Come see me at the RT Booklovers Convention

It’s almost here!!! The 2013 RT Booklovers Convention in Kansas City, May 1-5. And I’m going to be there!

RTBookloversConvention.logoThe RT conventions are always a lot of fun for authors, readers, booksellers, and publishers. I have been to several of them and I’m fortunate enough to be going this year as well.

There are a lot of interesting and helpful classes for writers, readers, and booksellers. I’ll be going to quite a few of them. A writer can never learn too much, in my opinion. And parties…Rosie Gulch’s Gals’ Get-Together and Ellora’s Cave Bad Girls of Romance Disco Inferno (both May 1), Samhain’s Safari, RT’s 30th Anniversary Formal Ball (both May 2), Avon’s Red Slipper Lounge, Heather Graham’s Freaky Friday Dinner & Dance Party (both May 3), and finally the FAN-Tastic Day Party and Harlequin Dance Party (May 4).

Don’t forget the two big book signing events. On May 2 from 4-6 pm will be the E-Book, Indie Publisher & Graphic Novel EXPO. I will be signing at this event. Please come see me, I’d love to meet you!

May 4 from 11 am to 2 pm is the Giant Book Fair. What an amazing event! You do not want to miss this one.

As I already mentioned, the FAN-Tastic Day Party is May 4  from 6:30-7:45 pm. I will be in the first session, along with more than 300 authors scheduled to attend. My time for interacting with readers is 6:30-7 pm. There will be lots of giveaways and other goodies from publishers and authors. This is the time for readers to engage with authors…just have some fun and get to know each other. I hope to see you there!

Dreaming Up a Story Line

How do you start a new story? If you’re an author, I know that each of us works in different ways. Today I’m sharing some of my process of beginning a new story at the Decadent 1 Night Stand Blog. If you’re a reader and not a writer, you might find the process interesting.

CONTEST: I love doing contests and giving away one of the many little fun items I collect over the year especially for this opportunity. Leave a comment about your favorite Decadent series to write for or to read. Or comment about a story line or series that you would like to see in Decadent’s house. One randomly chosen winner will win a fun gift I found in San Antonio: Texas Bandana and 33 Ways to use It (complete with a bandana). The contest ends April 14.

Chatting today at Coffee Time Romance-Coffee Thoughts

coffeethoughts

I’m excited about being a guest blogger today at Coffee Time Romance’s Coffee Thoughts. It is a wonderful place to stop by and get to know more about a favorite author or meet and learn about a new author.

What should I blog about? I wasn’t sure what to talk about and then I decided to just admit my addiction…to romance. I read almost every sub-genre of romance and have many favorite authors. These are the ones in my Kindle library: Carolyn Brown, Janet Chapman, Catherine Coulter, Alyssa Day, Janet Evanovich, Christine Feehan, Delores Fossen, Sandra Hill, Lrelei James, Johanna Lindsey, Katie MacAlister, Susan Mallery, Linda Lael Miller, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, J D Robb, Lynsay Sands, Rori Scott, Gena Showalter, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Paige Tyler, Susan Wiggs, and Sheryl Woods.

Beyond those well-known and popular authors, I also enjoy many ebook authors. These currently include Alexa Bourne, Barbara Elsborg, Becca Dale, CR Moss, Cassandra Dean, D L Jackson, Desiree Holt, Dominique Eastwick, Jessica E Subject, Kate Richards, K T Grant, Rebecca Royce, Stephanie Williams, and Valarie Mann, and many more.

Besides reading romance (and other genres), I write in many of the romance sub-genres. Cowboys are my favorite heroes to write about, historical or contemporary. I’ve just always had a weakness for a man in tight faded jeans with a great butt, scuffed boots, and a low-tipped Stetson.

Anyway, I’m hoping you will take a few minutes to stop by Coffee Time Romance-Coffee Thoughts today and say hello.  And I’m hosting a contest that will end Monday, April 1.

CONTEST: Share a comment at the Coffee Time Romance Coffee Thoughts blog about my bog post or about your favorite genre to read of write. One randomly chosen commenter will receive a fun little handing sign: Why Don’t Cowboys Come with Instructions.

Talking about Memory Quilts

I’m happy to share that I am at Alexa Bourne’s Talent Tuesday blog today. I’m talking about how I got into making small art quilts/memory quilts. And I am sharing several photos of my quilts.

I really like Alexa’s idea of letting authors share some of their other talents. Be sure to visit her site on Talent Tuesdays.

In celebrating my recent release of Rose’s Cowboys from Black Velvet Seductions, I wrote a blog post on March 20 at the BVS Readers Blog on “Writing about Vulnerable Characters.” Along with that I did a contest for a mini memory quilt I created and made in honor of this book.

Memory Quilt of My Western Romance Covers

Finished quilt

Not only do I write romance, but also I make small art quilts. Mainly I make what I call “memory quilts.” The quilt shown here highlights 12 of my Western romance book covers. I will use this for display at book signings and in my office. I had a lot of fun designing it and making it.
