YTIFH Book Giveaway: Thank You for Being a Friend

I’d like to host my own little book giveaway, to thank you guys for all the support and passion you’ve given You Take It From Here and for making this book-writing thing a little less lonely. From the Amazon and Goodreads reviews, to the pictures of you with your copy you’ve posted to Facebook and Twitter, you’ve made me feel so much better about writing this novel. It’s sometimes a little frightening to put so much of yourself out there that somebody can literally put it in their cart at Cos...

Please Enjoy This Quick Exchange That Happened During Magic Mike

[warning: the tiniest bit spoilery, but not really.]

TILDA leaves at the end of a scene where Channing Tatum is asking for a loan. She is gone less than five minutes before she slinks back into her seat.

TILDA
(whispering)
Okay. What’d I miss?

PAMIE
(whispering)
Okay, you’re not going to believe this, but while you were gone you missed Channing Tatum in a Marilyn Monroe dress and wig, dipping his balls on someone’s head.

TILDA
What?! Are you serious?

PAMIE
Yes!

TILDA
Dammit! I was gone for a secon...

Blog Tour

It’s been busy here at Pamie Central with the new book coming out. Have you pre-ordered yet? Did you know that pre-ordering helps me TREMENDOUSLY? If you’re a fan of anything I’ve written for free over the years and perhaps aren’t a reader of this type of book, please think about buying one for the person in your life who would love this kind of book. PS: Do you have any idea how sexy/romantic/sweet it is to buy a book for someone? It’s better than flowers, I promise you. (Unless that book is...

Hey, Pamie: “How do I get an agent if I’m a writer/director/filmmaker?”

Today’s Weekly Procrastination came from an email out of last week’s comments section, and is a little out of my wheelhouse. So I enlisted the help of my longtime friend Kat Candler. Kat and I met at the Kansas City Film Festival what feels like six million years ago, and I’ve watched her grow into a breathtaking badass.

It also speaks to the caliber of person she is that when I asked if she would help me answer this week’s question, she took time out of her hectic schedule not to just jot off...

Hey, Pamie: “How Do I Move to LA?”

Today’s Weekly Procrastination (which couldn’t come at a better time on my procrastination schedule), fills me with anxiety.

Hi Pamie,

So I am thinking of moving to LA in…well, around a year from now after my current lease runs out. I am woefully unprepared as yet, so it all depends if I get my shit together by the deadline, I suppose. This isn’t so much a job-related question (since I don’t really know what I want to do other than “something different/creative that I don’t really have the opt...

Goodreads Giveaway for YOU TAKE IT FROM HERE

I can’t believe this book will be out in just over a month! This career I have involves a lot of writing that you never ever get to see. Scripts, pitches, outlines, specs — I write so much that isn’t for public consumption, or doesn’t make it far enough to get the greenlight.

So it’s a little bit freeing and terrifying that I can sit at my computer and write thousands of words that will be printed and bound and sent right to your house, if you so choose. Magic!

The CT RollerGirls Are Making Me Cry

A great letter in my inbox today.

Hi, Pamie,

How are you? Last year, I wrote to you about how your book helped nudge me into joining my derby league, and I had my first bout March 2011. You were kind enough to write back, which was really awesome.

Anyway, I wanted to pass along to you something I’m super proud that our league is doing. We’ve created a scholarship for a female athlete, not based on athletic ability, but based on her passion for whatever sport she plays in whatever capacity. So...

I Just Overheard the Most Amazing Monologue By This Drunk Lady

“You don’t know about Pinterest? You don’t know about PINTEREST?!

Pinterest.

PINterest. It’s on the Internet. It’s like, the most, the most, THE most amazingly successful website…EVER. Something like the fastest, hundred million, it’s like– do you know Facebook? Like TEN times that. Yeah.

It’s all about beautiful things and style.

Okay, what happens is like I see a picture or something I like. And I pin it. I pin it. ‘Pin.’ I pin it and then other people like it too, so they pin it. And then oth...
