Gift for a season

My book arrived today. Just in time before the festive season: for cosy reading and cooking.

I shall wrap it in a gift paper and give it to my nephew. She knows nothing about Kirghizstan, Turkmenistan, Russian Siberia, and other parts on "the right side of the map". Between reading historical stories she can also cook and taste what people eat there. Once she told me: “I got bored of making pizza and hamburgers. I want to try something special."

So, here it is - a special book - for informative reading and good food. Order now, to get it in time for the season. Russian Colonial Food Journey through the dissolved Communist Empire by Angelika Regossi

DID YOU KNOW THAT

Russia started in Kiev - the modern capital of Ukraine and the ancient capital of Kievan Rus.
It was the first East Slavic State – not Empire, Kingdom, or Tsarstvo (Царство).
Kievan Rus State existed for 400 years. At its peak in the 11 century, it stretched from the White Sea to the Black Sea, from Poland to the Taman Peninsula on the Azov Sea.
Kievan Rus’ currency was Grivna (now used by Ukraine) and the legal code was the Russkaya Pravda or Russian Justice.
Kievan Rus died at the end of 1240 when Mongols sieged Kiev just in 8 days.

Well said

Well said: "Dreams + Reality + Determination = Successful Life"

I totally agree with Ray Dalio. Step by step to the success.

I also like this one: "Dream Big, Think Small". Do you know who said it? Jeff Manion (author and pastor) - it is the title of his book.

What to read and drink in festive season

The festive season is coming soon. With long evenings and free time, I like to spend it cosy with a good book and a glass of wine. For reflection and inspiration.

Why don’t YOU dive into my new novel “Love in Communism”? It is for the ADULT public. An evocative and intriguing read with a powerful storyline and a deep understanding of hidden lives. A chilling reality and the harrowing experiences of being a woman in the USSR.

Ah, yes … almost forgot. Talking about wine. Personally, I like Kadarka wine. I think it is the best Hungarian dry red wine with a very fruity taste, full bouquet, and delicious after-taste. After each sip, you want to make more, and more, and more ... Did you try it?

Hollywood of Europe

Hungary once said that it wanted to be the Hollywood of Europe.

No, not a competitor, but a partner, a working mate. Time passed by, and step by step, Hungary built facilities to fulfill this dream. Look at Korda Studios (named after Alexander Korda, a Hungarian-born British filmmaker), the National Film Institute (NFI), and the list continues.

DID YOU KNOW THAT:

Russia is a short name for the Russian Federation.
It consists of 21 republics, 9 territories, 46 regions, 1 autonomous region, 4 autonomous districts, and 2 federal cities (Moscow and St. Petersburg) (Source: The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada. www.canada.mid.ru. Date: 28 November 2024).
None of them have the right to secede from Russia.
Russia is the largest country in the world with the most nuclear weapons.

Interview

Today I had a 5-question interview on eBooksTap. I thought you might be interested. Here it is and the link is below:

Would you like readers to have any specific takeaway from your book?

Yes, of course.  That's why I write the books.  To encourage readers to go through the difficulties of life.  To stay strong and win.  Never quit. I also like to show life as it is, not made-up stories, but real ones, of real people. And to show that life is not as complicated as many think, it is much more simple, but you have to learn to live, not to regret at the end, that something was not done, or done wrong.

What is your favorite line from your book?

“You promised me to think big! My little star, if you think big, you will become big! Use my diamonds and the wall clock to become big! Dream big, Anfisa—and you will be more than just a wife to a man." (Love in Communism. A Young Woman's Adult Story)

What other hobbies do you have outside of writing?

I love gardening.  It breaks the day nicely: instead of going to the gym, I go in the fresh air and do my exercises by putting the plants in order.  And you know what?  I like to grow not only flowers but also my food: I have a vegetable garden, many fruit trees, and a berries plantation.  But you said "hobbies outside writing"?  Oh, no, writing isn't a hobby for me.  I take it seriously, it is my job and my passion.

What can we anticipate from you moving forward?

I am working on the next two projects from the series "Cooking and Politics" and hopefully in the coming months shall finish and show it to the readers.

What have you found to be most challenging about writing in [genre]?

Lack of time.  I always have not enough time, as long as I remember myself.  I have too many plans and ideas, everything want to do, but I have only 24 hours a day, like everybody else.  And it seems that it is not enough for me.  Sometimes I think it would be good to have two of myself: one would do the writing and another the rest stuff, for example, research, facts checking, bringing me a coffee :) And so on.  But it is impossible, so I always have to make decisions, about what is more important and share my time.

Если Bы еще не говорите по-английски

For my Russian-speaking readers,

Если Bы еще не говорите по-английски, воспользуйтесь программой Google для перевода моих постов. Вот ссылка:

https://translate.google.com/?sl=en&a...

Structure

Hello Everybody,

I am structuring my posts. Actually, it already started in October 2024 and I received positive reactions.
So, I shall continue:

1) To post once a month RETROSPECTIVE article from my journalistic work from East Europe and other parts of the world, including war zones. The topic will be always today’s actual; I shall add a new short story as an update and give a link to my article or broadcast on BBC, RFI, or other media.

2). To post once a month a PHOTO from my journalistic ARCHIVE and call these posts: Series “I miss you: my youngish years, friends and colleagues!”. I shall also tag people in these photos.

3). To post once a week a KNOWLEDGE INJECTION and call these posts: Series “Did you know that”. It will always be about East Europe: less known facts for the wide public. I shall start with Russia, which is on the tip of the tongue right now.

That’s all.

DID YOU KNOW THAT:

The Russian Empire was the 3rd biggest in the world. After the British and Mongol Empires.
Actually, by size, the Mongol Empire was just a bit bigger than the Russian Empire, which occupied about 17% of the Globe.
Communists took over the Russian Empire and in 1922 created a new state USSR, which existed till December 31, 1991.
