5+ stars to The Starving Years at Reviews by Jessewave

"The Starving Years is not a warm and fuzzy book – it’s gritty and teems with drama, betrayal and violence yet it manages in the end to be a story about trust and love." Read the whole review here

Web question

Is it still advisable to register domain names that are variants on the one you always use? If you normally have a .com, should you register the .org, .info, .net, etc. to theoretically keep others from doing whatever nefarious thing they would do with a domain similar to yours?

I had all the similar sites registered to one of my domains, and I'm wondering lately if it was just a waste of money, and whether I need to bother renewing. I have a hard time picturing someone out there squatting on the domain trying to skim away my traffic.

What do you guys think?

Fun with banking

So...if you let your new debit card sit around too long without activating it, when you finally do call the 800-number on the sticker, it won't work anymore and you'll need to call the bank and talk to a telebranch agent. Know how I know? I've done it.

TWICE NOW.

I guess that makes it a JCP tradition *headdesk*

Hey, I'm focused on making books, what can I say?

In a couple of weeks the second edition of Channeling Morpheus Snare will hit the electronic shelves. I just finished the cover art this morning. (More Michael - yay!)

Puzzling out Vic

Hot on the heels of yesterday's riveting 999-piece puzzle post, here's a quick link to the free content from my March newsletter in case you missed it: a groovy online Victor Bayne puzzle!
(Someone told me they'd done the hard one...who was that? Post again, I meant to reply to you...)

Easy Puzzle

Hard Puzzle

The Missing Piece

In an effort to keep my brain lively, I've been doing jigsaw puzzles. I scored a big pile for 10 cents each at a yard sale this summer, and I was perfectly aware that I was jigging at my own risk, given the method of acquisition. But I figured, 10 cents, why not?

So wouldn't you know, this damn puzzle that I've been working on since NOVEMBER turns out to have 999 pieces. Yeah. There you go.

I guess I need to scoop it into the box and throw it away...I might hold out for discovering that piece somewhere cat-scattered, but so many of the puzzle pieces were in crappy shape with the photo peeling up off the piece, I suppose I'm doing everyone a favor by throwing this thing out.
