I've posted about working with Winston Gieseke here on the blog a few times in the past. I was lucky enough to have worked with him on books with a German publisher, Bruno Gmunder. It was always a wonderful experience for me.
Well, Gieseke now has his own book out, and I think it looks fascinating. And it was coincidentally published on my birthday.

Thanks to COVID here's another cancellation in the LGBTQ community. It's normally an event that people look forward to every year.
Provincetown Bears is saddened to announce the suspension of Bear Week Provincetown 2020. Members of our board have watched the rampant developments of the coronavirus pandemic and we believe that it is not advisable for us to host the crowded parties this summer that are the hallmark of Bear Week.

On the global front, not everything is always negative for gay people.
Israel is set to have a record number of openly gay MPs after new rules allowing cabinet members to give up their seats came into effect.

Giant Loophole In SCOTUS Ruling For LGBTQ Rights
Early this week SCOTUS ruled that provisions listed under the 1964 Civil Rights Act also include LGBTQ people. Which means that you can't be fired for being gay or transgender. However, there's an issue.
But it includes a critical exception for small businesses with fewer than 15 employees, which employ as many as one in six Americans.
Here's the link. It goes into a lot more detail. And it also points out that this isn't the end of the fight for us....

SCOTUS Rules Workers Can't Be Fired for Being LGBTQ
This was nice to read, especially because it's been such a dismal Pride month with everything being cancelled thanks to COVID.
The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that workers cannot be fired for being gay or transgender in a major win for members of the LGBT community.
There's more here. It was a 6-3 vote. Many of us already have protections but this ruling makes it federal.
It's historic in more ways than one.
