Daily Meditations of A Nurse Warrior

How quick are you to condemn another?

So many are criticized and treated harshly based on appearances, here say and mistakes. Quick to berate and attack an adulterous woman were religious leaders. When roughly brought to Jesus, He asked her "Has no one condemned you?" (John 8:10). Answering no, He proceeded to tell her "then neither do I condemn you" (8:11). But, "go now and leave your life of sin" (8:11). Just as He did not judge the sinful woman, He does not judge you for your sins either; but he does make you accountable for them, just like he did for her. So, instead of condemning another, might you consider being respectful, but hold them accountable for their behavior, as well as yourself. #Honor & #Accountability

Why appreciate and embrace your struggles?

Even the struggle deserves your gratitude. For in the struggle, you will find strength, clarity, truth and so much more. So, instead of fighting against it, might you "praise the LORD, [your] soul, and forget not all his benefits" (Psalm 103:2), as these struggles are blessings aka "good things" filled with His "love and compassion" (103:3-5). #GratitudeInEverything

What kind of giver are you?

There are many kinds of givers; and the generous one gives from the heart. For when they do, they "will be refreshed" and "prosper" (Proverbs 11:25). So, as you search your heart, might you remember the most generous heart of all, the one that "gave his only begotten Son" (John 3:16). #ItIsMoreBlessedToGiveThanToReceive

What kind of friendships do you have?

Many friendships are fleeting; but real ones last. Having a real one that lasted a lifetime was King David and Jonathan. They shared a friendship that was unbreakable, one that was filled with great affinity (see 1 Samuel 20:41), loyalty (see 20:8-17, 32; 19:1-2; 20:13) and sacrifice (see 20:30-31, 23:15-18). So, if you are lucky enough to have such a friendship, might you count yourself blessed and cherish them for the rest of your life. #FriendshipsThatLast

Why be humble?

The humble never seek the spotlight, and remain behind the scenes and under the radar, because they "do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit" (Philippians 2:3) and "value others above [themselves]" (2:3). Also, humble, was Jesus, as He "[made] himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant" (2:7), and sacrificed for all. May you always choose to serve others with a humble spirit. For, one day, you "be exalted" (Luke 14:11). #MeekAndModest & #NotArrogantOrPrideful

What are you willing to let go of?

Maybe, another award. Another promotion. Another move. Another...

Not many are willing to surrender anything; and will continue to seek more and more and more, because it will never be enough. So, as you consider your threshold, for personal gain and desire, might you ask yourself the following question. "What good is it for [you] to gain the whole world, yet forfeit [your] soul?" (Mark 3:36). May what you consider surrendering be one that you deny yourself and allows you to take up your cross and follow Him (see 8:34). #WorthTheTradeOff

How refreshing are you?

With water, much thrives; and without it, little survives. Making a correlation between water and leaders is Isaiah. He reveals those put in charge "will reign in righteousness . . . like streams of water in the desert" (Isaiah 32:1–2); and if they do, they will live in "peace" and "quietness and confidence forever" (32:17). But, those who choose not to share their water will run dry. So, as you consider your hydration status, might it remain at a level so that it never goes dry, just like His. #LetIt & #KeepItFlowing

Why bother to care?

Caring can be costly; but, in the same token, not caring at all can, also, be just as costly. Those who do care are filled with "love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22–23), because they "receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on [them]" (Acts 1:8). So, if you bother caring, might you "always be prepared to given an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do with gentleness and respect" (1 Peter 3:15). #Bother & #BlessAnother

How gracious are you?

Grace, at times, can be extremely difficult to give. But, reminding you and me to give grace is Peter. He says that "through the grace of our Lord Jesus...we are saved" (Acts 5:11); and to be given such a courtesy is more than you and I deserve. So, when you struggle to give grace, might you, instead, consider "[using] whatever gift you have received . . . as [a] faithful [steward] of God’s grace” (1 Peter 4:10) and give it to another. #FreelyGive

How well do you use your words?

Words are impactful, and even more so when they are not use as they should be. Warning against a "gossiping tongue" (Proverbs 25:23) and constant complaining (see 25:24) is King Solomon. He reveals that such words alter, even ruin, relationships. But, when words of "good news" are given, they are "like cold water to the thirsty" (25:25). So, the next time you are trying to find the right words, might you consider seeking His wisdom, for He will help you provide a "proper answer". #ChooseYourWordsWisely
