Great News

I just got the news today that Amazon has chosen Bone River as one of their Editor's Picks for December. They only choose ten books in Fiction/Literature, so this is a very big deal!

Check it out here.

Holiday Party

As promised, here are some pictures from our annual Holiday party--hosted by Christina Dodd, Jayne Ann Krentz and Stella Cameron, and always a great deal of fun. From left, clockwise: Cherry Adair, Susan Anderson, Kristin Hannah, Debbie Macomber, Me, Linda Lael Miller, Jill Barnett, Stella Cameron and Jayne Ann Krentz. (Christina is taking the picture).

Short Takes

A few quick things:

Just a reminder that Bone River is scheduled for release this TUESDAY, December 4th. To order, click here.

Also, I'll be doing my first signing for the book in Poulsbo, WA, on Wednesday, December 5th, at The Loft (with Liberty Bay Books) at 6:30. And yes, there will be drinking involved if that's what you like. For more info: http://www.libertybaybooks.com/event/megan-chance-local-author-her-new-novel-bone-river

I also heard back from my critique partner, who had a lot to say about the new manuscript, as usual, and so I've spent the last days immersed in revision (with a small break for an annual Christmas party--pictures to come--and a screening of The Hobbit) and no doubt will stay immersed until March. But I do have a booksigning schedule--check out http://www.meganchance.com, and go to Upcoming Events for details.

Now, back to work.

More cool Bone River news

Bookbrowse has listed Bone River on its Members Recommend page, which, along with a new washing machine (after two months of not having one), has made my Sunday very good indeed.

E-Book Deal

Right now, the Kindle version of Bone River is available for pre-order for the low price of $4.99 here. I don't know how long this is going to last, but it's pretty cool for as long as it does...

Happy Halloween!

Many of you already know that Halloween is NOT my favorite holiday--too many ghosties and things that go bump in the night. Plus I despise any month that has me cringing at horror-movie commercials whenever I channel-flip (no, I do NOT want to see someone hanging from the ceiling and talking in a demon voice while I'm simply looking for French Food at Home with Laura Calder, thank you). But I have carved a pumpkin (ONE, down from FOUR last year, because my children have abandoned the whole pumpkin-carving thing and my husband will only make me carve a Yankee symbol again) and decorated the front stoop to lure in trick-or-treaters (because, dammit, I am NOT going to eat five bags of candy on my own, even if they are all my favorite kinds).

I am still immersed in reading the ever-expanding manuscript (didn't I just read 100 pages? How can there be so much left?), which is a pretty scary task, and therefore completely appropriate for the holiday. And here, just as a little Halloween treat, I present this link for your delectation, which is also weirdly scary (my husband wants one. Don't ask me why):

Victory! (Of a sort)

As of last week, I have officially finished the FIRST draft of the new manuscript! (This is actually the third draft, if we're being specific, but it is the first time I've made it through to the end without stopping and starting over--as I did at about page 300, and then again at 500, for those of you keeping track. Really, I'd rather not. :))

So now ... a week or so of reading it through before I hand it off to my critique partner, who will no doubt find myriad reasons for me to start over once again. But for now, I'm breathing a heady sigh of relief.
