Valentine’s Cowboy released

kayevalentinescowboy500X750_72  I enjoy writing about love and romance. Even more I enjoy writing the occasional story revolving around Valentine’s Day in some manner. And, of course, I like to throw my heroes into situations that they are uncomfortable in and have to struggle to deal with. (Evil woman, I know)

My latest release, VALENTINE’S COWBOY, from Blushing Books involves all of that. My heroine (Valentine) is a romance therapist currently disgusted with romance…at least from her personal experiences. My hero (Sam) is a cowboy, currently annoyed that his kid sister has gone through some sessions with a romance therapist before getting married. There is much more involved in why each of them don’t think highly of each other before they finally meet.

To top it off, they meet for the first time in Maui, where his sister is getting married. He didn’t want to go there, but loves his sister enough to do it. She’s there because of her friendship with his sister and because she needs time away from her personal problems and work. She is beginning to wonder if maybe she has been seeking a love relationship with the wrong gender. But when she literally falls into a gorgeous cowboy’s arms… well, now she’s really confused.

Valentine’s Cowboy

Valentine is a romance therapist burned out on the whole idea of romance. She needs a break from dating GQ fashioned stockbrokers and men whose lives revolve around their over-priced cars, high-tech apartments, and their belief that they’re super studs in bed. She needs time away from a therapy partnership that no longer makes her happy. Right now, nothing makes her happy. She needs a Calgon-take-me-away escape from all of it, and remembers how a recent client invited Valentine to her wedding in Maui. What better place for an escape? No pushy men to deal with. No pressures from her partners. Just time alone in paradise.

Sometimes paradise has its problems, too. Especially when her client’s cowboy rat older brother shows up, and Valentine wants to throttle him for his past overbearing ways toward his sister. Sam isn’t too thrilled to see the dipstick counselor who mucked up his adoring baby sister either. The interfering woman keeps right on butting her nose into his business, making him strongly feel the need to apply his hand to her sweet little bottom. Only touching her makes them both want so much more.

Publisher Note: Valentine’s Cowboy has been re-edited by the author. All customers that previously purchased this title will have the new version in their account.

A reviewer from Night Owl Reviews gave the novella 4.5 Stars and awarded it a Night Owl Erotica Top Pick.

“I just finished Hot Days…Hotter Nights and I couldn’t put it down. It got pretty steamy in some parts and lived up to the title with no doubt. The way Matt handled Lacy’s attitude was hot! A must read for readers looking for a hot and steamy read.” – Reviewer: IamPeachy

Having fun with your writing

Easter dress 2  Basically I’m a romance writer and I write in many sub-genres. There is so much sadness in the world around us, but I don’t write about that. Yes, my characters (like real people) have ups and downs in their lives. But I guarantee that my stories all end with a HEA (Happily Ever After) or at least a HFN (Happily For Now).

Sometimes I like to get away from my actual romance writing and have some fun with writing. Maybe I’ll write a poem (rarely), but I’m really bad at them. If a poem doesn’t rhyme, then I don’t know how to write it. And I can only think of so many words that rhyme.

I dabble with writing short stories about romantic relationships for people over age 60. Romance, believe it or not, isn’t only for those in their 20s or 30s. There are some beautiful relationships that can be witnessed all around us. My particular favorite people to observe are older couples who have been together what seems like forever. You can see it in the special way she takes care of her husband, tolerates his “selective” hearing, ignores the way he grouches around sometimes. Or you can see it in the special things he does for his wife, holds her arm to steady her as she walks, gently pats her hand at times when she is fretting over something. There are so many little things to observe about people and how they get along.

When I’m really in a fun-loving mood with my writing, I write a short story about Blossom and her bullfriend Ferdinand. She is an adventurous, curious, and loving cow. He is the bull who tolerates her occasional off-key “singing,” helps her with adventures, and adores her. There is no real genre for these stories, but they’re great fun. If you’re curious about reading some of Blossom’s stories, they are on my other website: Starla Criser.

Whiskey’s Rebellion

Whiskey, the mischievous imp of Dodge City, thought it was bad enough for her brothers to sell their shares of her father’s ranch to their US Marshal friend, Morgan, but what was even WORSE was that those men all had it in mind that Whiskey would actually marry Morgan–this hard, firm, LARGE man she had barely met before.

Morgan thought Whiskey just needed a firm hand to keep her in line, but Whiskey, who is constantly getting tied up in ridiculous, dangerous situations, is nearly impossible to control, and things get even more complicated when her twin sister comes into town, kicking up even more trouble at home.

But Morgan has a dark shadow following in his path, threatening the peaceful life he meant to create with Whiskey. Will they come through this together? Or will Morgan’s past bring tragedy on everything he now holds dear?

Reader Review from Amazon: 5 Stars

“This is a really great story with an interesting plot and a heroine who just loves to cause trouble. The interaction between the siblings is great and the ones with Whiskey and Morgan are even better. This book was really hard to put down.” (Alica Scott-reviewer)

Reader Review from Blushing Books: 5 Stars

“I really love this story it is full of very strong characters and Whiskey’s balloon ride was hilarious even if it did earn her 3 spankings. I have read that this is one of Starla Kaye’s favourite storys and I truly agree I hope she does a sequel there’s Chase and Brandy along with Taos and Keno as well as catching up on Whiskey.” (Miss Contrite-reviewer)

Ranch Heat-anthology

Ranch Heat: Three of the hottest contemporary Westerns to come along in a long time! “Dude Ranch,” “Crooked-T Ranch,” and “Suzy Q Ranch” all have one thing in common: city girls who meet no nonsense cowboys! Three novellas, twenty two chapters in all! In Dude Ranch, Jake Caldwell’s grandmother suggests a marriage of convenience between Jake and Rylee Jamison. Crazy, right? Maybe not… In Suzy Q Ranch, Suzy has wasted years trying to settle down. Unexpectedly, she inherits the ranch where she lived as a foster child. But there’s a catch: she must share the inheritance with Trent Tyler, who’s already broken her heart once. In Crooked T Ranch, ex-bull rider Travis McVey needs time to figure out his life. A job as a foreman on an isolated Wyoming ranch seems the perfect solution… that is until Jodi Thompson, the boss’s bratty daughter shows up…

Reader Review from Blushing Books: 5 Stars

“Three awesome stories in one book with uber alpha cowboys and the woman who love them and who they love and keep in love in what ever way is needed. They are a lot of fun to read.” (Evelyn-review)

Operation V-Day

Valerie Hart left her very Alpha, very workaholic attorney husband six months ago, but only because they’d reached a point of total frustration with each other. Compromising on anything had seemed out of the question. Space away and time to settle down had been her only choice, she’d thought. Of course, she’d also thought Jett would come after her. The stubborn man didn’t. And then, idiot that she was, she’d taken some poor advice and filed for a divorce. But she wasn’t being an idiot any longer, and she wasn’t ready to give up on their marriage or on Jett. Yet. She had a plan and set herself a deadline: Valentine’s Day. If she couldn’t win him back by then, well… No! She would.

The wife he’d loved with every fiber of his being until she’d left him suddenly walked back into his life. Pride told him to refuse to even consider taking her back. Hope he’d thought he’d given up on made him ignore his bruised ego and see what would happen. There would certainly be punishment for her irresponsible actions. He wouldn’t forgive her easily, if he even could.

“This was a great story of a misunderstood wife and a strong and loving husband who finally got a clue. The spankings were hot.” (Brenda-reviewer)
