Super Review of Somewhere My Lass by Author Icy Snow Blackstone~
Somewhere My Lass by Icy Snow Blackstone
This story opens with a murder and goes uphill in a straight line from there. Virginia businessman Neil MacKenzie returns home at the end of the day to find his housekeeper dead in the foyer and a beautiful red-haired stranger unconscious on the stairs…and that begins a journey which will end in 17th century Scotland. The young woman's name is Mora Campbell and she insists on calling Neil "Niall" with the loveliest Scottish accent he's ever...

Those Wonderful Dances from Bygone Days~
I absolutely love 18th and 19th century dance scenes in period movies. And no one does them better than the British. So romantic and beautiful, and did I mention romantic? Some of the best dance scenes are in the various films based on Jane Austen novels, but there are many, many others. There's a delightful one in Miss Potter and Becoming Jane. The Young Victoria is a visual feast...I'm drawn to these scenes like a moth to a flame. Sigh. Why can't we still dance like that today?

My Trailer for Through the Fire~
Making these trailers takes forever so I'm behind. Still need one for Somewhere My Lass and Red Bird's Song, but I'm rather proud of this one. It was a team effort. I hope you enjoy it.

Breaking News! Green Tea Extact Helps Treat Cancer!
An ancient Chinese proverb says: "Better to be deprived of food for three days, than tea for one".
I am rejoicing at this recent report from the Mayo Clinic. "ScienceDaily (June 4, 2010) — An extract of green tea appears to have clinical activity with low toxicity in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients who used it in a phase II clinical trial, say researchers at Mayo Clinic."
I don't have this form of leukemia but a rare lesser one, T-cell LGL, also chronic, develops over a period o...
One of the Best Soundtracks and Movies Ever~The Last of the Mohicans!
OK, yes, The Last of the Mohicans movie is a huge favorite of mine. I suppose it would have to be considering I'm one of the only authors I know of fascinated with the colonial frontier and Eastern Woodland Indians–amongst other eras. I'm rather eclectic. But back to 'Mohicans,' I was already halfway through writing my first Native American themed novel, Red Bird's Song, (coming to The Wild Rose Press Sept. 10th) before I even saw the movie at the insistence of my then teenage son's...

Theme Song From The Vicar Of Dibley
I love this song, the unlikely theme from the now retired British comedy The Vicar of Dibley. A rather profound musical choice for a comedy, but it works, and I confess to having enjoyed the show. Actress Geraldine Granger as the newly arrived and outspoken vicar was a hoot. The song is The Lord Is My Shepherd, Music by: Choir Of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford – Psalm 23.

House & Wilson to "Hallelujah" by Rufus Wainwright
I came across this collection of House and Wilson clips someone put together over at YouTube and decided to offer it as a tribute to yesterdays' post on friendship. House and Wilson have a most unusual and yet close bond. I also think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever. Oh, and I'm a big House fan. Although, after I was recently diagnosed with something weird, the show didn't seem quite so entertaining anymore. But I got used to myself and am back to watching it again.

Several Reader Reviews for Somewhere My Lass
A delightful romp through time and 'place' with characters that are guaranteed to touch your heart. Mora..a gutsy 'to to' gal; considering she has been thrust into the 21st century! And Neil…a pragmatic man until he comes face to face with the past. Add to this, the charmingly adorable geek.. *and I do have a weakness for Geeks*.. Fergus. All combined makes for a wonderful story involving murder, mystery, romance and a touch of whimsy. ~Deb Sypeck
