San Francisco Opens Bath Houses Again; Authentic Gay Content: Gay Prison Fantasy Revived in "The Prince"; Ryan Field Books

San Francisco Opens Bath Houses Again

After about 30 years of keeping bath houses closed, San Francisco will soon vote on whether or not to let them reopen once again. They've been closed for years thanks to the AIDS epidemic. Of course they are still taking COVID into account.

“To be clear, this ordinance does not and will not require or allow the reopening of adult sex venues in San Francisco before it is safe to do so as part of our COVID-19 reopening,” said gay District 8 Supervisor Rafael Man...

Norway Prioritizes LGBT Refugees; Utah Republican Who Came Out As Gay Loses Bid; Ryan Field Books

Norway Prioritizes LGBT Refugees

Here's some excellent global news from Norway. I always notice how some countries take care of their LGBT population. Many times it's better than even in the US.

LGBT+ refugees will, for the first time, be given priority both as a group and individuals when Norway selects for transfers.

Here's the link to more. It's important to keep in mind that in many parts of the world LGBT people are living in fear for their lives.

Campaign To Save NY Gay Bar Julius'; A New Gay Beach In Pompano; Ryan Field Books

Campaign To Save NY Gay Bar Julius'

I've been in business for myself almost all my life, and as a business person I've always believed that if a business can't make enough money to at least break even, it's time to move on. With that said, not everyone agrees with me and some people will hang on for as long as they possibly can. And it's not always about the money. In this case it's about the history, too. This I totally agree with.

Julius’ Bar in NYC’s West Village is the site of the now-famous ...

50 Cent Mocks LGBTQ People; Thanks To COVID Many Gay Bars Are Struggling To Survive; Ryan Field Books

50 Cent Mocks LGBTQ People

I see this kind of homophobia happening all the time on social media.

This is how 50 Cent reacted to Halle Berry playing a trans man.

“You wanted to do what? Why? Oh my God. So if I still think you’re beautiful. I’m gay a** a MF. No. Next idea.”

Here's the rest. This isn't even half as bad as what I saw trending all weekend with regard to Fire Island and gay men. And wait until you see how J. K. Rowling is putting the spin on her transphobia.

Thanks To COVID Many Gay Bars ...

The Marble Faun of Grey Gardens by Jerry Torre and the Gay Angle; Halle Berry Backtracks On Playing a Trans Male Character; Ryan Field Books

The Marble Faun of Grey Gardens by Jerry Torre and the Gay Angle

I think I first watched the documentary, Grey Gardens, about 20 years ago. And I think by that time it was already 25 years old. It was filmed in the 70s by the Maysles brothers, and we had a great privately owned video store here in New Hope that carried a lot of independent art films and documentaries. So when I started reading The Marble Faun of Grey Gardens I knew the book was about Jerry Torre's experience as a gardener at Grey...

FREE Gay Fiction Excerpt: "Don't Be Afraid of Virginia's Woolf" by Ryan Field; Gay Man Suspected of COVID and Fire Island Crowds

FREE Gay Fiction Excerpt: "Don't Be Afraid of Virginia's Woolf"

I've been wanting to do a parody book like this for a long time, but the whole thing always seemed so dark I kept putting it off. "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" is not a cheerful heteronormative story, not by any means.  I was also never a huge fan because it's SO heteronormative. I could never relate to any of it.

However, I finally realized that it doesn't have to be totally dark, and the dynamics with all gay characters make it ...

People Who Feel They Came Out Too Late; He Came Out At 90 Years Old; Ryan Field Books

People Who Feel They Came Out Too Late

Sadly, this happens all the time.

But one 29-year-old who came out just before the pandemic crisis says he’s grappling “inescapable regret” for all his years in the closet.

You can read more here. Keep in mind that millions are still in the closet, and some might never come out.

Yes. That's how is still works sometimes. And that's why I lose patience with straight privilege.

He Came Out At 90 Years Old

I think I posted about this guy once already, but his stor...

Gay Porn Star Wants To Fly Him Out For a Video Shoot; Tarzan Made Him Gay; Ryan Field Books;

Gay Porn Star Wants To Fly Him Out For a Video Shoot

Here's yet another Reddit thing that's not something you run across every day.

A gay porn star found himself attracted to a fan, so he asked if the fan would do a video with him and the porn star even offered to pay for the fan guy's flight.

The fan guy wants to do the video, but he's worried about possible repercussions that might come about in his professional life from doing porn...even if he wears a mask.

Of course there are a lot of comments ...

Massachusetts To Recognize Polyamorous Relationships; Angry Straight Woman In Pennsylvania Screams About HIV; Ryan Field Books

Massachusetts To Recognize Polyamorous Relationships

First, polyamorous relationships are relationships with more than two people. They're usually long term and serious.

Somerville, MA just passed an ordinance that allows relationships to be defined as "formed by people," instead of defined as "formed by 2 persons."

Short story ... the ordinance allows for more than 2 people in a domestic partnership.

Here's the rest. It's a fascinating concept that I think will continue to gain momentum. And it cam...

Grindr Ditches Ethnicity Filter and it Backfires; Spencer Brown Comes Out As Gay; Ryan Field Books

Grindr Ditches Ethnicity Filter and it Backfires

Here's something from the world of hook up apps. Grindr decided to get rid of the ethnicity filter, but it backfired big time.

“For many Black gay men and gay men of color, the ethnicity filters allow them to find other men and befriend and build a community with them free from othering, fetishization, and white gaze,” he writes.

Here's the link to more.
