WarGames (1983, John Badham)
Saw this when I was around 5. Spend much of my childhood hoping I’d be among those killed instantly instead of tormented, dying slowly and painfully. I hoped my parents would die with me so none of us would survive to grieve the others. This was, in my youth, the best possible fate to hope for.
So if anyone was wondering where Guðsríki came from, here’s the inspiration.

Good Angel: rad af LGBT+ book you should read
![]()
Good Angel is a novel by A M Blaushild. Cover art is by @quibbs
it’s a colorful, fun, slice of life about angels and demons attending a sort of university training. a nice angel is too nice to a demon, makes a few mistakes, and possibly kickstarts the apocalypse.
Slow going at first with a slice of life style. Humor, magic, friendship… and maybe the end of the world. Lots of LGBT rep, though it isn’t the focus, with a specific main on ace/aro. The main themes are grey morality, identity, religion… it’s both light and dark and everything in between. It’s about having fun and facing the consequences. Part of a duology with part two coming 2018. Starts slow, but evolves into a magic, action-packed urban fantasy that delves into religious lore.

The Giant Blue Robber Fly (Blepharotes spendidissimus) is aptly named!
She reaches an inch long and roams around in eastern Australia, spotting flying insects with her enormous eyes before snatching them mid-flight.
Powerful legs give her a firm grip while a golden moustache protects her head from even the most aggressive of prey. Then, she pierces their exoskeleton with pointy mouth-parts and sucks out their juices.
I can’t help but think that someone needs to give her a tiny leather jacket and motorbike.

Blurbs are incredibly difficult, despite their brevity. Perhaps because of it. This is exceptional advice!
