betcha think the spiders got me…
But they didn't. Granted, I did get stung on my back by a bee yesterday. While sitting in bed writing. And it's the second time in my life I got stung on my back by a bee in bed.
What? I can't make this stuff up, people.
Oh, and the exterminator recommended a spider brush to me – he's like, they sell them at Home Depot. And I'm picturing this big brush that you whack spiders to death with.
Exterminator: You take the brush and you catch the spiders in them. Then you take the brush outside...

the vacuum, the spiders & me…
Yeah, okay, so Zoo's away (I think I just rhymed and I didn't mean to, but it's 5AM and I'm not really seeing straight anyway) and it's been fine with the kid and the dog and stuff for the past few nights. And last night, the kid decided that she only needed to sleep for an hour and wake up and so I put Elmo on and settled in with an old Linda Howard for comfort because I hadn't written all day and Linda Howard never fails to inspire me.
And Gus is all kind of running around and knocking his ...

Catch-up
We spent part of last week in Pittsburgh for the kid's (planned) spinal surgery – and she's doing wel.l (I can't say that too much or the karma gods come down and wreak havoc so…) We're just happy to be home and that our trees are back.
Tiny, tiny trees compared to what we had. *sobs* I need them to grow like 3 feet overnight because let me tell you – seeing my neighbor these last weeks has MORE than made up for the 10 years he was hidden behind trees. So yes, I talk to them a lot and...

the song remains the same…
I promise that all my blog post titles won't be song lyrics.
Maybe.
So Zoo's alarm clock (aka my cube) woke me up to La Isla Bonita. And you know when you've got a lyric in your mind wrong and you know it's wrong but you can't stop singing it wrong?
Yeah, I keeping hearing, young girls with eyes like potatoes, in my ear. And I know that can't be right. Who has eyes like potataoes?
It's like when my friend told me she thought the song, Big Old Jet Airliner was really, big ole chad had a rhino, ...

time won't give me time…
and time makes lovers feel, like they've got something real, but you and me we know we've got nothin' but time…oh, sorry, having a Boy George 80's moment. I still love that song.
Anyway, here's the deal – I want my cube clock back.
Seriously, I'm pretty good with new technology. I switched from a PC to a Mac without much issue, I've installed software and moved from a Blackberry to a PalmPre with few difficulties. I can work a remote, set my DVR.
I haven't been able to work an alarm clock...

post-storm
In my city, they're starting to pass out dry ice, which I'm taking as not a very good sign for those people who've lost power. (We're okay, so fingers crossed we stay that way.) It's a mess around here. Early Saturday, part of our neighbor's tree fell across his driveway into our yard. As Zoo said, it hasn't been a really good year for the foliage in our yard. Add 2 bushes and 2 more trees down, as well as parts of our fence, but it's nothing in comparison to what's happened around us.
I w...

sleep? sleep is for the weak…
It's all stormy out – a perfect morning to sleep in but, of course, that means I was up at 6AM for no apparent reason. Ah well, means I can justify a nap later. Except I'm not a great nap person – it never leaves me feeling refreshed, just icky and groggy.
So basically, I'm up for the day, coffee in hand and Scrivener (my writing program) open and ready to go.
Gus, on the other hand, is not looking forward to the rain. Snow, yes, but rain makes him crazy. He doesn't like getting wet, even t...

musings on a blog
So I'm watching People's Court, because I love Judge Milian (especially when she starts yelling and quoting things in Cuban – she reminds me of my friend Christina) and she's doing this case with college aged kids who took pictures of their friends partying and such (basically, in compromising positions) in order to use them against each other to get out of living together – so they could break a lease, pretty much.
And so the judge holds up the pictures, taken on the phone and says something ...

Monday things
Okay, revisions for PROMISES IN THE DARK went in about an hour ago! (big sigh of relief, even though I'm sure I have a bit more to do, but that's okay – now I just pray my editor likes what I've done.)
Speaking of, I don't have covers yet, but I have cover blurbs for both LIE WITH ME and PROMISES IN THE DARK, so check them out and let me know what you think! I'm really dying to see the new covers…I'm hoping they just blow me away. Bantam's art department usually does…and I'm trying to be...
