I am running a poll!

Via Twitter, because I don’t know how to run one here. Probably needs a plugin, or something. Anyway:

Time for a poll. What should I offer as a first-day pledge bonus for TINSEL RAIN? https://t.co/teGT4J24ZY

— Ogiel (Moe Lane) (@Ogiel23) February 9, 2022

‘Post-beat, pre-edit draft’ means that first-day backers would get the manuscript (probably in .rtf form) after the beta readers got done with it, but before the actual editor carves it up some. So the plot and the text will be (hopefully!) the same, but at the very least there’d definitely be changes as the grammar and spelling bugs get squashed. “Mystery 3-story sampler” is… a mystery. And a sampler. With three stories. And “Art. All the art” is kind of self-explanatory. I buy a lot of art.

So go ahead and vote! The poll isn’t binding, but I’ll take it seriously.

I am kind of on the injured list…

…a combination of rain, and shoes that do not well in the rain, made me take a header that was almost on the grass. Nothing broken, I think*, but I was hobbling yesterday, I was hobbling today, and I forecast more hobbling tomorrow. So, you know: we’ll call it a bye day. I need to think about where I’m going with this latest story anyway. I mean, obviously I know where it ends…

PS: If you’re concerned for me, you know what speeds up the healing process? That’s right: signing up for TINSEL RAIN! #AlwaysBeClosing

*It’s legit hard to tell with toes.

Andrew Garfield is not the werewolf (spoilers, technically).

Although if it’s a spoiler at this point, I’m impressed that you’ve missed it. Let’s just say that Andrew Garfield was absolutely the werewolf. And he lied and lied and lied about it…

Which is fine.

PS: Will there be another AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movie, now? …Well, there’s more of a chance, now. That 1.78 billion worldwide gross for SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME – and that is without a PRC release, note – suggests a certain amount of interest in it. And I’m pretty sure Garfield wants another shot at the role.

…Okay. I finally watched them with my kids as part of the build-up to see this flick, and they were pretty good. He gets the Spidey patter down pretty good. One more movie sounds reasonable.

The ARCANE Honest Trailer.

…I dunno. I kinda want to see this now? I skipped it, because I figured ARCANE was a stupid video game tie-in thing, but maybe it’s… not?

Not that I’ll play the game, mind you. I don’t play all the games I have already.

The ‘From the Mouths of Babes’ LIGHTYEAR trailer.

I wasn’t even gonna watch it, but my youngest put it on.

And, to quote my youngest: “For some reason, this is happening.” …I can’t beat that reaction. I ain’t even gonna try.

Two weeks to go before the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter!

Sign up today for notifications, or Early Access. Or check this out for a sneak preview of the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter’s pledge levels! I’m also trying to come up with a suitably cool special offer for Day One backers. In fact, reasonable suggestions are welcome…

The THE NORTHMAN trailer.

It’s odd: my wife’s the one who’d get most out of this flick – she’s the one who does Early Period stuff* – but it looks pretty dang violent for her tastes. Whereas if I watch THE NORSEMAN, I’m gonna be muttering They could’ve put some trolls or draugr in this, no problem throughout. I’m sorry, but I can’t help it. No-fooling fantasy is one of my jams.

Yeah, I used ‘my jam’ unironically. I REGRET NOTHING.

Tweet of the Day, This Is SO Important edition.

You really hate to see this. Via @Jake_W.

A quick thread on in the importance of being careful what data you share – even if you're the Queen. Today, Her Maj tweeted this lovely picture, gor bless er, etc. You might think that the contents of the red box would be official business. And you'd be right. 1/6 pic.twitter.com/y1RspNRUzy

There had always been espionage on the moon. Wars were expensive; spies were cheap. Governments spied on each other, on the mega-corporations, and in the European Union’s case, itself. There was plenty of market-driven spying, too. Companies needed an edge just as much as governments did, and business was brisk.

Or at least it had been. Recent events had been bad for the spy business. Ironically, the most prominent one Tobias could find wasn’t even from his country.

“I knew Shirley, a little,” Rushan Turkel told him when he called her. She had been Qocho Khaganate in the old days, but was now all-in on supporting Hu Mali and her Chinese Coalition. “Not enough to know her real name, you understand.”

“Why would you know her at all?”

Turkel gave him the tiredest smile he had ever seen. It was hard to guess a long-termer’s age on the moon, thanks to the lower gravity, but when she smiled she looked close to what used to be the mandatory retirement age. “We had to make sure that Shirley’s Space Force embezzlement rings had nothing to do with my Red Imperial sleeper cults. After that? There just weren’t that many of us up here. We could talk shop, if we were careful.”
