only mocked us as gay men, it mocked all the gay men and women who really were kicked out of the military for being gay. It mocked those of us who hid in the closet. And it mocked those who only wanted to serve their country, unlike the character in MASH. It was not a ...
