In the mail: Movies!

I had some B&N gift cards that needed using up.

All physical media, of course. Movies are particularly vulnerable to digital censorship.

“I know you all think I’m space-happy,” Webster Domaine told the interrogator, “but I’m not. That wasn’t Tam! I could tell.”

Nobody had ever sent handcuffs or even zip-ties up to the moon, so Security these days had to improvise with braided computer cables and salvaged privacy locks. Domaine was tied to his chair at waist level, and his hands were just loose enough to let him pick up a bulb of vegetable broth. Commander Tobias Marsh wasn’t sure if the bonds would hold if Domaine was space-happy, but they’d certainly slow him down enough for Security to just shoot him.

Dammit, they weren’t supposed to send pistols up here either, Tobias thought as he sipped his own bulb of broth. Coffee, tea, and particularly cocoa were now only cruel memories. Why couldn’t they have smuggled up some of the non-lethal stuff, too?

Finally applied for FrightReads 2022.

Took me long enough, really. The next FrightReads Book Festival will be on October 1st, at a new location: it was a fun time last time, and the price per table is really good. I sold some books there last time, so hopefully, I’ll be able to sell more. ‘Course, I actually have to get my application accepted, but I don’t think that’s going to be too much of a problem.

But if you can’t wait until then… buy my books!

The January Patreon stuff is up!

Bit of a grind, this month. Dunno why.

RPG supplement: Ashes of Empire, Part 1: Nin. In which we take a look of the basic world. Hint: it’ll be really easy to get maps for it.Short Story: Tracks in the Desert . New IP! Works, but I want people to look at it and kick the tires, tell me what lug nuts are missing.

And check out my Patreon! Straight-up: it’s a great way to support my writing.

Tweet of the Day, GOD BLESS AMERICA edition.

All that the market will bear, baby.

The hit game Wordle has been purchased by the New York Times Company for a price "in the low seven figures," the company said. https://t.co/XZhY6kW3mv

Because the NYT is gonna take a bath on that investment the second Wordle gets paywalled, of course. That’s the consensus on Twitter, and it’s hard to argue. But who goram cares? Ain’t my money! It’s a fad! Dude made it as a gift for his partner! And now he’s gonna cash that in!

Good show, man. You two should use the NYT’s money to go somewhere nice. Tuscany is always a smart call. I went there for my honeymoon, and the food there is amazing.

The ‘I Never Played Halo’ HALO trailer.

Is this a sign that the HALO series will be good? Bad? A screaming disaster? I mean, you should always assume that about adaptations of video games to the big screen; but what about the small one?

And can you even play HALO on a PC, anyway?

Rough draft of the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter video pitch.

Gonna be working on this today, tomorrow, and Tuesday. Is it missing anything, aside stuff like links and whatnot? – And bear in mind I shouldn’t make the video too long.

Hi, I’m Moe Lane of Flying Koala Publishing, and this is the Kickstarter for my new novel TINSEL RAIN. TINSEL RAIN is the sequel to my first novel FROZEN DREAMS; it stars Tom Vargas, Cin City Shamus in the magical Kingdom of New California. When Tom took his latest Case, he thought he was just doing a favor for an old friend: but when he started pulling on loose ends, they kept leading him to more and more lies, secrets, and murders. How far does it go? And who can he trust?

Well, read the book!

Kickstarter, for those who don’t know, is a crowdfunding program. People contribute what they like to support the project goals; if the project doesn’t hit its target, the money is refunded. In this case, you’ll be paying for editing and a new map, so that I can get the book published before the end of the year: depending on the tier you fund, your rewards can be anything from art, to digital or physical copies of the novel once it’s published, or even the ability to put a character in a future book!. And if we make more than the target, there’ll be stretch goals. And if we get high enough, those stretch goals will even include another book. It’s all up to you.

The risks to this project are low. The book has been written, and has been sent off to the beta readers at the time of this article; and the cover (done by the talented Shaenon Garritty) has already been commissioned. TINSEL RAIN will get published, but with your help I can get it to market in a timely fashion.

Thank you for watching, and I hope you’ll back my project.
