💕 Taught dozens of romance authors how to use Pinterest to increase their book sales.⠀

💕 Helped several romance authors create amazing author bios for increased clarity and improved book sales.⠀

💕 Coached a couple romance authors about the “business” side of their author business and how to maximize their earning potential with passive income.⠀

💕 Grew my social media following by incredible people, some of whom have become members of my ARC and Street teams, and MANY who have become my FRIENDS. This is what I’m most grateful for. 😘⠀

Since you know by now that I’m a total pantser and my stories come to me versus me creating them, I’m not sure what I’ll be working on after Kiss Away Your Pain. I have ideas for a story between an acupuncturist and massage therapist who knew each other in high school and are now in their late twenties. I also still have my Finding Love in Quarantine trilogy in my back pocket. I’ll see if I can figure out how to get it all working. One other possibility is Happenstance in France. Ah Life
Ever since the tornado hit my mother's townhouse, life has been a little topsy-turvy for me. It feels like I've been in a constant vortex of chaos and fast-forward. Have you ever felt like this? I'm guessing you have.
Trying to be productive is a challenge. Your heart feels like you're running on the treadmill when you're sitting still. All the while, you really don't feel like you're accomplishing anything. Ah life.
I want you to take a deep breath with me. Inhale, hold it for a moment to let it settle you, and blow it slowly out. Pull your shoulders down from your ears. Release your tongue from the roof of your mouth. One more breath.
Life gets stressful. It won't last forever. Take these breath-ful moments here and there throughout the day to help calm your nervous system.
We've got this. ;-)

Silent Mentors
Being a fellow slow-burn author, today I’m highlighting Mariana Zapata 😍 And one of the reasons I want to highlight her comes from a post I saw the other day about mentors. You don’t have to know someone personally for them to serve as a mentor to you. If you like what they’re about, you look up to them, and you want to achieve similar things, they can simply be a silent mentor. Follow them, learn from them, study them (you know, in a non-creepy way 😁). Mariana and I don’t know each other personally and I love that she’s also a slow burn author. I’m doing my best to surround myself with both authors and readers who also enjoy slow burn. So, I quietly learn from her because I genuinely enjoy her work, her approach to her author business, and her as a person. I encourage you to do the same for yourself in your own life. If you love slow burn and you’re not already part of her community, go check her out. 😊⠀⠀

“Oh, honey.” She takes my hand in hers and tugs a little, making me look at her. “Des, where you are is temporary. You’re just in a little slump right now. You told me you had a good writing sesh back at my studio. Who knows, maybe that photo shoot was the spark of inspiration you’ve been waiting for.”
“Maybe.” I sip my martini, recalling how hot and bothered I was with Nicco’s hands on me and then being in his arms.

Writing and Branching Out
Kiss Away Your Pain is slowly coming along. Some days the words flow, some days they're like having word-constipation. LOL!
Here's a little snippet for you...
I turn toward the bar and adrenaline floods me the instant I see him. Enzo. My skin tingles as I stand frozen, watching him. He’s making drinks and doesn’t see me.
As I approach the bar, he looks up. The sexiest smile spreads across his gorgeous face. My pulse quickens.
“Hi. I wondered if I’d see you here.”
“I didn’t expect to see you here.” I’m caught in his piercing green eyes.
“Yeah, Nicco requested me. You were right, he’s a really good guy. He’s helped me out a lot.”
“So you guys are friends now?”
“Yeah, you could say that.” He smiles. “What can I get you? We have pink champagne with a puff of cotton candy.” He winks. “A Tiffany blue cosmopolitan. Or, really anything you’d like.”
When the words are struggling to come out of me, I work on the business side of my author career. With my 25+ years in corporate America and my background as a business coach for five years, I know how to run a successful business.
I've just started offering author bio revamps, coaching/consulting, and website copy for romance authors. If you're a romance author and your bio reads more like a dating profile, let's talk. Let me help you attract YOUR readers to you.
