My blog is (S)Lacking
So here is my catchup:
A) Don't forget! I have a critique of a full proposal up for grabs! Details here.
B) I am about ready to ship off DRIVEN to my harlequin editor. SQUEE!
C) My 2010 YA is coming along-- I'm at around 25,000 words now. Even more exciting? I sent some preliminary cover ideas over to my editor last week. The top image I captioned with, "I'm pretty much in love with this, it's perfec

Enter to win a critique!
Okay, here's the deal: one lucky winner will get a detailed critique from me on three chapters (up to 30 pages), plus a synopsis and a query letter.
That's everything you need to get your foot in the door with an agent!
So how do you enter?
First, comment on this entry. Bingo, you're entered.
Want extra entries? Leave a comment each time you do one of the following:
*Review Prada & Prejudice on Amazon (To be clear-- I want true, honest reviews-- this isn't a bribe for positive reviews!) Comment wi
Contest idea...
If I were to do a contest, where the prize was a critique of a submission package-- query letter, 3 chapters, and a synopsis-- would anyone be interested in that?
I'd do a simple "comment and you're entered", but also do extra entries if you reviewed prada on amazon, pimped it on your blog, etc.

(Belated) NYC RECAP!
So, i have been putting off recapping the NYC trip. Partly becuase I am in denial that it's over, and partly because I am not sure there is any way to do it justice.
A year and two months ago, I was just another writer waiting for her break. I had dozens of rejections, a slew of trunked novels, and an agent who refused to take no for an answer. I really didn't think it would happen with Prada and Prejudice. Much as I believed in the story, it seemed fated to be forgotten like all the other novels

Wow. NYC so far.....
SO far, NYC is completely, totally amazing. I am rooming with Rhonda Stapleton and Julie Linker, two totally fun and crazy girls. We had a blast last night walking around looking for a dinner locale, and then we also met up with Lauren Barnholdt, and headed toward time square. (awe-inspiring. Truly!)
Yesterday's lunch with my YA editor and my agent was almost surreal. I've worked with Zoe for 3 years now, and meeting her and sitting next to her was crazy. I got to tour the Razorbill offices, wher

New York, here I come!
I almost cried when I realized that I am about to fly to the other side of the country to share a hotel with three other published authors (one, Lauren Barnholdt, has inspired me for years).... and to meet my agent. And my editor. And my other editor.
What did I do to deserve such an amazing life???

The Austen Inspired First Line Contest!
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.”
There is perhaps no more famous line than this one, from Jane Austen’s PRIDE & PREJUDICE. It has become a part of pop culture, used again and again in various forms.
Take, for instance, the first line to The Geek Girl's Guide to Cheerleading by Darcy Vance and Charity Tahmaseb:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a high school boy in possession of great athletic abil

Reasons to Squee on a Sunday

I went to B&N this morning, and was elated to discover Prada & Prejudice on an endcap proclaiming, "TEEN FAVORITES" ( !!!!). I dont know what qualifies it as a favorite, but it was pretty dang exciting.
Has anyone else seen this at THEIR B&N?
Also exciting: Razorbill has an all new website, with a slideshow at the top that includes my book. Check it out: http://www.razorbillbooks.com/

My Progress Report: YA & Novella
Things are going swimmingly with my projects. I *THINK* anyway. I sent the outline of my YA plus a very small partial to my editor last night, so that she could check it out and see if I'm heading in the right direction. It's very intersting to truly fast-draft something... I'm not even scrolling back in the MS to verify any details, but rather noting those spots with ***, so that I can use the find feature later. Every time I forget what someone's last name is or what the teacher's name is or w
