The New World
I know. The New World came out in 2005 and I'm just now getting around to a critique, but I've only had my blog up and running for about a year, and I'm late when it comes to most movies anyway. I didn't even see it until the past year on Netflix because practically nobody had recommended it to me. But I was just revisiting the film on Youtube and it occurred to me, as I'm focused on colonial America lately, it's only appropriate to give The New World a mention. Especially as I'm...

Historical Colonial American Romance~

Backcountry South Carolina, Spies and Intrigue, a Vindictive Ghost, the battle of King's Mountain, Patriots and Tories, Pounding Adventure, Pulsing Romance…ENEMY OF THE KING.
A Bearwalking Shawnee Warrior, Dark Secret, Rugged Frontiersman, Mysterious Scotswoman, Drumming Suspense, Fiery Romance…DAUGHTER OF THE WIND.
The French and Indian War, A Shawnee Warrior, an English lady, Blood vengeance, Deadly Pursuit, Primal, Powerful, Passionate…THROUGH THE FIRE.

Where Have All the Colonial American Romances Gone?
I have two releases that qualify under this category, Through the Fire and Enemy of the King. Daughter of the Wind is set shortly after the American Revolution so technically it's not colonial although it has that flavor. And Red Bird's Song, release date 9-10-2010, is solidly colonial–the frontier, like in The Last of the Mohicans.
Eons ago colonial America used to be a popular romance theme. I think the moment I started writing them, New York stopped publishing them so that nowadays few a...

John Adams
For those of you who missed it, John Adams was an amazing HBO production. Extremely well done and historically right on. Seems like a fitting time of year to watch it for the first or second time or…
I'm an enormous fan of John Adams, a brilliant man, and his brave wife Abigail. A remarkable woman whose wit and resourcefulness I much admire. She should have had a turn at the Presidency. Might have done an even better job than the men. What John and Abigail Adams and their children...
Colonial American Historical Romance Novel For the 4th of July~
"Passion Governs and she never governs wisely." ~ Benjamin Franklin
Years ago as I was researching my early American Scots-Irish forebears I often came across references to a battle fought during the Revolution called the battle of King's Mountain. The name alone drew me. I vowed to go back later and research it more in depth and uncovered fascinating fodder for the imagination.
I learned about the gallant, ill-fated British Major Patrick Ferguson who lost his life and Loyalist army...
Historical Romance Novel For the 4th of July~Enemy of the King
Years ago as I was researching my early American Scots-Irish forebears I often came across references to a battle fought during the Revolution called the battle of King's Mountain. The name alone drew me. I vowed to go back later and research it more in depth and uncovered fascinating fodder for the imagination.
I learned about the gallant, ill-fated British Major Patrick Ferguson who lost his life and Loyalist army atop that Carolina Mountain called King's back in the fall of 1780. ...

By Savannah at Books With Bite
Title: Somewhere My Lass
Author: Beth Trissel
Reviewer: Savannah
I love time travel romance! I really do and this book was totally different from what I am used to reading. Different because I am so used to the guys time traveling and this time it was the woman who time traveled. Whowuddathunkit? It was refreshing to read a book with a different twist. Mora Campbell was thrust forward in time to search for her long lost love. She meets...

Welcome Autumn Jordon!
Today I have the pleasure of hosting a special guest. Rather unusual for me, come to think of it. I'm right much of a loner over here, just me and my imaginary friends, so I'm pleased to have fellow Wild Rose Press author, Autumn Jordon, to keep me company. Autumn is also a Golden Heart® finalist, one year later than me. Being a Golden Heart® finalist is kind of like being a King or Queen of Narnia, once a GH finalist, always a GH finalist. But then, that's just the sort of comparison I ...

All Of My Books To Date~Revised
As Galadriel said to Frodo in The Lord of the Rings, "You are a Ring-bearer, Frodo. To bear a Ring of Power is to be alone. To be passionate about history so that you feel it in your very essence and long to commune with the past is often to be alone. One profound way I've found to connect with those who've gone before me is through my writing. My work reflects the heart and soul invested in each word.
