Debut Novel

I am fully expecting full snarkitude.

My name is Mandy. I wrote a novel. Said novel has been published by a major publisher in NYC. It is my debut and I am excited. (for full excitement, visit my LJ.)

It is called PRADA & PREJUDICE.

Fifteen-year-old Callie buys a pair of real Prada pumps to impress the cool crowd on a school trip to London. Goodbye, Callie the clumsy geek-girl, hello popularity! But before she knows what’s hit her, Callie wobbles, trips, conks her head… and wakes up in the year 181

Best. Day. Ever.

Woohoo! I had SO much fun today it's not even funny.

The day started at 8:30, with me looking up all the B&N's in the area and squealing (literally) when I discovered the inventory status had changed to "In stock" at nearly all of them. Yes!!  I wrote directions down in my handy-dandy notebook.

Since I wrote a book Prada shoes, I know you want to  know what kind of shoes I was wearing, so here's the big reveal-->

First stop: Federal Way B&N.  They had five copies sitting at the front counter (I ha

How I got here: The Longest blog post I will ever write

So, it's here. Release day. The day I've been working toward for 6 years.

I could start at the beginning-- the VERY beginning, but that would be a bit boring. Suffice it to say that I started on a little site called Fictionpress.com in 2003. That site set the stage for everything I would become. It taught me to write for fun and enjoy every minute of it.

In 2005, I wrote the first book I wanted to get published; THE BROKEN ROAD. It was the longest thing I'd ever written at 85,000 words, and I fe

EEE!

I have a winner for my contest!! Patty just snapped a picture of Prada & Prejudice at a Books-A-Million in Alabama.

I admit, I kind of got teary-eyed and stared at it for a long minute.

Now obviously I already have an OFFICIAL winner, but I would be THRILLED if y'all would still send me some more pictures of Prada in the wild. :-)

Four days. FOUR DAYS--- REALLY??!!

I know I say that it's unbelievable, but it really is hard for me to fathom the idea that my book is going ot be out on Thursday. I've taken Friday off as a vacation day, and I am crossing my fingers I actually see PRADA & PREJUDICE in stores.

As I think about it, I ponder who my core audience will be. YA's, certainly. But I do have to wonder how much Austen fans will be interested in it. And what they'll think of me borrowing a little bit of Jane-- if they'll expect PRADA & PREJUDICE to somehow

Wow. Go Stephenie Meyer

Wow. Was just reading this article on YAHOO! about the Forbes list for top Celebrity Earners.

Stephenie Meyer? Number 26, with $50 Million for the last year. $50 MILLION in a YEAR.

That is awe-inspiring for an author.

Write. Revise. Repeat. Repeat more.

2) What's one thing you bought with your advance money?

My ticket to escape corporate!

3) What's one thing that's surprised y
