Author, actor, and filmmaker Michael Angelo has had a lifelong obsession with horror and tales of the macabre. In 2009, his short film "Love Lost in a Boat," which was loosely inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado,” screened for an enthusiastic audience at Houston Crypticon. It was inspired by my actual Grandma's house which, despite its "creepy old house" vibe, was a beautiful home where many of my fondest memories were made until it burned down around the beginning of 2020.

I've been developing a decades-spanning mythology around the fictional version of the house; "Choice" is the first story set there, but many more lie ahead.(less)
